  1. Thank you Zooker. I'm actually using the Snowball with a pop filter. My issue at the moment is fiddling with Audacity to get everyone's levels the same, etc. I've got help from knowledgable friends, so it'll get better in time. I'm also recording in an empty basement which doesn't help with reflection absorption. New episode hopefully later this evening, or the latest tomorrow.
  2. Thank you. I'm basically imitating the styles of podcasters I listen to and like since I've never done anything like this before. (that's also how I fly the A-10C ;) ) The audio quality could use some work. I'm learning about that stuff too... We'll continue to try and improve it for you folks!
  3. For episode announcements (and other goings on around the 476th and DCS), follow us on Twitter @476th_vFG or subscribe in your podcast app via the RSS in the original post.
  4. I'd like to do this very much, and have actually given it some thought already, as several of the podcasts I listen to feature this. What I'm trying to sort out right now, as we've just started, is whether we'll do delayed response or "within the episode" response. For example: delayed response is easy: Listeners send questions, and we answer them in the upcoming episode (probably 3-4 max per episode) with de-duplication of questions of course. Or, and what I think is more interesting but harder to do, do we alert the listeners to upcoming guests, and have them send in questions for that guest to answer while recording the episode. And that of course is challenging. I may start with A and mix in B, but listener questions are on the list of things to do. The schedule will be variable, for example, episode 2 is already recorded, is being post-processed, and will be published later this week. As much as I'd like to, I can't sustain that rate. So it may happen weekly, bi-weekly, monthly (though I hope more frequently than monthly). I can tell you that plans for episode 3 through 5 are already laid, and guests are being invited. Again, since we want to have guests and not just make this a 476th event (episode 2 will again be with 476th members), it also takes time to make that happen. Though we've got good responses from some external invitations, so episode 3 will definitely feature non 476th members. Thanks for the interest!
  5. Hey folks, we've been approved in iTunes. This means you will be able to find and subscribe to our podcast in the iTunes store. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/476th-virtual-fighter-group/id933584005 Thanks for the responses, and Episode 2 should be out by the end of the week. :director: P.S. - For those wishing to purchase the Mk 82.5, please note that DSMS Inc. has currently suspended sales pending a lawsuit where a previous consumer claimed the Mk 82.5 hit a designated target spot on. DSMS Inc. assures us this isn't possible and the lawsuit is without merit. They've stated that as soon as their engineers prove the accuser's claims as false, the 82.5 will be made available again.
  6. Yep, it's been submitted to iTunes. Before it appears, Apple has to review/approve it, and then it has to be indexed. I'll update the thread once that's done. However, even without it being searchable in iTunes, you can subscribe to it for your Apple (and really any) devices. On an iPad/iPod/iPhone, simply click on the RSS link from the device, and the device will prompt you to subscribe. http://www.podcastgarden.com/podcast/podcast-rss.php?id=5090 (note that the forum has truncated the URL, so you should click on it to get the full URL before copying and pasting it) On iTunes on a Mac or PC, open the File menu and choose "Subscribe to Podcast", and paste the RSS link above into it. That's how you manually subscribe to a podcast without the content available in the iTunes store. Note: For Android/Windows devices, you will simply need a podcast app to paste the RSS link into in order to subscribe.
  7. Thanks guys for your support! I know what you're referring to, though I've never done it. I'll explore the effort. Thanks for the suggestion! Highly recommended. Also, take your time when researching squadrons to join. Make sure they offer what you're looking for. There are many brilliantly run groups out there to try... so go get your feet wet. It will change the way you view simulators.
  8. Fellow DCS Simmers, The 476th Virtual Fighter Group would like to present for your enjoyment, our DCS World podcast. Why a podcast? Because no one has produced one for us: the serious combat sim pilot. Listen while you're driving, doing errands around the house, or just idly browsing the web. Please know that this podcast will not only be about the 476th; we really want it to be about the entire DCS Community going forward. In the first episode, we start things off by talking about our experiences being a part of a virtual squadron. Please give us your feedback, and let me know if there are topics you'd like us to cover, and perhaps interviews you like us to land. We're going to try to include everyone, from the ED forum Moderators to 3rd party developers, to members of other virtual squadrons. How frequent will the episodes be? Variable. Sometimes weekly, bi-weekly, but hopefully never more than monthly. CURRENT EPISODE: Episode 12: Pete "Olie" Olson, retired A-10 pilot! Please enjoy! How do I listen?! 1. Play from your browser or download the mp3: http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php?257-podcast OR 2. Subscribe via RSS Feed to get episodes automatically: http://the476th.podbean.com/feed/ OR 3.
