Pepto the 3 mode switch is an excellent feature. I use it to put all my necessary A-A switches on Mode 1, Nav on Mode 2, and when Hornet comes out, A-G will be Mode 3. The idea is not to have 3 different airplanes on at the same time. You can very simply create profiles for each aircraft, then in the system icons, right click and select A-10, or F-15, etc etc.

ah, my ranting was a bit pre-mature, i actually found that using the software, i can make keys press-and-release which solves ghost buttons while adding a very minimal amount of time to button holding :D also my original idea was to map all the necessary switches and buttons on the stick/throttle and map those to certain buttons, ie numpad 5 can be radar pulse-receiver cycle for the flanker and RWS/TWS for the eagle :smartass:

I suffer from an occasional ghost press but it's so rare that I haven't seen the need to buy a usb hub.
A work-around is to add delayed key presses in the H.U.D. software. Now, I have to hold SW 2 for .3 sec before my gear comes down. Set it up by adding a 'New Advanced Command'. In the 'Press' row, add "Shift+G Shift+G". Quantize time to 0 and set a delay on the first shift to .3.
It also works great if you map Eject to your hotas
it seems like your solution is the most logical seeing as i have absolutely no interest in windows 10, but then again i'm VERY reluctant to use the saitek software, because, and excuse my ranting, honestly 3 profiles?? that's it?? that's just ridiculous like yeah cool i can program 3 modules how is that helpful in a sim like dcs where all the modules vary all across the board from different time periods and countries and uses, even the FC3 planes like the eagle and flanker require unique tuning in terms of radar and such it's absolutely absurd
(PS if this is not how the software works then i apologize for making myself look like an ass in public :P)

Pepto. X55 has rumoured problems with stability which is exacerbated by win8 over zealous power saving.
I will post this link to an Arma thread for x55 which explores some solutions. Arma is very sensitive to controlelr issues. In Arma you don't just get phantom presses you lose the entire controller and have to restart the game.
This is why Arma has a solid thread on x55 issues and solutions. I have no problems now that I use a quality powered HUB AND I disable power saving for USB hub chain to my controller and then I leave the controller plugged in all the time. If you unplug the controller Win8 resets UBB power saving settings on the USB chain. Back to having problems again.
This is just my experience. Good Luck.
this must be it as i am running windows 8.1, thank you for bringing this to light, i'll try and see what i can do!

some of you might remember my post about the ch pro products or the x55 and i gotta say i wasn't too thrilled with the idea of waiting for lord knows how long for the ch pro throttle to come back into stock i got myself the x55 instead, and now i'm honestly starting to regret it a bit.
the ghost presses on the throttle are absolutely crippling, i cannot even begin to tell you how many times i've had my landing gear ripped off in high speed flight because of it, canopies jettisoned, engines shut down, ect. i don't have teamspeak so that problem goes out the window, i tried plugging it into a USB 3.0 port that works fine with my stick but that doesn't work either. i noticed it is especially terrible with the FC3 aircraft, the F-15 is the least flyable of all, and i don't exaggerate when i say that, i have manipulated the throttle in the controls page and from going full back to the forward position i had about 3 ghost presses.
i am running out of options as i spent all my money on a new setup and this issue is just pushing me further away from wanting to fly in any sims :joystick::helpsmilie:

many thanks mugen!

Did you try resetting the AutoPilot? I think its "left Alt+ 9"
yes i actually mapped that and my autopilot to two buttons on my hotas, although the autopilot would literally throw itself out of its own jurisdiction, so i couldn't tell if the flanker was acting off of the autopilot or not
-
ah well, i guess the most i can do is ask around and see if anyone else has had the same problem
-
is there a way to go back and find older tracks?
-
yesterday i was trying to navigate waypoints but accidently switched to return mode which threw off the autopilot, and when i went back to the normal nav mode it went berserk and started tossing my poor flanker around while trying to get back to the waypoint course literally to the point that it stalled me out while i was being thrashed around like fish on land (and of course there's always the horrid rocking back and forth that we all know and love :P)
-
so if i were to land on grass what should i keep a close eye on? speed and decent speed? breaks or no breaks? trim? so far i've mainly been trying to focus on the slip indicated to get the straightest landing possible :joystick:
-
I have been taking off and landing on the grass, it just takes a little more concentration, anyway I know for myself that is the case. Also some fields are better than others for doing this. Here's one thats not very pretty to look at :P
well at least i know it isn't totally impossible, looks like i have some practicing to do :smartass:
-
now trust me i'm no expert on this but i've seen a ton of footage from WWII where the aircraft would be taking off from fields rather than concrete runways, however in dcs it's pretty clear that trying to takeoff or land on any grassy area is pretty much suicide  i think it would be really cool if we got some sort of grassy airfield for the WWII modules, especially with the VEAO and dcs spits coming 'round the corner, it just seems more fitting than having your home base be a modern airport :P
-
i have to say i thought this was long dead but wow this really did make my day many thanks
-
i mean not a WHOLE lot but it's still just nice for authenticity, plus it's one less button to take up space on your joystick or throttle
-
i was just wondering why there isn't any axis command for toebraking because if i am not mistaken, the T-10S had them installed which carried over to the Su-27
either that or i just missed them :P
-
well it appears that fate has either chained be back or thrown be a bone in terms of what i should pick because i just noticed that the CH throttle is out of stock so i guess the deciding factor would be if it can come back in stock once i actually have the money ready :P
-
after a lot of research and thinking and reading of these comments i think i will be going with the cH stick/throttle/pedals  a very big thanks to everyone who replied, your input was very useful! :D
-
thank you all for your input :smartass: rudder pedals shouldn't be a problem as i'm operating with a price range of about 450$-475$
another question i should probably ask is how flexible are the x55 and CH stick/throttle in terms of variety? i range from all dcs products to falcon bms to more arcade-type games like war thunder to simple fly around games like FSX and prepar3D, i think i would be leaning on the x55 for that seeing as the CH throttle has much less range in functionality
also on a bit of a side note i'm still wrapping my head around the x55 software and programming, is it not possible to simply input desired commands through the dcs control menu (or any other game control menu at that) or is it really buggy?
-
so a little while back i made a x55 or warthog post but after doing some more digging i found some interesting stuff about the CH sticks/throttle (the thrustmaster is simply just not an option due to price vs what i think it really is worth in terms of practicality and flexibility with other modules and sims) i heard that CH actually designs sticks for real world usage ie construction vehicles and military sticks but anywho i was wondering how it would hold up against the apparently flashy but sometimes unreliable x55. one point that was brought up in the video i watched was how while it may be plastic on the outside the actual system is metal which i found interesting. however i am a bit wary of the throttle, i'm a bit concerned with the lack of switches and rotaries, although there is certainly no shortage of hat switches :P. no doubt because they are rather clearly based off of the stick and throttle of the F-16 it seems like it would be certainly good for BMS but what about DCS? i'm not too worried about other more relaxed games like Il-2 and war thunder. finally if i do choose the CH stick/throttle over the rhino, should i get the fighterstick or the combatstick? a trim hat seems a little awkward for use as a tms/dms/castle switch/whateveryouwannacallthem and if i wanted to i could use one of the very plentiful hat switches on the throttle to serve as a dms switch leaving the hat on the stick for slewing or vise versa
the reason i came to here was because of the severe lack of videos on it that were not just for elite dangerous or star citizen so please good people of the ED forums shower me in your thoughts and opinions :smartass:

a few times i noticed that at high speeds (usually above mach 1) the aircraft begins shaking and when i look behind me the rudder are flapping away like flags in a strong wind, it isn't an every time thing to happen so i was wondering if it was simply part of the pfm and what causes it :P
-
thanks for your help! these should prove to be very helpful

in the F-15 if you end up locking a friendly you have multiple notifications that it's friendly, the target lock box has an X in it and plus you can even identify the aircraft on the radar screen.
now jump over to the Su-27 and say you're in a bit of a furball and there are friendlies and enemies everywhere but you have a very limited amount of time to check and a visual check simply isn't going to work given the confusion, how do you know that you aren't about to splash a friendly? is there some sort of HUD symbology?
i originally thought that it would simply deny you the LA queue but that doesn't seem very helpful because say you're in BVR mode and you lock someone up but you happen to be like me and think that the only way to tell if it's friendly is if you don't get the LA when you get in range, that means that you have to chase down the target until you get in range and see if you get LA
this could be total nonsense and i could just be blind but any help would be great :D

reading these i wonder if it really is just the load. i had this problem after starting a create a fast mission and i just went with the default load they give you, maybe that was the problem?
-
i find that it's actually helpful in multiplayer for signalling that you're on a runway if someone is about to take off at the same time given the disorganization and chaos that's going on. also if say you crash/emergency land and you're stuck on the runway until you can be repaired it's a good way of getting other people's attention as a warning for when they takeoff or land :P

sadly i find that "a little neglected" is a pretty big understatement, i mean it doesn't even have it's own subsection in the FC3 part of the forum :(
