One thing regarding SA, try flying an F-15 and you will notice how much SA the RWR and the radar give. It is harder to maintain the same SA in the flanker, however that challenge makes it more rewarding IMO.

I found this a few minutes ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-ztpdElDWU Someone added the direct control mode to the Su-33. Doesn't this mean the maneuver is scripted?
-
Will changing any of the numbers have an effect on the player controlled aircraft, for example changing the maximum radar scan range?
-
I've seen all your mods and I can't believe I went over it. I thought it would be light gray, exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks a lot Devrim! Your mods make the game much more enjoyable!

Is there a black Su-27 cockpit mod , is it hard to convert the grey one?

Well evading an amraam fired within the no escape zone is tough, if fired from outside(you have to assume a TWS shot) keep the bandit at the edge of your radar's gimbals. This helps by making the missile travel a larger distance and if you say move from the left edge to the right the missile will have to turn which causes it to lose a lot of energy. If fired within the no escape zone, the diving technique usually works. Roll the aircraft on it's back and dive while releasing chaff, once your low enough the amraam's radar will confuse you for ground clutter. Make sure you are however perpendicular to the missile( what I mean is that your speed relative to the missile should be really low). You can sometimes out maneuver it, by diving and pulling hard when it becomes close, this doesn't always work. However if you press S and pull up and your speed is high it will miss, but once the g-effects on the air frame are implemented this technique is suicide. Determining at what distance was fired from is up to you, you have to rely on how fast it is closing in via your RWR. Try creating a mission and placing an F-15 at the distance you want to try evading the missile at. The ai will always fire directly.

For the engine make sure your throttle is set to 0.

I guess it is a bug then. It also works if I lock a target with the irst though, maybe ED increased the seeker's range?
-
If I hold the lock it always guides towards the target(it still goes for the flares though) if the lock is broken the seeker tracks the closest heat source. As I said in the op it will go for other missiles sometimes when the lock is broken. Is this how the missile behaves in RL? The in-game encyclopedia says it has inertial guidance.
-
Can anyone confirm that the R-27ET has mid course correction as of DCS 1.2.12? I'm getting a launch authorization at 80% Rmax every time, and if I break the lock the missile will sometimes start guiding towards the closest heat source (which is sometimes an amraam lol)
-
I found this by mistake, I was trying out the F-15's TEWS against an Su-27 with R-77's attached. However the AI was only firing the R-27ET, so I switched roles and noticed it works. It doesn't even need an IRST lock, you only hear a radar lock but of course no incoming missile warning.

It also seems like gravity is playing a larger role; when doing the cobra without any weapons and little fuel, when the aoa reaches around above 90 the increase in altitude stops and slightly decreases. However, if weapons are attached there is little altitude increase as and after reaching aoa of 90 the altitude starts decreasing even though the nose is pointing upwards. I also noticed something weird, I was able to fire an R-27ET with a radar lock at 80% Rmax. The slammer didn't have time to go active lol
-
Was anything besides the empty weight changed? All my tracks play incorrectly now. I had one where I finally got the parameters right to get a cobra with 10m altitude increase only (I just kept the g load under 3). If I replay that the plane just crashes.

I'm trying to add features to the Su-27 to make it similar to the Su-27SM.( If I do get somewhere I'll make this into a mod) I've added the R-77 to the weapons it can carry. Now according to this website(http://www.niip.ru/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13:-l-r-l-r-lr&catid=8:2011-07-06-06-33-26&Itemid=8) The Su-27SM should be able to engage two targets, is there anyway to add that? Or simply to "copy" the mig-29s' radar to the Su-27? Thank you
-
It would be a nice feature to add but I don't think ED will work on it unless there is an ASM Flanker in the works as according to the flight manual it isn't really useful.

Not to sound like I'm not happy with the Su-27 module (I'm really enjoying it) but it seems like the S key is just implemented so you can do "out of envelope maneuvers" such as the cobra. The cobra requires turning off more than one switch, not the limiter only, as per the following account of an F-18 pilot : We discussed the Cobra in our flight brief. It went something like this: Me: "I would like you to show me the Cobra maneuver." Kvochur: "Yes, sure." Me: "What entry airspeed and altitude should we use?" Kvochur extended the fingers of both hands in a calming gesture and said: "I show you." That was it. I looked toward our interpreter for a read on this physical punctuation, but she returned the internationally universal shoulder shrug. So I took his brevity as an admonition against prying too much into this top-secret aerobatic phenomenon and made a mental note to be prepared to absorb as much technical data as I could during his demo. When I was ready for the demo, he had me turn off the angle of attack limiter and another fly-by-wire switch that was never explained completely to me. Then he said, "I do one. We do one. You do one." The setup was 350 kilometers per hour (approximately 190 knots) in straight and level flight. He pulled the stick all the way back, and the airplane pitched nose up past vertical. In a little more than one second, we were more than 90 degrees nose up after the stick pull. He recovered the plane back to straight and level, and the maneuver was complete. The speed was about 90 knots as the nose approached the horizon. During the "We do one," I was again surprised at the non-aggressive control inputs. He used large pedal displacements during the first half of the pitch-up then transitioned to differential throttle control to keep the roll and yaw minimized. For the nose-down recovery, the stick was moved well forward but not all the way. Differential throttle that gave way to rudder-pedal activity essentially kept us wings-level throughout. My turn: I replicated what I had just ridden through, and the results were the same. I didn’t get past 90 degrees nose up like Kvochur, but I was awed anyway. Despite the radical attitude change, the entire maneuver was completed under 3G. Throughout this seemingly suicidal contortion, the engines never complained, and there was no implication of an impending loss of control. Fun complete, I switched the limiter and fly-by-wire switches back to their normal positions, and we headed back.

In most videos we can see planes like the Su-27 releasing flares at a fast rate while in game we have to press the flare button repetitively only to get a slower rate of flare release. Is there a way around this ?

Have you tried lock on files?

[DCS World FC3] Complete Su-27 English Cockpit Mod
rami80 replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Will this still work with the new flanker? -
Thank's for the directions Mazen, I'll try them in a while:D Maybe it's because the su-27 in DCS doesn't kill enough speed during the cobra, if you notice after he does the hook his speed is very low.
-
This is awesome! Could you maybe give us an outline of how you were able to achieve this?
-
Has anyone been able to do a perfect cobra i.e. no altitude gain? Would love to see videos:D Edit: Slight altitude gain. I keep getting 100+ meters.
-
Does anyone have an HSI which is just stuck in its place and not moving? When I get to the landing stage the vertical needle stays all the way left and horizontal one stays all the way down. I am waiting around 5 mins before take off. I think they're called ILS bars.

The trailer says it is available now, but I can't download it through the module manager or website(It's still not available). I won't try to use open beta because it broke while updating(got stuck on initializing).:helpsmilie:
