I'm in a similar position and I just logged online a couple times. It is already hard to come from the frantic close encounters of WWI, brushing wings (incomparable), but to face these many issues here is not that promising. But they came a long way from the last version that I had, so who knows... But coming from another sim with similar problems does not help to keep the hopes up. What I can't understand is that these things are so basic and deal breakers; nonetheless several other unimportant features are developed instead. Perhaps visibility needs a complete code overhaul, hence why they won't touch it? Or is it sort of an easy fix?

THanks for the feedback AD. The 1070 would be a dream. Maybe a Volta GTX 2060 will get close.

Cool, I'll check the server's rules. I was reading the 104th one, but this one is for modern jets. For now I'll stick to WWII birds. From what I was seeing in the forum, the servers with modern jets tends to have more rules of taxiing and radio.

OK, thanks, I'll pay attention

Hi guys, yesterday / today for the first time I got into a couple of empty servers just to check ping, stuttering, lag, that kind of thing. The last one was already morning and two players spawned, and I started to think about taxiing priority, takeoff direction, that sort of thing, which I know nothing. So how does it work ingame? Is there a control tower to clear you for take-off? Are you assigned to a proper runway threshold? For example, the windsock was perpendicular to my nearest threshold (it appeared so), so there was no preferential end of the runway to take-off. When I landed (I just circled the airfield left wise) I saw a parked plane at the other end of the airfield. Then I took a shortcut through the grass (taxiing out) to avoid a collision course in case he taxied to his threshold. I could not see the windsock from the air, then how can people identify the traffic pattern? How do people avoid / order these things? In fact I should have taxied back and left the server to ask these things, my apologies. I am used to ROF. I'm also reading MikeMikeJuliet's guide TRAFFIC PATTERNS, RADIO NAVIGATION AND APPROACH. I found related topics on airfield traffic but nothing about WWII server etiquette in airfields. Appreciate any feedback,

THanks, and that is weird, because then I have three defective units  I'll take a look into it.

My mistake (bad explanation). The card was crashing the video and I thought it was some safety measure from the PSU due to overheating. I redid the cable connections and it stopped. Yesterday I measured the temp with a sensor and the PSU was at 40ºC. I think it is more, because 40ºC it is almost body temperature. I can keep my hand on it, but it looks like a small oven. I was reading that tissue damage occurs at temperatures of 50 to 60 degrees Centigrade. (122/140deg F). So 40ºC might be right. Maybe today I'll play DCS a bit with another termometer that I have. I'll compare the temps. My HX650W (don't game with it) and my AX750W do the same thing. They heat up and never spin, because my load with ROF was always below 350W (I have a no-break with power indicator). So I am not sure at what temperature the fan will spin. Corsair says the fan only spins at a certain load, as far as I remember. As a comprarison, I had an old Zalman without passive cooling and it operated waaaay cooler than all my Corsairs. Then I built a backup system with the Zalman and replaced it by the HX650W. During the summer my system temperatures rose considerably because of it (I have a Sileo 500 in my backup system that is like a cocoon). Hence the gripe.

I'm still happy with my PSUs, but the passive cooling could be a problem in poor ventilated cases. But the fact that they don't collect dust is a plus.

What's with P-51 versus Fw 190 in Dogfights ?
SeaW0lf replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Cool, I'll check Racoon's posts. The search function is a bit tricky for who seldom visits the forum. I could miss some important topics or take a lot of time to find what's relevant. Thanks for the help  -
What's with P-51 versus Fw 190 in Dogfights ?
SeaW0lf replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Is there any other thread? I read this one and I could not find a conclusion. I am sort of new to DCS. Are they going to review the module? I ask this because I have two WWII modules since 2014 and never really played DCS. Several setbacks kept me from playing the game, this one included. Now, with the 1.5 version I find it much better, so I am setting my G940 and stuff. But this is important, hence the question, especially if they sampled an early P-51D version and they are really reviewing the module. -

Is this common ground historically speaking -- that 67 was in the very beginning and 75 is the standard / common version or not? -
Yeah, I need to open a topic at Corsair forum to complain about it. A serious engineer would never believe what they did. But nowadays most graphics cards have this problem as well. They keep making these worthless gimmicks. Right now I think it was dust in the cable, because I closed the case and it is no craching, but the PSU is hot as hell. And Corsair has lots of rebranded Seasonics. My old AX750W was a Seasonic (or the HX of my backup system I am not sure). I was considering a Be Quiet (has no passive cooling last time I saw). But this is for the future. The good part about it is that these PSUs don't collect dust at all

Is DCS topping 3GB at 1920X1200p? Geez... Then I'll wait for Volta because I think a 1060 6GB is not worth the investment. I just found out that my problem was PSU overheating -- mine has passive cooling below 50% usage and was overheating (RM750W). Which is insane -- why not set the passive cooling by temperature? Or it was because I re-made the connections and I'm thinking it's the PSU. We never know with PCs.

Cool, yeah, if I find anything I'll post here

Hi guys (wazzup Demon), sorry for the hijacking, but would a MSI GTX 1060 3GB do a good job with DCS (BOS also) for 2560X1080p? Or should I buy the 6GB version? It can get to a $100 difference in Brazil. My GTX 770 Lightning is unstable in gaming and it might be dying (a couple contact pins have missing tips and that sort of thing -- I was testing various coolers and had to take it off several times. I also replaced the thermal paste and the thermal pads might have lost the grip and the VRM could be overheating (need to check that). But the temps are good -- 67ºC at AIDA64 (all parts checked) with 30ºC room temperature. Anyway, it is getting old. I just own and play occasionally ROF, DCS and BOS and I won't upgrade my monitor to a 3540X1440p that soon. In case I do, it will be along with a beefier card, hence why I do not want to go all in with this upgrade. But if 3GB is not enough for these games (I know that 3GB is more than enough for ROF) I'll rather spend more in a 6GB version. Appreciate any feedback, SeaW0lf

Awesome mate! Thanks! I'll check it out Cool, I'll give it a try. I need to see if the "zoom in slow" only works in a slide. I used to have the zoom in the two lateral buttons and use the wheel for mixture (ROF).
-
I am also not finding where the zoom is. What I found was the "Cockpit View" / Zoom In - Zoom out, but it only works in one step -- normal cockpit view and super zoomed view. It is set to two buttons in my throttle handle (G940). Is there a place where can I set a smooth / gradual zoom in and out?
-
Yeah, way of saying. The name says it all "tracers".
-
Yeah, multiplayer gets feisty and the game cannot skimp on combat / damage model / gun features. I went to check and DCS seems to be 8 years old (I have my modules shelved since 2014), and this makes me think that they won't work on these things? I also miss the tracers in the P-51D. Even at night, when I imagine the tracers would light up like a Christmas tree, they have a discrete random blink (it is more like an arcade effect that has nothing about the bullets) and do not light up all the way to the target. How do people aim without tracers?
-
Cool, I'll try with "large" because mine was off (newbie in DCS). Do the WWII servers use this setting (large) or they keep it off? I am new / trying to adapt, but my only interest is multiplayer. Cheers,
-
Do you have FFB on the P-51 guns? All the WWII birds for that matter. I am trying to find where is the setup.
-
Hi guys, I know this is an old post, but I have a G940 and I see no gun shaking. Which option is this? Because I can only access the FFB menu through pitch / roll / rudder controls, and there is no gun option, just Trimmer and Shake. I cannot find a general FFB menu. Cheers, SeaW0lf

It would be great to see some WWI planes represented by a professional team. Even if they only make a few of them -- and by the way DCS do things it would be the most notorious scouts -- it would still make for a good dogfight arena. They will probably do a detailed research and be more professional and not so crowd oriented, and this is a good way to sell the planes, to restore WWI prowess, since 777 Studios flat leveled the almost entire lineup of rotary scouts of Rise of Flight with the Christmas overhaul of 2014, notably Sopwith Camel, Fokker Dr.I, Sopwith Tripe and Sopwith Pup. All of this without any research, just to please people who don't have any knowledge of aviation history. An example is the Sopwith tripe, better than Albatros D.III in all respects, including speed (historically speaking). It was one of the best flight models of ROF, a pleasure to fly and very challenging, not for the usual pilot, but with the Christmas overhaul it became an old scabby dog. They literally killed a legend of WWI. More or less the same goes to the other affected rotary planes. What was to be a fix in a couple of planes to make it right -- D.III and D.Va especially -- ended up being a mess-up of the whole middle lineup of fighters. What they did was so nonsensical that the planes specs shown on the website are still the original ones, even after they remodeled the website. The new people have absolutely no idea what they are buying 'into'. The game became simply useless for competitive pilots who research and have a good idea of how things were. They also use an "intuitive" flight model, so they can't get the altitude performance right. Their speed charts for altitude and max speed are so bogus that it can hardly be called a simulator in modern standards. So, yeah, would be nice to see a professional / competitive team working on these planes for a change. I would jump right in, because I dearly miss my ROF mounts. Never flew 'them' again.

Oh, thanks again, Shagrat. I will keep in mind to deactivate before any changes in the machine. That will most probably solve it.
-
I think I got it. I just downloaded the plane, installed it, and I was asked for the serial number when I started the mission, which I provided. I didn't play it yet, but I think it is unlocked. But during the activation it was shown a message that I have 9 activations left. This means every time I reinstall Windows I will lose one activation? For who tunes and builds rigs, two or three OS reinstalls a year is common. I think I reinstalled ROF several times over the last four years. Do I get to lose my purchase over time or there is a solution for that? In ROF the purchase is linked to the profile, so no matter how much I change my computer or how many times I install the game, my shed will always have my planes. Would be nice to get some tips about it. And thanks for the help, Shagrat.
