  1. Make sure that you follow the start up checklist as it is in the manual if starting from cold and dark. Another thing that might be a problem is that although you set the radio station in the ATC menu, you also need to set the frequency in the cockpit, unlike many other planes. On the right wall of the cockpit, RV9-13, there is a black box with a switch that looks like a red cross. You have to twist it until the number of the ATC station is set. The ATC stations are on the kneeboard. ctrl up, and then ctrl left until you get to this. For example, Nalchik is channel 14 and Sochi is channel 17. Hope this helps.
  2. To be frankly honest, I think that it's not the best doing it in this engine, but once DCS 2.0 comes out, it should definitely be on the to-do list imho. Once again from FSX, taking Aerosoft's Airport Enhancement Services as an example, it would be really nice to see the little things being done to the plane during a turnaround too. Instead of fresh missiles casually just spawning on the wings a guy with a trolley would come, same for the fuel, GPU, and ground crew. Possibly even a marshaller :)
  3. I would like to start off by saying that this is hands down my favourite module for DCS!! I suppose that this would be a completely new thing in DCS, but could it be a possibility? My dad used to work as a ground technician with the MiG-21 in the Czechoslovak Air Force, and often talks about the large amounts of work going on around the plane as it was preparing to depart, especially in a scramble situation. He loves the DCS module, but this is one of the parts that is most lacking for him and tbh I agree with him. I was wondering if it would be possible to include little things like: Truck next to the aircraft when the ground power is on. (The MiG-21MF for FSX by Ivan Jurcaga simulates this) Mechanic doing last minute checks, such as taking out the ejection seat safety pin, closing the canopy, taking away the ladder and removing chocks. (The pilots always looked out for the mechanic showing them the safety pin before they would move anywhere) Just my idea, but I believe that it would greatly enhance the sim :)
  4. The DCS: L-39 by ED should be coming out 'soon'. Probably the best idea is to wait for it. Virtual display teams do have their own L-39, but as far as I am aware they are not for public use.
  5. You have to take into account that the Sukhoi modelled in FC3 is of the original variant. Later models have very advanced A2G sensors and munitions. Unfortunately, they are not present in DCS. The Su-33, on the other hand can carry a range of A2G munitions, some of which are very effective against ships. Hopefully, one day it will also get an PFM, surely it can't be that much more work than for the Su-27..
  6. You also need to have an active route set.
  7. Have the MiG already, it's awesome. Think that these giveaways are a bit pointless the way that they are. It would be much more rewarding for everyone if there were entries, such as drawings or videos, and a winner was chosen. Something for something. You do a good drawing of a MiG-21, and you can have the DCS copy :)
  8. Would quite like an aircraft that can be used for x purposes For example an An-26, you can use it for military transport as well as civilian duties, there can be loads of modifications and skins to it, and it would suit the Caucasus theater. Then a Yak-52 or even a Zlin, something that can also be used both for civil and military flights. I'm fed up with Cessnas from FSX :D I understand VEAO is making a Grob Tutor, which will kind of fill the gap for light aircraft for a while :)
  9. I want a Hawk
  10. Congrats!
  11. Awesome, but just a quick note on the Czechoslovak Air Force roundels. The blue part is always facing forward (Correct) and the red part is always facing inward towards the bottom of the fuselage (not correct on the left wing). It would be a shame for all the Czech and Slovak fans if this was left as it is. Looking forward to it!!
  12. Surely isn't auto centering the best? I flew sims some time before I got a stick (one of the best things I bought) and there were two different control systems. The first as in IL-2, where everything auto centered itself and the other one, like in FSX/2004, where it didn't. I must say that the auto centering was much better, it actually made the plane controllable and I was able to make quick changes to the control surfaces.
  13. I use it a lot for 'civil' purposes in learning to fly the different high fidelity models and lately practicing the cobra, but for combat too, but mainly with the FC3 models and MiG-21. Not too much into the ground attack myself. But I think that there should be more into the civil areas, especially when the two new maps come out. Some light aircraft or helos would be awesome, just to mess around in, or even doing a cityspotting tour around Dubai or Vegas.
  14. Unfortunately, since the history of the Second World War is so well known throughout the world, the symbol will be primarily associated with nacism, at least for the next few centuries, even though it has been used by other, peaceful groups for hundreds of years. Makes it a bit sad, really..
  15. It shouldn't be a problem, it's only a question of changing the textures and possibly the helping popups. Would be nice to have a Czech version in the initial release though.
  16. DCS: L-39 Reading in the last newsletter, I'm extremely happy that after the cancellation of the Patriots Albatros there's another one on the way! I have a few questions about it: Are the variants going to be modelled, i.e. the C, ZO, and ZA? Possibly even the CM and ZAM? Are there going to be options for different languages in the cockpit, for example the Russian, Czech and English? These are the two points which I think that, at least for me, were the main disadvantages of the Lotus Simulations L-39 for FSX, and it would be great to see these in the DCS version :) ED, thank you once more for developing this wonderful airplane!
  17. There was a Su-33 carrier training mission which involved carrier takeoff, air refueling, attacking some ships and a drone and a carrier landing. It's good fun if you want some quick practice. I can't wait until the Su-33 PFM comes out, which should hopefully be relatively soon after the Su-27 and the carrier landings won't be as scripted anymore.
