  1. I apologize if this is already posted and will happily follow a link if provided. I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for right away. Can someone explain what this setting actually is and what it does. Is there a thread that explains what each graphics/VR setting actually does and how it affects VR and overall performance? But, mostly, what is pixel density and what does it do, exactly???
  2. Although I'm not happy to be having issues, I am glad to see that other people are getting the "steam flicker" thing. I thought there was something wrong with my system or VR but, if others are experiencing it, then it is way more likely to be a DCS issue.
  3. I'm going to go with grafspee's explanation being correct. And given that, I just have to say that, this kind of attention to detail is what makes me spend so much time in this one over the other one.....even though the other one is getting a pony soon, it won't be near as bada** awesome as this one is
  4. I get your point about them not wanting to unnecessarily burn up parts that aren't needed. And also, that they would not regularly push the a/c to situations where a pilot fighting for his life would. However, my point was, if I try to run on just the mechanical pump, in level flight and drawing from the wing tanks, the engine will die. I will have to check to see at what other specific man press and rpm this happens at but, I do know that at 40-45 mp and 27 rpm, the engine will die on the pump alone if drawing from wing tanks in level flight. My question is, "is this correct"? Because it doesn't seem like it. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. This seems like a bug but may not be. Why can I fly with all aux tanks (fuse, and drop tanks) without the fuel booster but, if I try to fly with the wing tanks, I HAVE to use the fuel booster? Obviously, or at least apparently, there is a mechanical pump providing fuel pressure to the engine and works fine except when the wing tanks are in selected. Also, I've watched a few YouTube videos of people flying real p51's and they turn off the fuel booster after takeoff and turn it on right before landing. In this game, the engine dies if it isn't on and you are drawing from the wing tanks.
  6. Hi, Just wanted to say that, this server looks like someone put some time and effort into it and it doesn't appear to be very popular. For my part, I find the whole thing extremely overwhelming. As someone coming to it completely cold, I have almost no idea on what is going on, what I'm supposed to be doing and how to find out. After spending an hour or so, going to the website, and joining the server/reading the brief, etc., I think I might just now have something of an inclining of what might be going on. However, the whole SRS thing is a bit of a mystery. Anyway, I'm not going to continue typing just to say the very simple thing that: For people, like me, that have no idea what is going on, WAY more and SIMPLE explanation is very much needed. Otherwise, we, the ignorant, are just going to turn away from it.
  7. Is there a way to set head movement limits for each a/c in VR. It's not a huge issue but, I'd like to be able to set a limit so that my "head" doesn't pass beyond the canopy or behind the seat when I'm in a dogfight. Thanks,
  8. My vote, flesh out the current map adding RAF Leiston for us Yoxford fanbois
  9. My hope (and I'd even be willing to pay again for this I want it so much) is that the Normandy map is finished. Terrain cleaned up, cities (on both sides of the channel) put in where they belong, and PLEASE add RAF Leiston. We have the P51, we have skins for the 357th and no Leiston…. :(
  10. I'd like to follow your suggestion but I don't know what you are talking about. Can you explain? Thanks
  11. ha, I was actually thinking pretty much the same thing
  12. Awesome. Just tried it out and it is exactly what I was wanting to do. Thank you very much.
  13. Basically, I am wondering if there is a way to play, at will any mission within a campaign. I don't see any way to select any specific mission within a campaign in the DCS campaign GUI screen. There are some missions in the campaigns that I would like to load up and play over and over again as I enjoy the scenario etc. Is there a way to do this? How? Thanks, Ok, so I found this: Which is what I am asking about. Is there a better way? I mean, if I want to just randomly replay a few of the missions in any campaign using this method, I would have to have several of these lua's saved and just load up the correct one which, while it would work, would be a bit onerous.
  14. Can the kneeboard be repositioned and resized?
  15. Airplane modules in this sim are, quite simply, much more enjoyable to fly than those in the biggest modern WWII sim. However, gameplay in this sim is, quite frankly, suck. Things like: A WWII Normandy map that is SOOO under finished as to have land where water is and large swaths of land where it is evident development was planned and never implemented. And, for crying out loud, we have the P51D and the stupid map doesn't even include Leiston???? There are multiple problems with this unfinished project but, I can not imagine it would be that hard to remove land from the map where land should NOT exist. Anyway, I keep coming back to this after periods of inactivity on DCS in the hopes of seeing important gameplay aspects fixed because, of the two, this is the one I WANT to play; it is the one I most want to see succeed but, alas, I fear it will not happen
  16. 1. I do hope that sometime soon, the Normandy map is updated so as to fill in the entire area in which it encompasses and, baring that, at the very least, remove land from those areas where land doesn't exist 2. Does anybody know of a good third party map that encompasses London, Berlin and Paris; i.e., the vast majority of the North Western European Front? (I hope that someday DCS offers this map for sale) Thanks,
  17. It's too bad that this issue hasn't been resolved yet. I really want to fly this sim but I just can't. If I move my head too quickly, I'm just inviting a stupid freeze. Granted, this isn't the only thing that causes it nor does it cause it all the time but it sure raises the chances. I use track IR and I I turn my head too quickly, that is when the freezes happen (most of the time) and it doesn't seem to matter how long or short. I've had it happen TWICE just now just after launching while sitting on the runway. I have no unofficial mods or addons. Strictly DCS stuff from Steam.
  18. 1. @josche. You are welcome. That is the reason I posted it in Caps in the subject line. I spent several frustrating hours searching forums, installing, uninstalling before I managed to find the solution. Then I noticed trek's post on this forum. 2. @trek. Thank you for the update. I will try it out when I get home from work tonight.
  19. I don't know if this applies to the Caucasus Map yet or not (I haven't flown that one yet) but, Normandy STILL freezes when flown. No consistent amount of time or situation. Sometimes happens quickly, sometimes close to an hour can go by. It is usually proceeded by a few "micro freezes" for me. This is NOT new. I have seen discussions of this happening on this forum for months with little to no acknowledgement from ED. This concerns me.
  20. I just wanted this posted in caps in the title so if people are wondering what to do about their DCS world not launching, maybe this will help them.
  21. First of all, THIS NEEDS TO POSTED AS A STICKY POST WITH THE TITLE: "Spitfire LF Mk IX DLC on Steam will cause DCS World on Steam to fail to lauch" I've spent hours searching forums and threads and never once found this as a solution to my query, wording as some form of "Steam DCS World doesn't lauch" All kinds of non-solutions. Wasted time uninstalling, reinstalling downloading troubleshooting and it is just a simple ED needs to fix their Spitfire problem. I am so.....grrrr..... Secondly, THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ED!!
  22. I don't think, or know if the repair script will work on a steam install. I DID get it to launch when I disabled all of my DLC Modules. Now I'm going back and reinstalling them one by one to find the culprit. ....time consuming Update...It is the stupid Spitfire. I found a post on the steam forum about the spitfire that indeed says this. THIS SHOULD BE BOTH ADDRESSED ASAP AND FOR ......SAKE, IT SHOULD BE IN BOLD STICKY BULLET SAYING STEAM SPTIFIRE WILL CAUSE DCS ON STEAM TO NOT START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent hours reading "why steam DCS wont launch" forum threads and never ONCE SAW THIS. I wasted time deleting, reinstalling etc etc I am a little frustrated right now
  23. I can NOT seem to get my Steam version of DCS world to start. I've tried many different things to no avail up to and including uninstall/reinstall. I have a feeling that something, a registry key, a config file somewhere, or something else is remaining behind during the uninstall and it is messed up so the game will not launch. If someone could outlay where all the files are and registry keys that are associated with DCS World so I can make sure that they are all gone before I attempt to reinstall, that would be helpful in this extremely frustrating and maddening ordeal. Thanks
  24. This is a real problem. I just bought Normandy and "upgraded" to 2.2.0 so that I could play it. I don't know if this problem is a Normandy or 2.2.0 problem but it IS a problem. It presents for me much the same way as it does for RedShoes. It does kind of bother me that, coming here after experiencing this and hoping to find some help, I scanned through 11 pages and several months of post and it doesn't appear that the developers have acknowledged and are working on this. Only a couple of people (not developers as far as I can see) stating that it is somehow the people who are experiencing the problem that are somehow doing something to cause it. The developers NEED to address this. Acknowledge it, offer some solutions (real not the crap that has been doled out here), and fix it. I am a little annoyed and dismayed that I have dropped almost $60 on a Normandy Map WWII weapons pack bundle that is basically unusable for me and I come here and don't see any indication that the people I bought them from even care about the problem.
