  4. With some tweaking one can change the MK108 to a MG151/20 in the motorkanone position. Here is a small mod for that: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=142241 Obviously that is not MP compatible but fun to see the difference and how easy the MG151/20 is to employ compared to the MK108.
  5. Small mod that switches the motorkanonen of the Bf 109 K-4 , from a MK108 to a MG151/20. Standard MG151/20, Rounds capacity: 200, rate of fire 700. Standard mixture of API, HEI and MGshcs rounds. Sound files from the MG151/20 of Fw 190-D9. DOWNLOAD: I do not claim that this is historically accurate as I have not found any definitive documents that would prove so. Only "some" sources that state that the MG151/20 was possibly used as a Motorkanone in the K-4 before the MK108 became a standard. Comparing with the MK108 the MG151/20 in my opinion is much easier to employ effectively from further away, possibly due to a smoother trajectory from higher muzzle velocity and larger ammo capacity. If so - then I am happy :thumbup: Indeed and it is your solution I have been using for quite sometime now :). Thanks for pointing out how to modify the dispersion. :thumbup: I tweaked the Da parameter to a 0.0008 and I tried to build a test range for the A10C on the ground where it would shoot at a concrete wall from 4000ft to test for the exact value of Da but my Mission editor skills failed me. I wanted to see what Da value would result in the 80% of bullets within 5mils at 4000ft. ref. http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/equip/gau-8.htm In the end I resorted to the test range set-up that I used on the YT video and using saved tracks to keep all of the other flight data identical between runs.
  7. It is great that you guys/ladies enjoy it. :) I am sorry , I dont understand what you are trying to say. If you like to return to the old dispersion setting you can just unactivate the mod from JSGME. But I am always happy to hear tanks popping to the sound of `BRRRRRRTTT :thumbup: I indeed activated the Minengeschoß tracer shells (MGschs) and removed the HEI shells alltogether. As far as I know the AP rounds for MK108 are not available in DCS. I do not genuinely know whether the HEI has any actual function in game. Supposedly, they have/had a hydrostatic fuze which would only detonate the charge if it passed into liquid (fuel) causing catastrophic damage. I am somewhat sure that this is not modelled in the AI damage model - hence I felt that I could remove them. I added a bit mass to the shell and more explosive material. To compensate the increased mass I slightly raised the v0 (muzzle velocity). I do not think there is a way to directly increase "damage" of any gun expect by tweaking the parameters of the shells. :smartass: I hope this answers your question :) :pilotfly:

  11. I adore the 30mm monsters that the A10C and Bf-109 K4 have on them. I did however find some issues that needed improvement in my oppinion. This is more of a tweak than a mod per se but I do not think there is a "Tweaks" subforum yet. :) Issues: #1 GAU-8/A Shell dispersion too high , ref. : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117686 #2 The Bf-109 MK108 Cannon seems ineffective against AI : ref.http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=141753 To correct these issues I tweaked some .lua files. The results are shown on the video below. GAU-8/A Dispersion lessened so that most of the bullets now fall within the BATA. Credit to Flagrum for the .lua file solution on this issue MK108 now actually does catastrophic damage to AI (+bonus, it now fires tracers): something like this I do not claim to have any data or proof that these are realistic tweaks. I just thought that someone might find them as enjoyable in their SP gameplay as I have done. Nothing more - nothing less. DOWNLOAD GAU-8 Tweak: DOWNLOAD MK-108 Tweak Changelog: JSGME compatible format 2/2016 Split the tweak into separate files. Tweaked the GAU-8 dispersion value a bit. 6/2016 Fixed MW50 injector not-working issue
  12. I suggest that you try adjusting the WWII/weapons.lua file and add more explosive material to the MK108 bullets to compensate for the bad DM of the AI planes. Might do the trick on SP , of course that is not gonna fly on MP stuff. I have modified the MK108 (more boom!) and the GAU-8/A (less dispersion) shells for my personal use and compiled the changes into JSGME compatible format. :smartass:
  13. Are you using pre-made mission or your own mission? If you are using your own missions, you have to be in proximity of a friendly vehicle as far as I know for the ground crew to respond. So spawn a friendly land vehicle near you. I don't know if they have to be of specific type to provide specific services. Hope this helps a bit :music_whistling:

  17. Industrial springs could do the trick. They make them big and they make them small. Dunno if you can order only 4 of them though. They might send a crate full of them :megalol: . Although in all seriousness estimating the proper measurements (wire d, rotation count, spring constant etc) would be a total guess-game. http://www.industrial-springs.com/
  18. I have had the pleasure of owning a TM Warthog set for quite sometime now. The quality and robustness is amazing and I am very pleased with it. However, I did have problems from the start with the extreme forces required to deflect the stick. As a tabletop controller without any extensions it was quite hard to deflect the stick accurately so I removed the main coil spring and switched the smaller coils on top of the pressure plate. I was very happy with the result because playing DCS did not feel like a workout anymore and subsequently my right forearm was not aching all the time like it was back in high school. :music_whistling: However, flying heli's I realized that the missing center snap is a issue so I tinkered a bit more and found a good compromise modification. The ones that consider tinkering or altering the Warthog controller a heresy be warned: look away :smilewink: P.S. Any tips on where to order proper standardized or custom coil springs?
  19. Very helpful stuff people. Thank you. In less than a day I scored my first kill (against a fighter) with these advises and instructions. For bonus I manage an astonishingly smooth landing . Attached a trk from the fight. about 7-8 minutes in I begin the successful scissors and as PhoenixBvo predicted, and AI had many times before done so, it breaks off and goes for vertical separation rather than overshoot. Subsequently as Solty explained, the Dora and I won the climbing game with a lucky burst.:D *Bows to the community* :pilotfly: P.S. Landing at about 12-14mins. Firstkill.trk
  20. Thank you , I'll try the dot label instead. The vanilla version is a bit too intrusive imo. I have seen that video and that is one of the best vids/piloting that I have seen so far. Thanks for the tips on the scissor execution. :thumbup: I also noticed that my TrackIR settings were on far too sensitive and that caused me to disorient very quickly as the slightest head movement messed my POV and FOV totally. Just FYI for other green pilots...
  21. I am not familiar with these terms. I'll do some research on them This was very helpful and reduced stress and frustration greatly. I'll try to get rid of these assists as I get better. Thanks - I'll begin with those and no, I am not familiar with "Shaw's Bible" I would like to read it if it concerns the subject matter :pilotfly: I activated labels for now to help with keeping track on the bandit. Thanks for the advice and tips guys.
  22. I am new to the Dora but I instantly fell in love with this beauty. After a rough start, I have obtained the skills to takeoff with her with success consistently. However currently I am severely frustrated with learning the dogfighting aspect. :helpsmilie: My frustration level is starting to reach the dreaded "I-am-not-gonna-play-with-you-anymore" - level. :cry: I have studied and read theories and watched Youtube videos. :book: I know the basics of turn fighting, energy fighting, Boom'n'Zoom, merging and gunnery but I cannot for the life of me put this into actual use. What I mean by this is that I am basically stuck in a forever-loop doing the training, shooting down drones and then taking on a P-51D (AI set to average) on mission I created and failing each and every time. Don't even get me started on how I fared on the instant action "Dogfight" mission. I lose immediately sight of the baddie and even with all the odds stacked against the AI ,(=energy disadvantage , 6'o clock starting position for me) in the mission I create, it manages to defeat me.:cry: It counters my every move, it turns at exactly the right time to get outside my performance envelope, it breaks off every time I almost get it to overshoot me on the scissors and so on.... the only thing that seems to be average on this AI are the gunnery skills.:P I know repetition and training is the key to all things but I am looking/asking for any advice on how you learned to dogfight. Pure mindless repetition? Did you practice with drones? Specific mission? MP servers? Campaign? Did you use labels at first or the F5 "cheat" view? Kind regards and thanks in advance on any tips and advice TL;DR - I am bad at dogfighting and training/repetition is not helping - Tips/advice on how to learn dogfighting Fred P.S. My setup:TM Hotas Warthog stick + throttle + MFG crosswind rudders+ Track IR and 21:9 ratio widescreen monitor. FPS 45-60 consistently.
