[Fw-190 D-9]Cockpit Mod with RLM66
DirtyFret replied to 5tuka's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Very nice looking. I can almost feel that plush soft leather. Thanks for tip. No hijacking intended but I dont think the Mi-8 cockpit has a separate ...glass-gauges.dds so I'm trying to do a faux effect. Keep it up:thumbup: -

Very nice looking. As a fellow cockpit texture modder , may I ask how did you accomplish that nice looking reflective glass effect on the gauges? Or is it a trade secret :D -
GAU-8/A and MK108 Shell tweaking/modding
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Working in 1.5.3. Split the MK-108 and GAU-8 tweaks to separate files. Tweaked the GAU-8 dispersion value a bit. Please let me know of any issues. -
MG151/20 Motorkannonen forthe Bf 109 K-4

Tested and working in 1.5.3. If you find any issues please let me know. -
At least during my campaign play the weather was drastically different in the 1st vs 2nd mission. I cant hazard a guess about the time of day.

Much appreciated and needed. Thanks.

Indeed, it is quite rare that someone posts a trk file without everyone having to ask for it specifically . Well done. In this case however a pic or vid would be more helpful in solving your issue

1.5.2 Huey cockpit appears to not use specular maps.
DirtyFret replied to Tim_Fragmagnet's topic in Bugs and Problems
At least in my experience the Mi-8 is having a similar issue. -
Hello I have stumbled on a slight issue with the Mi-8's cockpit textures specifically the specular mapping of it. I and am unable to get the specular maps to take effect in the cockpit. See this image I have used these instructions and whilst I can effectively modify spec maps of another module (F15C) so that they take effect I am unable to do this in the Mi-8. One helpful user has also tried this and confirmed this problem It would appear that the UH-1h cockpit has been reported with similiar issues Is this working as intended or am I missing something obvious in this matter? Kind regards

Cockpit retexturing Mi-8 (specular/norm)
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Thanks. Absolutely I'll share it. I justed started my on-call 24h shift so I wont be able to send it until tomorrow but there's no hurry I guess :pilotfly: -
Cockpit retexturing Mi-8 (specular/norm)
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Thank you gospad' for the reply. I tested your idea but unfortunately it did not work. I also tested this with the F-15C module and the spec map works fine there. I'll test a couple other modules and if I cant get it to work on the Mi-8 I might have to consider this as some sort of a possible bug. Does the M2000C cockpit mod you made use spec maps and if so , do they work properly? -

Politely bumping this. Anyone with any insight on the spec / norm map system with cockpit textures? -
Cockpit retexturing Mi-8 (specular/norm)
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Thank you UBoats for that list. That is golden. I must admit that I am confused. I am just learning the ropes so please bear with me but that list shows a line (line9) : . Is that not a material or are materials marked with capital letters only? But still just tested. I have the following lines in the description.lua I think if the spec map were working it would show up clearly on those test images as reflections, would it not? p.s. on the top left image (spec map) the little darker box on the top corner is the RADAR ALT box, just so that one can get a bearing where the reflections should be visible on the top right image -
Cockpit retexturing Mi-8 (specular/norm)
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Hey Joey, thanks for replying. The "Dashboards" is the 3DSMAX Material name which never changes , the "cockpit_mi-8mtv3_dash1" is the .dds file see here quote source Is this perhaps a module specific issue? The huey apparently has similar woes, -
The Specular Lighting Thread: For Skin Artists
DirtyFret replied to -Rudel-'s topic in Liveries/Skinning
Does the content of this thread also apply to cockpit textures? I have problems implementing specular maps in the Mi-8 cockpit. This is the issue -
Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me on sorting out how to add spec and norm textures to the Mi-8 cockpit. The diffuse DDS retexturing is pretty straightforward and I have no problems with that but I would like to add a bit of extra eye candy with spec and possibly norm maps. I have created several test specular DDS maps but seem to be unable to add them to cockpit. - I have tried spec maps in DXT1, DXT3 and DXT 5 format and with or without mipmaps. - I have added into the description.lua file the following As per this instruction the number "2" after the material name should indicate it for spec mapping. However I am unable to get the spec map working. Any help would be appreciated.

Fuel consumption / Mission preplanning
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Thanks guys. Thanks to your explanations and a couple days I finally understand this. To calculate mission range one calculates the non-nav fuel + emergency fuel and subtracts this from total amount of fuel onboard. This remainder is then multiplied by 0.95x0.95 to give the amount of fuel for Nav phase. From this and the tables provided one can calculate how long (hrs or km) they can fly. Alternatively if you know the total mission range (km) one can calculate the fuel consumption and multiply that with 1.05x1.05 and the add the non-nav + emergency fuel to get the final amount (what I have been doing) -
Excited to see progress on this one. Good luck lads. Hopefully you eventually get a 3rd party status. Have a good year:thumbup:

Fuel consumption / Mission preplanning
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Good discussion and good pointers. I must admit though that I am still confused with the manuals final statement"...this sum from the total fuel quantity on board. Multiply the remainder by 0.95 to add 5% navigational error factor and another 0.95 to add 5% for formation keeping."" If I calculate a estimated fuel consumption A what is this "total fuel quantity on board" (B) that I am subtracting the estimated fuel consumption amount from? Is B the total fuel capacity? Doesn't this vary with fuel pods etc.?:helpsmilie: And still I would find it more straightforward to just do Ax1.05x1.05 to find the amount of fuel to be filled into the tanks? I don't get the logic behind the (A-B)x0.95x0.95. What amount of fuel would I tell my (virtual) crew chief to load up?:noexpression: -
Fuel consumption / Mission preplanning
DirtyFret replied to DirtyFret's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Found the answer to this one. I must improve my search skills if I want to do search and rescue in Mi-8 :music_whistling: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2609227&postcount=2 The answers to the remaining questions still elude me. -
I have being trying to improve my skills in mission planning namely fuel cpnsumption calculations and estimation to optimize the weight that I can ferry. The draft manual provides good tables and numbers and I think I got the basics of it. Regarding this I have a few questions: - Does the warm up or run-up fuel consumption vary with airfield elevation? - Does the KO-50 heater use the same fuel and if so does it has to be estimated into mission planning? - In cruise calculations which is better/more accurate: kgf/km or kgf/h? I am slightly confused with the manuals instructions at the end about how to get the total amount. p.122 If I calculate the total amount required based on the consumption tables why do I have to subtract that amount from total amount. I probably don't understand this correctly and I would be gratefull of any clarification on this

Hello, and thanks for this magnificent(:D) heli and the continued efforts to repair the fans in the cockpit. I have a few questions: -What is the EEG for the TV3-117M's ? Is it the ERD-3VM(ЭРД-ЗВМ)? What would be the correct procedure to use in high altitude operations on take off? - ECL's Full up or Emegency power switch L/R on? The manual states that in case of single engine failure in flight the "Illumination of the ЧР. ЛЕВ. (ПРАВ.) ДВ. (EMER PWR LFT (RGT) ENG) light depending on the helicopter’s weight and altitude at the moment of failure." p.151 - Does this mean that the EEG(ЭРД-ЗВМ?) switches it on automatically or does the FE do it automatically? - The (draft) manual doesn't state that in single engine flight the operative engines ECL should be lifted to the up position. Should it be lifted or only in case were rotor RPM drops? Any additional discussion or clarification pertaining to the engine, throttle and rotor RPM management is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello This is a good question. I haven't found an answer to this. Maybe a third kind of expendable? I thought that it is called CMSP and the CMSC panel is on the front console below the HUD. Or does the OTR1 also show up on that too?:book:
