I agree with you 100%, but imagine what that would cost? If we Shall keep prices low for the community, Then you need to be realistic. That means that pieces placed where you cant see Them closeup dont nessesary have to shine. Yes i can print Them at higher quality or paint Them, but Then it takes longer, and cost the buyer more money. I could also vapor treat Them, but Then you end up with a glossy object that dosnt fit the design. The pictures you see here are taken really Close, that Way you Will obviously see more details than normal, we have done that so people see what they get, we wont hide anything. But when you see the items from normal range you cant see the difrence. With this Said, of Course people can make another finish to those objects if they want, but as they are placed on this panels, the visible top finish are smooth, the sides are a little rough, but again, not visible. When we make the rotary switches they of Course need some kind og surface treatmen , since they are bigger objects, and more detailed I could easy make these things better.... But i doubt people would pay for it. I could be wrong, but allready now can i say that this panel Will be one of the most expensive we Will offer, and that is because of All the 3D objects, which people can choose to buy the panel without.

Further i would like to show some Pictures of how the Lights are assembled with the room for an LED. And also from the Head. And Together. Dont mind the White stuff on the buttom there, thats just some glue residue from the 3D Printer Table. I also have these 2 of the gauge Rings. The gaugerings can be printed longer, so it goes all the way to the Screen.
-
My Friend with the awesome camera isnt here right now, so i took some Pictures with my own. They are not quite as good as my friends, but i think you live :) Here some Pictures of the Painted Panel. And also a Little addon to the Armament Panel
-
Accually its not All finished.... didnt have time to paint the gauge rings. Green, Yellow and Red. But it will be there on the Next Pictures :)
-
You are right, the light housing is just decoration for use with Helios. But it would be stupid if we made the lights not working, if there is people who wanna make their own Gauges to fit behind. We have been talking about making real gauges sometime, but we have too much going on at the moment, so its not something we wanna do now.
-
As mentioned we where close to show you our Gauge Panel prototype. So here it is, im sorry if the Pictures are a Little wierd, but it was taking in a hurry, Better Pictures will follow soon. The panel is accually finished, and the small Lights are fully capable of lighting the gauge area up with a small 1,8mm green LED, which Means, that every light are hollow in the top, and the base, so its very easy to install LED's The panel is for use in front of LCD screen running Helios, and the individual Gauge Ring, can be made longer so that it reaches all the way Down to the Screen, to ease Installation. Let me know what you Guys think.
-
Thats totally fine. Im accually making an effort making every single panel as close to the real deal as possible. That Means that every screw, hole and mark is carefully placed in the design. I really hope that people will notice my attention to detail, i know there isnt much on this one panel, but it will be a thing, Fx. when we announce the Gauge Panel, which is not too far away.
-
The way we have designed the Panel is accually so that the light is reflecting inside the panel, in such a way that all text is lighted nice and even. At the moment there are some light escaping underneath the panel, in the installation area, but not at the front, i dont know how important that is but that can also be eliminated if its an issue. We will keep tweeking the setup until it looks just right, and we will do that to each panel type, to ensure the outcome. We will keep you posted, and with Pictures soon too :)

I know exactly how you feel, and thank you, our goal is to offer the community Great quality Pit Hardware at reasonable prices. That sounds very interesting indeed, we are a few playing, so that would be really fun. Sounds good, we wont release anything before we are totally sure, that the backlighting looks as it should, but when it does, we will have panels for purchase like you suggest, with PCB's that people can assemble themselves. Partlist is also one of our ideas, the less we have to do with each panel, the cheaper the price :) But we might supply the LED's and the Resistors for the PCB we design, simply because then we can assure that all panels look the same, and are able to connect to the Light Panel when we get that made. Would be a shame if people use too bright LED's, and end up with a panel with too many Hotspots, when we make the Light Panel, the Whole cockpit will be dimmer controlled, as the real thing. And that Means we also intend to make replicas of the Flood Lights, and working lights for Gauges for those who are interested.
-
Well the holes on the original Armament panel are accually bigger than the rest of the cockpit, why, dont ask, but they are, and the switches are mounted in the backplate. Take a look at this: So yes, right now without the backplate, and the switches it may look odd, but it will all look right when its all mounted. And to answer your request SafetyTurtle, i can only say that that is exactly what we would like to do, if there is any interest. Offer panels in difrent "stages" og finished, so people can decide how much they wanna spent, and how much they want to make themself. And Again, as we are making fully cockpits for ourselves... we will come around all the panels at some point.
-
Now a Little Update. We now have the first Panel Prototype to show, tho the top text is a bit off, and the Smaller text needs to be a Little big bigger. The panel is made in one piece of acrylic, with carvings for the switches on the backside, and rounded edges on the front. Now we are working on the PCB for the panel backlight, and we hope to show you Pictures of a backlit version very soon. And of course it needs a black painted aluminum backplate too.
-
First Prototype just taken out of the printer. No logo yet, that will come in the next version. Size is 130mm wide and 130mm long, 15mm hight at lowest point, and 30mm high on highest point. The final version will off course be printet in Gray Metal Plastic, and then with the possibility of being painted further. Let me know what you Guys think.
-
Well... i have used the known dimension from the cockpit Width and the Width og the pedestal. From that plus some room to move i have worked out that its around 130mm wide and high... maybe a Little higher. The depth, i cant say for sure, that is a estimate... but if you can help me with more exact dimension of that, it would be great. I have made the first 3D drawing, its not totally finished, since i need the logo, but you can see it here.
-
I am working out the design from alot of Pictures, measuring the distances compared to what dimensions i know. Im aware that it wont be 100% accurate dimensions.... but it will be close, maybe 95%. I have been searching alot for dimensions or anything about them, but havent got luck with anything.
-
I dont know if this could be of interest to you, but Im in the designer face of making some 3D printet A-10C Replica Rudder Pedal plates. Intended for mounting on my fiends existing rudder pedals, and for the custom made A-10 Replica Pedals, im making for myself. But if you are interested, let me know and ill post some Pictures when i get them going.
-
No it is abit scary to take a part that expensive apart, when there is still guarantee on it. :P
-
Ah yea that might not be able to do the trick if they get extended..... Altså im afraid that it will become more "wobbely" than it allready is. maybe some new guide rails can prevent that. LynxDK
-
i am thinking about it, since im selling switch tops that when placed under the throttle levers, they cant be used. But i havent been looking into it yet, so i cant tell you anything else than at some point i will try it. Best Regards LynxDK
-
Yea, narrower custom panels on the pedestal might end up looking wierd. Maybe its possible to place a plate on each pedal, so it becomes widder that way. You know, a kinda universal plate, that looks like the original A-10 pedals. LynxDK
-
Ah yea, the Width of the pedals might be a problem there. Custom made panels maybe? LynxDK
-
Maybe instead of having that wallplate in the front of the cockpit, you can leave it open i, that way you can push the pedals right in from there. At least thats what we intend to do. as you can see on our very first Construction. www.lynx.dk/pictures/forum/01.jpg Best Regards LynxDK
-
Your right about that, and that is somewhat what we intend to do. Alltho i think too many options may not be that good, but provide a solution for those who wanna make something themselves to keep Price low, and Again for those who want a finished Plug & Play Product. That is what we will try, and for those who intend to buy a complete cockpit, they can order backlit panels, to ensure that the color and intensity of the LED's are kept the same. So we are thinking of 3 solutions: 1. Panels, ready for backlighting, but not installed. 2. Panels with installed Backlighting 3. Panels with installed Switches, Interfacing and backlighting. That way there will be something for everyone, what do you think about this? Best Regards LynxDK

JK01: Switch Tops Hand turned aluminum switch tops, made so they can easily be glued on top of normal on/off and on/off/on switches. Made with 6mm holes for normal switches. These are replicas of the Honeywell 11TW1. Note that since they are hand turned, there can be tiny variations in the shape of the head. When mounted its not noticable, but it can be when you have them lying side by side. However, if you order fx. 10, i will sort them so you get 10 pcs. who all look alike. You can buy them from my webshop, here: http://lynx.dk/product/honeywell-11tw1-switch-top-replica/ INFO On Number Of JK01 Switches For Specific Planes: A-10C: 14 Pcs. F-16 Block 52: 15 Pcs.
