Sometimes up to 28nm. Is this normal? Does he just read his RWR, or does he actually "spot" them?
-
With the 1.5 Beta release around the corner, can anything be said about system requirements? Particularly the requirements for 1440p?

Wrong approach ImHO. I'd rather have the devs continue their line of popular and we'll known aircraft instead of going for less known ones. That way DCS would attract more attention and potentially gain more followers, which means more money for the devs to create more airframes. In any case it's complaining on a high level. I'm excited about any plane they give us and would gladly hop into a Viggen or any other aircraft. DCS has come a very long way already and the next 5 years will turn this platform into a truly marvelous experience, no matter which airframes we'll have.
-
All you guys are excited for the Viggen, yet here I sit and would want nothing more than the F16. I know this always comes up every 6 months or so, but why oh why hasn't any developer tried his hands at THE fighter of the 20th century. If someone would announce a kickstarter for it, I'd literally donate all I could spare. I'm dead serious. But please do carry on with Viggen talk. I for one find it nice but those canards tend to make it look like a fancy paper airplane. No offense.

I disintegrated my gear the first three times but actually managed to get a hang of it quite well. All you got to do is pay attention to your AoA and your altimeter. What helped me too was the the beeping sound, notifying me of the the runway threshold. Only then do I extend flaps fully. She gets quite the upward boost from that. Of course, practice makes perfect, but once you get the hang of it, you wonder why you had such a hard time. Also, Rsbn approach helps too. I always try to start at 1000m asl 14km from the runway. As for the engine. Just keep its limits in mind. No negative Gs for long, no zero Gs. The only real pain in the ass are bombing runs. I either miss, hit the ground minding my G limit, or lose my payload after exceeding the latter.

Restart engine in flight tutorials? I have to add that yesterday my engine quit on me and I couldn't restart it, even after going into idle and engaging in-air-restart repeatedly. I still had heaps of fuel left, too.

I can't maintain a lock until the missile is in range without the contact disappearing or my rwr going Las Vegas on me. It boggles my mind how some manage to have a decent k/d ratio with the fishbed.
-
(Not that I'm too concerned, I've yet to successfully down an enemy without being shot at first)
-
I noticed how some servers only allow IR missiles for the fishbed. Why is this?
-
*sigh* the 120C really kills the fun. I get shot down by them 100% of the time. Also, spotting contacts without radar is next to impossible. Not only do they have to be within 2miles, but the fishbed canopy has this aweful used look with dozens of scratches and stains. I'll just keep trying. Thank you all for your replies and again, I 'd be happy to team up with someone.

Hello, After several unsuccessful attempts to stay alive on the 104th, I've come to the conclusion that the only way to have positive experiences with the fishbed is in a team. Otherwise I wander around, snaking through valleys, painting friendlies and getting asskicked by aim120s. I live in Hannover, Germany and would love to team up with someone a bit more experienced. Cheers!

Before I go on with my post, here a few facts: I'm a passionate WWII sim pilot and racked up a lot of flight hours with cliffs of Dover. I stayed away from DCS mainly because missiles, radars, RWR and all that fancy electronic stuff IMHO kill the 'sport' of aerial combat(the sport of competing and dogfighting online if you will, albeit it's realism and portrayal of mordern air combat). Still, a couple of months ago I indulged on an impulse to buy the MiG21 module, flew free flight and training for a bit but let it sit idly on my hard drive ever since. Just a week ago I decided to fire it up again and get to know this russian dart and the learning process alone has been a blast. Especially it's A2A aspect with the rather simplistic radar and it's steampunk style display has got me hooked. Anyways... After analyzing every post and video in this thread I came to the following conclusions: Stick to the deck, hug the terrain, know your RWR and interpret it correctly, know the land and it's mountains and valleys, chicken out when in doubt on full afterburner with emergency AB, be patient, get 'spamraamed' a lot(love that term, it complies with my theory of the above mentioned 'sport') and don't quit, flank the main area of engagement, occasionally make use of the manual ARU in tight turns, mind the limited use of radar, mind the fuel gauge, mind the the G-Meter, did I miss anything?

I just hope they will revise the mapping system so I'll be able to map my warthog throttle switches more effectively. It's a shame I need to map two switches for gear up and down. Also the damage model wherein the pylons remain after getting your wing blown off.

alt+c not working and ingame menu not clickable either.

I solved it. The last time I flew DCS I had the resolution at 4K, to test a monitor with that nat. res. Now I have WQHD again, but the game somehow still remained at 4K, ingame. changing the resolution to my current native fixed the problem. -

Pardon my ill choice of words. Let me try to explain once more. First problem: I cannot interact with the ingame menu. I am talking about the little window that pops up when you hit the escape button. This has nothing to do with alt+c, since alt+c just switches from mouse view, where you turn your FOV by moving the mouse, to being able to actually click on buttons and switches in the cockpit INGAME, which brings us to my.. ..second problem: i cannot click on any buttons or switches in the cockpit either. It's as if my left mouse button is unassigned or something. Those two problems are likely to be connected. sorry I might have confused you guys earlier. In short, as soon as I load a mission, say Instant action for the A10c, left mouse button commands are unresponsive. -

I am trying to click on the ingame menu(the little box that gives you options like quit game, options, etc.), but it doesnt work. I have to exit the game via task manager. Alt+C is my command to use my mouse for clicking controls in the cockpit, but it doesnt work either. the cursor just turns into the yellow cross, yet nothing is clickable. The main menu of the game, however, does not have this issue. -

I fired up DCS for the first time in 2 months and discovered the problem mentioned in the title. Any way to fix this? -
DCS World launcher just pops up and disappears. Reinstall won't help.

here#s a new log I just created by deleting the saved games folder and letting it be rewritten. me.txt -
I bought the Mig21Bis module for 45$ yesterday and reinstalled DCS World after half a year again. It forced me to make a major update worth of 8GB of data only to do nothing after I click on the launch icon. I reinstalled it just now but to no avail. Multiplayer launches fine with a stoneage resolution yet fails to connect to a master server. Logs.rar autoupdate_log.txt
