  1. how come? isn't it just a visual enhancement? Why can I use it in a single mission or online, but not in a campaign?
  2. I'm getting this error message, albeit already haven flown 2 missions. What can I do? edit: sweetfx seems to be causing this problem. Is there a solution besides removing sweetfx? I very much would like to use it.
  3. Even harmless comparisons? I play other flight sims out there and enjoy them all equally. I'm sure the majority here does. As long as the arguments are constructive and on point, I'm sure it would be a positive contribution to the topic. The modders of Team Fusion (Cliffs of Dover) for instance, introduced a canopy glare/reflection that can be spotted at certain angles and from afar. The actual visual effect is quite simple [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gZOOXFil3c[/ame] The impact on gameplay though is very positive and immersive. Something ED might want to take a look at ad consider :) edit: I really intend no confrontation. Just like help contribute to DCSs improvements.
  4. I'm running at 1440p native on a 27" and I have similar issues wherein a bogey just disappears at certain angles. For that to happen they don't necessarily need to be far away. High yoyoing fighters occasionally disappear from the screen in my case. On the other hand, a fighter in the distance with clouds in the background might not be seen on it's own, but a white halo around him that essentially makes it look like a white spec is travelling across the cloud is always a dead giveaway. Under clear sky conditions, I would not have seen him. Good for me, bad for him. Most likely this has something to do with my graphics setup or some sort of lighting shader that gets interrupted by that distant fighter perhaps. It is most recognizable when the sun is low, dusk or dawn, and the clouds are of a darker hue. BTW, despite the fact that EDGE is one of the most gorgeous sim engines out there, it's one of the worst for spotting. The scaling that was introduced solves some issues, but introduced new ones. Also, the cockpit scratches and dirt smears are annoying beyond measure. Even if one would take realism into account, real pilots focused on the distance, rendering any sort if dirt or scratch unobservable for the eye, unless of course they focused their eyes on it. Just take a look at your window, focus on the rain dirt or something, then focus on something across the street. You'D be surprised how unphazed your eyes are by whats on the window. I hope ED keeps up their constant betterment of this sim and tends to these issues soon.
  5. From the manual I was basically telling the airplane that there is normal fuel in the aux tank, thereby feeding 100% MW mixture into the fuel lines. It all makes sense now. I was under the impression that the fuel selector would alternate between normal fuel and MW enriched, and that the boost switch under on the front panel would activate the injection of said fuel. Rediculous if I think about it. I am an imbecile :D
  6. I might have found the culprit. I switched the MW50 tank selector to 'Kraftstoff', as I thought that the up position would select the MW50 the methanol/water additive and is only actually needed if you activate the boost. I am confused. In the down position my engine just looses power in a matter of minutes, and in the in the up position (the MW50 position), I fly all day. Obviously this is not a bug and I need to dig into the manual. Apologies for having wasted your time.
  7. I tried both. Governer in auto and manual. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  8. I can imagine I forgot it on the first flight and some lua setting was changed to: screw his engine after time x, even though I already spawned in a different plane and later on loaded a sp mission. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  9. Seriously, double checked everything, save for the very first flight in which it occurred. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  10. Actually, IMHO, the flight model that the AI uses is much more of a problem than its logic to go high and what not. Going vertical in a 109, I can barely keep up with the mustang in front of me, let alone pull such a tight high yoyo after he basically just lost all his e. It is obscene and wildly differs from online performances, IMHO. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  11. Hey guys, I had this issue online, wherein I stat the engine normally, takeoff, climb shallow for a couple of minutes, maybe 4 or 5 and all of a sudden the Engine throttles to 1.0 ata and the prop is windmilling, gradually adjusting to 1230 pitch as I slow down. My temps where within range, my ata was at 1.35 and my revs below 2500. I tried again, this time going even easier on the engine. Still, same fault. I then waited to warm up the engine before taxiing to the runway and throttling up beyond 2000rpm. Again, the engine died unspectacularly within minutes. I tried in SP to see if it was online related but I got the same behavior. I finally gave up and quit the game. I little while later I restarted DCS and gave it another try. Started up the engine, taxied and took off as usual. This time, no fault. The engine ran and ran and ran. Really pushed it on a second try, no warm up, just straight take off after ignition, still, she purred like a Katze. My question: is this a bug? Similar to the the bug wherein a locked up target would set up the radar a certain way in the mirage and you would have to unlock it, even after restarting the mission? They fixed that too, but that's the only other bug where certain states of the plane were carried onto the next spawn or mission load, if you will. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  12. sorry to revive this. Is this working for 1.5.3? [edit]:It is. I asked before I checked the link.
  13. another logfile. It seems it needs to crash once before working properly. I attached the mission file as well. Logs.rar Warbird A-G A-A practice by Vodka.miz
  14. Yep, learned that the hard way. I realized that I was in a bad situation when it was already too late. The engine didn't lock outright, but after throttling back, the engine slowly died and the prop windmilled.
  15. And what is a good rule of thumb for 'good' cooling? 200 IAS and above? Just asking because the 2700/46 setting is rather underpowered against fast German airframes. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  16. Thank you for the nice answer! Do you mean 5th sortie in one session or IRL? And yes, I was in a high speed looping chase with the Dora, lag pursuiting to pick up more speed on my way down, hence more cooling. Unbeknownst to me that was probably what kept the engine from quiting. Since then I always go pack a bit on the rpm lever in the steep climb. Does that actually make a difference? 17. Just wanted to test a mission I built. I created a server with the mission, loaded it, chose a side, clicked on 'fly' and the game crashed. I attached the log files. Logs.rar
  18. Just hopped into the Mustang after the latest patch, dogfight vs. Dora. Just to test its limits I punched the throttle and rpm lever all the way up, to see how long the engine goes. To my surprise it never blew. I mostly kept above 100kt at the peak of energy fighting, cooling slightly as I came back down. But temp needle was beyond red constantly, after 5 minutes of dogfighting. I expected the engine to lock up or something, but it kept going. Is this a bug? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  19. Oh well, i can live without a g-Meter. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  20. So taking Throttle and stick control from the back, in MP, is still not implemented?
  21. Is it somewhere described how to swap controls in the L39?
  22. This has probably been asked before, but is ED still striving to fully implement two seater functionality? Hawk, C101, L39, F14, etc... If so, what is the status on this? Especially for trainers I'm eager to see something more than mere ride along :)
  23. problem solved. It was Malware related. I did a complete scan of the system and picked up several bad adware and spyware programs. Apparently, other updaters were afflicted as well, including my AV.
  24. Ping is fine. [edit]: Just to rule out the fact that it might be caused by a recently acquired copy of the Dora via a private sale, I unistalled the Mig15( I could have chosen any other module) and tried reinstallling it. Whats interesting is the fact that after uninstalling the Mig15, I had to manually start DCS again. As if it quietly crashed after removing the module. Trying to reinstall it I get the same error. I also tried logging on and off again ingame, still, I can't install modules.
  25. checked. Firewall is not blocking it.
