  1. I think you’ve missed the point. No one mentioned ‘neutral merge dogfight’. There is more to aerial combat than dogfighting. Of course, there are various ways to reduce the impact of inferior machines - flying with a wingman, staying fast, keeping superior altitude, using cloud and terrain, etc, etc. But Allies can also use these strategies. Ultimately, with pilots of equal skill, the outcome of combat is largely determined by a/c capability. Nor did I suggest that it should be easier. I’m pointing out that a principle feature of your server and the main difference compared to other servers is that in 4YA PO Axis aircraft have restricted performance which makes them inferior compared to Allies. But, in all the blurb describing how it’s historically accurate, this doesn’t get any mention. While having different strengths and weaknesses, the Spitfire, P51 and 109K as modelled by DCS are relatively well balanced. So a newcomer to 4YA would reasonably assume that this will be the case on the PO server. Given that there is no other PvP game where one side has a significant and permanent advantage, again, users wouldn’t expect it in this one. You are clearly committed to running a server where respective aircraft performance Axis vs Allies is something similar to that of 1944 Normandy. It’s your server, you and others do the work to keep it running so clearly you must decide how it works. So if this is such an important and attractive feature, why not say it up-front. You’re right about it being the user choice as to which server they use. I’m suggesting it would be helpful if you described your server more transparently so they can choose knowing the full story before investing in it. It would also mean that the MW50 would stop being the recurring issue it is amongst established players (I’ve seen the various heated exchanges on Discord) because everyone will know what the set up is. i wonder why you can’t do this?
  2. New to 4YA PO thinking of flying Axis? Then there’s something you should know that isn’t always obvious to newbies. The main claim of 4YA PO is that it’s ‘historically accurate’. This means, amongst other things, that the territory occupied by the opposing forces is faithful to historical events as are the location of fighting units. But this also means that the Axis aircraft are set up to be significantly out classed by Allied airframes. And it’s true that the 109G, in use in the summer of 1944 by the Luftwaffe, was very much inferior to the P51 and Spitfire marks it flew against. DCS haven’t modelled a 109G yet so 4YA use the 109K and disable the MW50 injection system provided in the module. With MW50 working, the 109K is a match for its principle opponents when playing to its strengths - speed to ‘boom and zoom’ and to escape a non-winnable turning fight. Without MW50 and the extra power this produces, these tactics are much less effective meaning the odds are always against you when up against the Spitfire and P51 (See attached performance chart). Similarly, the 190A and 190D have also had MW50 disabled. A limited number of MW50 enabled 109s are available in some of the games but these are placed well away from where the action usually takes place. So if you want to fly a 109 that can compete on something like even terms with Allies best, this involves flying up to 40 minutes just to reach the common combat areas. So you’d think this disadvantage for Axis flyers would be reflected in the score statistics for the game, right? Wrong. Even though it’s obviously much harder for Axis pilots to win against Allies in combat, kills are counted evenly. In fact, some Allied pitots even deny that there is an imbalance in performance. This is mad given that this is the main difference between 4YA PO and other servers and one which the creators are apparently very proud of. To make things worse, probably because of this performance disadvantage, there are usually fewer pilots flying Axis in the game. This means, as well as being out-performed, flying Axis means you’ll also mostly be outnumbered. Why don’t 4YA mention the performance imbalance on their website and other material? Your guess is as good as mine. But, as it is, many pilots (me for one) don’t catch on to all this until after they’ve already spent time, money and effort and have committed to flying Axis. If pilots knew this up-front many would, I’m sure, still choose to fly Axis. But, knowing what they were getting into from the start would mean they are less likely to complain or just abandon the server, as many currently do, once the real scale of the imbalance becomes apparent. Alternatively, you can stick to flying Allied and enjoy the benefit of superior performance. Either way, now you know.
  3. Almost a year on since this post was started are we any nearer to getting the G6? As I fly mostly multiplayer, I can’t say I’m thrilled at the prospect of owning and flying a machine that is basically outclassed in most respects by its Allied contemporaries as produced by DCS. I get that, for historical accuracy purists, it makes sense to have a set of a/c that is nearer those that fought in 1944. But, in terms of entertainment, it gets pretty dull and pointless when any combat encounter is inevitably uphill. We already have a server where most K4s are partially disabled to try to mimic the G6. The main drawback of this setup is that it’s not clear to new players (or even many established ones) that ‘historical accuracy’ is code for significant performance disadvantage when flying Axis. The principle fighter set as produced by DCS - Spitfire, P51 and 109 - are pretty well balanced albeit with different strengths and weaknesses. I, like many I’m sure, assumed this would be a feature of WW2 servers. It becomes frustrating and disappointing when it eventually becomes apparent that your airframe is basically outclassed and that, despite this being the defining feature of the server, it is never been made explicit. So, introduction of an actual G6 would be really helpful. It would give the historical purists the plane set nearer those actually used and everyone will be clear that flying a G6 means your’e at a performance disadvantage. If that floats your boat, great, otherwise you will be able to make the choice at the outset to invest time, money and effort elsewhere. G6? Yep, bring it on!
  4. Thanks for this….. Fixed it for me too. 40fps absolute max up to 70/75fps in two clicks. Cheers!
  5. Yep, reset worked. Thanks. Don’t know why I didn’t try that before!
  6. This looks useful and the screenshot is really helpful. I’ll try the reset and see what happens. Thanks
  7. Hi, thanks for this and appreciate your response. Yes, I saw the post and there is some similarity as XRNS loads ok and seems to work to a degree but has this weird 'head sideways' thing. With my set up though (standalone rather than Steam) I'm sitting at my PC to calibrate the headset, load DCS and other add ons and then play the game so there's no change in position. Any other ideas?
  8. I've been using XRNS without issues for a while but, since 2.9 when I turn to look back my head moves sideways (opposite to the way I'm turning my head) so that I'm looking backward but at the back of my seat. initially this was just odd occasions, now it happens every startup. I've tried DCS file repair, starting XRNS before and after starting DCS, deleted and reinstalled XRNS and checked that everything is updated. I'm using quest Pro with standalone DCS MT. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Yep, re-registering sorted it. It’s working! Thanks Andre.
  10. it was registered and working for a while and don’t understand why/how it would unregistered itself. It’s showing unregistered now probably because I’ve uninstalled (using Bulk crap uninstalled as recommended) and installed several times. I’ll register again and see if this resolves the issue.
  11. Hi A, I’ve got two Dayton Audio Units. I’ve just enabled logging in Sound Module and it says ‘audio sample….. not found’ multiple times (see atached). I’ve check unlimited ammo/fuel is turned off. Looking in the Aviators folder the .UWV files seem to be there. Alex
  12. No engine beat in DCS. I’ve been running this for a while with 109 in DCS but in last few days the engine beat and one or two other ‘events’ aren’t working even when turned up in Aviator settings. I’m getting some effects, like runway rumble and crash impacts. The test works fine in Sound and Aviator settings panels and engine beat and other missing effects appear (sent/play) in the ‘event’ log but nothing is being transmitted to the pads. The issue is the same with DCs MT and open beta versions and was working perfectly with both until recently. I’ve already tried uninstall/install of sound and Aviator modules x 2, repair DCS, checked cables and Aviator output settings. Still not working. Any suggestions?
  13. With the implementation of MT, many more players will be able to up their settings and experience the detailed, realistic, shimmer-free graphics this game is capable of. I know I was and, for a while, I flew in VR with unbelievably immersive cockpits and landscapes. But then I had to turn everything down again to a fuzzy, pixelated mess because, at the higher resolution, I simply had no chance of spotting other aircraft. So much of the work done on the game, including MT, will have limited benefit as long as players have to choose between better graphics or competitive spotting. Please fix this. 14/04/2024 - Guess what? It’s fixed. The spotting as currently implemented works for me in VR at hi-res. Thanks
  14. I've got a set up with a decent quality audio amp and two woofers that came with it (2x 50w 5 ohm) converted to transducers. Work's a treat except with piston engined aircraft were there is a failry loud buzzing when engine rev's are applied. If I turn off engine effects in the simshaker for aviators settings the buzzing imeadiatly stops but, even at afairly low 'volume' setting (on the amp or in the SSA setting) the buzzing starts. Nothing else running through the transducers (music, in game audio etc) makes this happen - just engines through SSA. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas about how to stop it? Advice would be appreciated. Tried further fixes but still doing it - it’s actually more like a rattle than a hum. Obviously checked there’s nothing lose or shaking on the transducer or close by.
  15. I’m trying to join a Normandy based MP server but the server list shows only 3 or 4 when, at the same time, friends can see 20 or more. This was working fine till a couple of days ago. Im on Ethernet cable and no internet sped issues. I’ve tried flushing the dns, updating software several times 92.7 beta), resetting router, turning off auto log in, validated files x 3, etc. still not seeing available servers. help.
  16. Excellent tool but.... This is a really helpful peice of software and I've got it working well in DCS and did have it running in War Thundr and COD. But, for some reason, after a clean windows reinstall it no longer works in WT and COD. The control movements are seen on the virtual panel and the key inputs appear in the log but they don't seem to register in the games. Please advise. W
