  1. The fuel switches for the Mossie are located behind the pilot and navigator seats, I find it easier to just switch to the navigator seat, look behind me and move the fuel cocks from there. I can't remember if this mission has Wing tanks or not, but you can switch between main and auxillary tanks via that action. Also enroute use fuel conservation methods; stay trimmed, use lower RPM when cruising/at altitude and keep boost to a reasonable level such as +7 or +8. This allowed fuel conservation on the ingress (and egress) which in turn gave me fuel reserves in case I need power rapidly For this particular mission I just stayed up high because 1) I spent the energy to get up there as part of the mission parameters and 2)for speed I could trade off that altitude energy for speed. The Mossie gains speed very quickly once you get her nose down.
  2. G'day Mate, loving the campaign, very enjoyable. Nah I don't get that message at all from Ginger, bombs drop and nothing, but good to know that I'm not getting it, I thought I was missing something given in the rest of the campaign you always get that sort of response. I might run a DCS repair and see if something has messed up in the install usual DCS update shenanigans. I will report back if it helps. I know DCS can sometimes muck up profiles as well for your pilot so I might do a repair then create a new profile and see if it works any differently. Oh the collisions are definitely DCS AI in it's glory lol, I just mentioned it in case it's relevant. EDIT: I did a repair of my DCS build, Friendly AI don't cause any damage to their respective targets it seems. I released my bombs hit my flak position and no Ginger message. I'm guessing this is DCS AI behaviour conflicting, which is kind of difficult to fix when it can change from patch to patch.
  3. G'day everyone, I'm terrible at bombing with the Mosquito, (so perhaps therein lies my answer), but I am unable to hit "victory" triggers for this particular mission. To be fair I have to go back with guns and cannons and clean up my designated Flak site, but even with a clean sweep of my site - everything destroyed (Particularly all Flak marked by the flare location) I can't seem to get a Mission score (though I get the unit kill score). So I'm not sure if it's because I am not achieving that with the bombs, or it it also includes the other target sites (which Wingmen barely seem to damage even with direct hits), or there is some other trigger I am not hitting. Any advice/tips appreciated. Also on this mission a nearby flight of A-20's manage to always collide with each other as I head towards the coast from Manston - Aerial 2-2 and Aerial 3-3. This seems to happen with or without time skipping (I've flown this mission around 15 times now lol)
  4. Minor Typo; Mission: Siege of Dunkirk also has a misspelling of "Siege" and there seems to be an extra space after of and Dunkirk so reads as Seige of Dunkirk. Doesn't impact gameplay or enjoyment in anyway, just mentioning it if you are going to sweep for other typos.
  5. Yeah I just set the altimeter to the airfield elevation where I am based out of at that stage 160 for Manners for example. The campaign is generally relaxed in the matter of handing things extraneous to "the action" as it were, not a bad thing at all, especially for more casual players. I do find myself setting things though which I don't need to really set in this campaign. I also often forget that navigator will manipulate some things for you such as bomb settings - somehow despite the mission directly telling you the navigator will set the bombs and open the doors, I tend to automatically do it myself (and then the trigger for the navigator activating the bombs and doors reverses my actions, I've done it like 5 times now lol >_< )
  6. G'day all, is anyone having issues with this campaign mission, specifically the inability to operate any controls (other than the flight stick) while in the pilots seat? I am unable to close/open the sliding window, use the throttle or activate switches over on the pilots side. I can start the engine from the navigators seat but it will start the engine at full throttle and it cannot be altered with joystick/throttle or keyboard inputs. I can wait for the briefing to complete and then try to start up and the same issue occurs Not sure if I am dealing with a peripheral device issue here or if somehow the pilot is accidentally locked off in this mission by a trigger. The follow up mission - Box Car responds normally. Edit: Oops thought i was in the bug subheading channel Edit 2: The Box Car campaign is the proceeding mission and is a repeat of the mission prior to this, not sure if this is also a bug or intended consequence if you skip a mission.
  7. Yeah I would love to see it be used as well, it would add to the authenticity (and help me justify DCS costs to myself lol). The WW2 pack is a sore spot for some though and it is frustrating that it isn't default to DCS WW2 maps. The Mossie seems like abandonware at times with unfinished content and features (including pilot and navigator bodies as Madlou1 said) but campaigns like this always show what it is capable of and what I enjoy it for.
  8. Oh a new campaign! A WW2 campaign?! It's for the Mossie?!?!!! *Hits buy button* And what a great campaign it has been thus far! The Mossie is always a joy to fly (and a mongrel on the ground lol) but there is always something special about throwing it over the wavetops morning, noon or night, penetrating defences and making a nuisance of myself over occupied Europe to get the mission done. Some things that come to mind that have made the campaign enjoyable and just as importantly, accessible; 1. It doesn't require the WW2 pack. I love the WW2 pack, but it's and extra hurdle for the DCS WW2 fan. WW2 content already seems heavily gated in comparison to the modern aspects of DCS. 2. The initial practice missions are great for getting back up to speed with weapons deployment and general handling of the aircraft in attack - this is always good for those new to the Mossie or getting back into it after some time away. Making aspects of these missions skippable for those who remain proficient is a good choice for the player. 3. The missions seem graduated in complexity - at least early on things start out "easy" - recon missions with no weapons to deploy for example and then it introduces missions with more tasks to engage with. Good for players new to the Mossie, perhaps a little tedious to veteran Mossie pilots/WW2 campaigners. 4. Your co-pilot is great. The big drawback of the Mossie is it takes two people to operate it fully, playing solo is fun but has that missing aspect and it can be very difficult to find a navigator (let alone another pilot), ED have yet to produce a co-pilot and seem unlikely to do so. So the addition of a navigator in this campaign really helps sell the teamwork aspect and of coarse makes it more enjoyable. You interact, he gives feedback, performs various tasks for you so you can focus on the flying. Like Reflecteds V for Victory it really sells the Mossie and it's role. 5. The voicework is likewise enjoyable. I'm Australian so the accent is easy to understand, not sure if non-native speakers will find it more difficult. Overall great job, no real complaints to make.
  9. More Heatblur F-14 is always great to see. The F-14B(U) is a surprise to hear about, but something I look very much forward to - Just as I wait and long for the F-14 A early and IRAIF version to make an appearance. Am I concerned they are announcing a new product while we still wait for products that have been promised? No, I'm not particularly concerned. Heatblur keeping their business afloat is in our best interest as Tomcat enthusiasts and to be honest as they develop more and hone their skills they can translate the new to other things in progress (like the early F-14A) which will hopefully result in a better product. Our current Tomcat's are a joy to fly off of the carrier.
  10. I believe the Syria map recently had some terrain/item placement updates which has had this kick on effect. For example Baltic Dragons Gamblers campaign has the very same issues with the Syria map. Not sure if the campaigns require updates or it is something on ED's end.
  11. I am unable to find the Frog 7 mini campaign in the game, I have updated, have Syria installed and Combined Arms. I will give my install a repair and see if that rectifies the situation. Edit: Update appears to have failed to apply. Seems to install and then remove itself, I will look into it. Edit 2: After having to essentially remove everything but the base DCS install the patch finally applied after a painfully long install time, for no apparent reason. Frog-7 present and looks great!
  12. For what it's worth, I enjoy Jester as is, I appreciate the more human touch he has and the fact he is imperfect. It gives the player more feedback with his commentary, even if it's not always right and Jester does a fine job in combat with what you give him. Give him a bad angle? be positioned poorly? don't be surprised that he can't lock up a target or has some trouble tracking - those things aren't singularly Jesters fault. The OP, 450 there has listed what they like/dislike and it's all reasonable constructive feedback. Heatblur have commented with a plan that appears to be suitable solution for all concerns - more comm brevity and the option of a more AI ("professional") like callout system. I would also add that managing cockpit radio volumes is something that is done IRL as well to allow you clarity for specific information when you have multiple sources of communication. It can be a real chore sometimes to come to the forums to have a read and see what people are up to when the same horse is being flogged to death again in multiple threads.
  13. If you go to the options in DCS (the cog on the main menu screen) and select the Special tab and then select the F-4E-45MC down the bottom at the page that appears you can select a reduced radar mode - which may improve things for you.
  14. I'm no tech guru, but from my understanding, you need the transfer speeds of an SSD device for DCS (and arguably for all of modern gaming - depending on the genre). The retrieval speeds are significantly faster than a standard HDD = faster and more stable loading of data. As Max points out, old style spinning plate HDD's are too slow, you simply will have delays loading in all that data and you see that reflected in the differences between the drives and your games performance. You turn the radar off and it improves a bit and that is because less data is having to be retrieved. If you are stuck with a HDD you can perform a defragmentation of it to clean it up (Don't defragment a SSD device though!) and maybe speed it up some. It won't hit anywhere near SSD performance but it might help some. Another thing you could review your pagefile and move it to the SSD if required, you could also increase the size of it if needed. While this gives you theoretical "extra RAM" it may give you a performance increase, especially if your pagefile is on the HDD instead. Other things you could try (I'm not entirely sure if it is useful with DCS) but with some games increasing some display settings to higher settings will push workload onto the GPU and off of the CPU which can help increase general performance at times, if the CPU is under constant high loads. There are some DCS performance guides around a quick search reveals this one: I haven't used it myself so not sure if it would be beneficial to you or not. Long Story short, get another or a larger SSD if you can and shift DCS and it's maps to SSD drives only. If you can't maybe some of the above can ameliorate some trouble for you.
