WATCH THE PROMO VIDEO ABOVE SATAC stands for Squadron Air to Air Championship; this will be the second edition after 2013, which saw the triumph of the 51st PVO Regiment over NFI in a thrilling final match on a score of 2 rounds to 1. This PvP competition runs on a double knock out format meaning that each squadron must loose twice to exit the tournament. This means that no matter how things go, each squadron will have the opportunity to fly at least two matches, obviously more in case of victory. Therefore, SATAC offers a valuable opportunity for Squadrons to test their skills in a very strict PvP environment where only teamwork and cohesion decide who will advance to the next stage of the competition. Each round is a fighter sweep sortie where each side will try to control a specific airspace while denying the enemy the same either by forcing all opponents out of the bubble or by actually destroying them. Both 4v4 and 6v6 are allowed, teams can rotate their pilots after each round and all matches will be best of 3 rounds, i.e, the winner will be the first team to win two rounds. Even though it is a squadron based event, we also want to welcome lone wolves who can sign up and form teams for the purpose of this tournament. This event will count for the SA air-to-air rankings as a grade A competition, i.e, will hold the highest rankings points; it will also mark the end of the 2014/2015 season. An end of season SA Trophy will be shipped to whomever finishes the season #1 in the pilot rankings. The dates where this competition will take place will be set shortly after the imminent release of DCS 1.5, which will feature the eagerly awaited brand new graphics engine for DCS World (EDGE). We look forward to seeing many DCS squadrons as well as lone wolves stepping up to the plate to make the most out of what we hope will be a great competition filled with action packed fights and loads of fun and thrills.

Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages
FLANKERATOR replied to tovivan's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Your findings are overall accurate. All the missiles need tweaking but the 77 as you noticed is in a very bad shape (speed drops way too much compared to other missiles). The mod is going to give you more range with all the missiles but most servers don't allow it so it's not the best idea if you fly online frequently. Not sure about the 29's TWS but IIRC when I tested it upon its release it was giving a lock and launch warning. Might be different now though. I do agree on the total absence of upcoming modern Russian fighters that would counter their western counterparts like the Su-30/35. Don't give up if you love Russian birds keep flying them, they can still hold their own especially in a TvT setup so teamwork is the way to go and this has been proven many times in previous MP battles. -
Help defending against 120 ' and Radar missiles in general.
FLANKERATOR replied to Fallout's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
As a few pointed out here, my advice is to start with the white belt stuff such as getting a good grasp of how your radar and RWR displays information and how to read it and have an accurate picture of where you are in relation to surrounding threats or friendlies. Tacview is a must download that you have to watch everytime post flight to understand what happened and train your mind to draw accurate pictures in real time from inside your cockpit. Once you get good at staying out of trouble by detecting and defeating threats early, then you can move to more advanced training like offensive BVR where you can start firing back and getting incrementely closer to the NEZ. Once you feel comfortable in 'dancing with fire' from outside the NEZ, you can start the black belt stuff such as getting into the NEZ, using terrain, using your wingmen to bait the enemy and so on... -
ROFL Riptide, you beat me to it. Yes it did not last long but only because points from last year's JW2 have been dumped (12 month rule) and you had a lot to defend, otherwise, your consistency is still one of the very best! Spade has also been doing great, always among the very best performers so it's no surprise to see him taking that top spot. Well this is to let people know that the results have been posted and rankings updated. Enjoy and don't get too rusty as new challenges are already looming up! RF3 update will be released tonight. Please check out the replies to your claims in the SA forum if you have posted there. That thread will be closed in a few hours and further claiming wont be accepted so if anything, ensure you post it there asap.

Got a few PM's from people asking about points from previous events vanishing. Guys, There is a crucial section one must visit to understand where his SA points are coming from; it is the Result Breakdown section, which you find here for air-to-air---> http://sa-sim.com/rankings/dcsfc-a2a-rankings-breakdown/ and here for air-to-ground---> http://sa-sim.com/dcsfc-a2g-rankings/dcsfc-a2g-results-breakdown/ Get there and type your callsign into the text field so only your performances are displayed per event. Now here is the crucial part that most people are not aware of: points from any event have a Drop Date, which happens 12 months later; for instance an event that took place in June 2015 will not be considered for rankings as from 01.07.2016 (twelve months later); of course, this is done automatically by the system as the drop date is reached. This is meant to keep the rankings fresh and reflecting latest performances in the multiplayer arena, so staying active is important to defend your points and maintain your ranking. Drop dates are also included on the same page (Result Breakdown) and can be seen if you click on the little + sign on the left. Use the date drop down menu on top of the page to select earlier dates and see when a result has been dumped. Next update (01.08.2015) will add points from the last event Red Flag 3 AND will dump points from Joint Warrior 2, which happened in July 2014 (12 month ago). The list of points by pilot that will be dumped after RF3 update can be seen on the July 2014 Result page----> http://sa-sim.com/july-2014-official-results/ You can see that for instance, Maverick, Riptide and Teknetinium will have to defend a lot of points so I hope they did well at RF3 :)

Rankings have been updated to include the action from JW4 -----> http://sa-sim.com/ RF3 update in progress; Any claims, please post here asap before it gets locked:http://www.sa-sim.com/wp-content/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2818

Thanks mate.

Thanks for the heads up, Riptide; indeed, in this case it looks like the culprit is Tacview itself. Roger Frostie, I hope he will pop up to identify himself.
-
You must be the other Ocelot then...there are two of them! I will have to ask at what speed the track has been run at when generating the acmi, it does not look very reliable.
-
You're right Rage, it doesn't matter much for Tek as only the top 16 performers will receive ranking points. As for the rule itself, the final rtb is a must and while we grant people permission to respawn in most cases, disconnecting after the 'knock it off' final call is unfortunate just like disconnecting while being fired upon or while in a merge with a hostile.
-
Tek got a bit unlucky, if you check his logs you'll see that he has only one actual loss (SAM), the two other 'losses' were because of penalties from one teamkill and the other for not making the final landing in the last fight. Other pilots were unlucky as well, thinking about Pyro and Doktor who were killed because of a nasty desynch. Kombatmilc as well, he disconnected while airborne thinking he was in a merge with a hostile while in fact it was a friendly, so he could have rejoined the server. What to say, things go south sometimes in the virtual sky just like in the real one. Rage, thanks for the kind words, appreciate it :-)

JW4 results are complete now and can be seen here-->http://sa-sim.com/joint-warrior-4-official-results/ Rankings-wise, I'm adding some new features so I need to audit the ranking algorithms and database to preserve the integrity of the past results; as soon as this is finished, the rankings will be updated to include performances from JW4; you patience is appreciated. I already know though that Riptide from 104th will show up as the new world number one in the DCS air-to-air arena while Honos from the 71st squadron will consolidate his reign over the air-to-ground rankings.
-
I can confirm Blue coalition won 745 points to 200 points. JW4 result page will update later on today then the rankings and halls of fame will also be updated as the event is now over. Last reminder to post your kill/assist claims if any here-----> http://www.sa-sim.com/wp-content/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2814 Once the rankings are updated, no claiming will be accepted. Congratulations to the winners and kudos to every participant. RF3 is around the corner so see you soon!

Guys, pilots from the same squadron can not be opponents, otherwise, team victory bonus can not be applied for the squadron rankings.

Berioza as indicator for bogie distance
FLANKERATOR replied to Mowgli's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Unit for Russian avionics is Km. As for the 45 deg off nose, I've never heard of that before but what I know is that banking your aircraft past 30 deg may make your RWR loose the signal. -
Brilliant, thanks!
-
One should keep in mind that in this case the radar is slaved to EOS, which means that upon switching the radar on, it will already be pointing right at the target; now an IFF transponder is capable of processing hundreds of interrogations per second, we usually talk about microseconds per query, that is more than enough to process a quick Single target IFF check while staying below an RWR detection threshold.

My impression with the R-77 in game is that it hardly retains speed compared to the 120. There doesn't seem to be a wide difference in terms of speed and initial acceleration but deceleration-wise, the R-77 slows down much faster, which of course takes a big toll on the range. I've done some quick comparison work with data compiled from Tacview and it did confirm the obvious impression which I have been having when watching those two missiles flying in Tacview. Do you guys think that the Adder is supposed to loose that much speed, that fast?

It's been updated------>http://sa-sim.com/joint-warrior-4-official-results/ ROE have also been posted, if anything, please post here------>http://www.sa-sim.com/wp-content/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2816 One fight to go, best of luck to both teams! S!

Vyrtuoz, Would it be possible to import and add real-time fuel status to telemetry, both internal and external tanks? Engine rpm as well would be even better.

Hey guys, I will update the result page this afternoon, meanwhile I can confirm that Team Orange have won by 1105 points to 735 points. Team Orange will face Team Blue this Sunday then,TS meeting at 1630z. Fully detailed logs and pilot recap update will be processed later on today on the result page to take into account the outcome of the second prelim battle. For those who wonder, SA rankings won't update until the final fight is over. @ Rush: Map is solidly balanced so only for the sake of simplicity, Team Blue will go blue in-game and Team Orange will control the Red side; TS meeting as already announced by Maverick.
-
Nice Battle!! Team Orange appears to have won this one comfortably, of course pending confirmation once server logs are processed. Thanks everyone and next checkpoint will be the grand finale opposing team Orange to team Blue probably next Sunday, yet to be confirmed. if you have flown in this battle, please review your flight on Tacview once posted to see if there is any kill or assist for you to claim, which you can post here: http://www.sa-sim.com/wp-content/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2814 Once results are posted, claims can not be processed, so make sure you do this early. S!
