  1. This training is a fun way as a group to get proficient.
  2. If anyone is interested this is something we might implement casually at TAG. This is a sample training program on which someone might use to get proficient in the Sabre. This is meant to mirror something you might've expected to see in training in the 50's. There were most likely many more flights but here is a shortened version. If you really wanted the military experience you could study the real Sabre manual prior to attempting this to get the ground school vibe prior to even touching the jet. If you have a 50's syllabus they used that would be cool to use that. Familiarization Phase Flight One ( Single Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi -Takeoff -Normal Climb to working area -Basic Handling characteristics -Stalls -Spins (RL were prohibited) but why not -Normal Descent -Instrument Approaches -Landing Pattern -Shutdown checks Flight Two (Single Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi -Takeoff -Normal Climb to working area -Stalls -In Flight Emergencies -Emergency Descent -Precautionary Landing Pattern -Instrument Approaches -Normal Landing Pattern -Shutdown checks Flight Three (Single Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi -Takeoff -Normal Climb -NDB Navigation -Instrument Maneuvers -Instrument Approaches -Normal Landing Pattern -Shutdown checks A/A Phase Flight Four (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff with interval -Normal Rendezvous with Lead -Basic Fingertip Formation Flying -Basic Tactical Formation Flying -Tail Chase (Follow the Leader) -Formation RTB -Landing Pattern Flight Five (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff as element/section -Basic Fingertip Formation Flying -Basic Tactical Formation Flying -Basic Air to Air Training 1v1. -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Six (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff either interval or as element -Basic Fingertip Formation Flying -Basic Tactical Formation Flying -More advanced Air to Air Training 1v1. -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Seven (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Basic Air to Air Training 2v1. -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Eight (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Basic Air to Air Training w/ Missiles (might've been simulated back then using gun sight) -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern A/G Phase Flight Nine (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Basic Manual Air to Ground Bomb Deliveries -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Ten (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -More Dynamic Manual Air to Ground Bomb Deliveries -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Eleven (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Basic Auto Air to Ground Bomb Deliveries -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Twelve (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -DyanamicAuto Air to Ground Bomb Deliveries -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Thirteen (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Rocket Employment -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Fourteen (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Basic LABS Employment (Low Alt Bomb System) -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Flight Fifteen (Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Practice proper on deck conduct with ordnance -Takeoff either interval or as element -Tactical Formation Flying -Dynamic LABS Employment (Low Alt Bomb System) -Surface to Air fire contingencies -Post "Knock it off" Rendezvous -RTB -Instrument Approaches -Emergency/Normal Landing Pattern Graduation Hop Flight Sixteen(Multi Player) -Practice Startup -Practice Taxi w/ Lead Sabre -Takeoff either interval or as element -Fight way to target A/A -Attack Target -Fight Way Out -RTB -Instrument Approaches -Normal Landing Pattern If you're interested check out the link in my sig.
  3. Very modest brake usage with no NWS usage until at least below 60ish kts has worked well for me. A small wheel base and primitive NWS steering system would have been difficult on dry pavement, but hell on anything such as rain or snow. With the primitive nature of the jet, it lacks antiskid protection you would have on say the A-10, or F-15C making brake application that much more gentle.
  4. Since you wont listen to plenty of people with knowledge in this area look in the F86F Flt manual Chapter 6 Flight Characteristics. Amazingly it doesn't say there are any adverse rudder handling techniques. It states (due to being a turbojet vice prop) that very little rudder is required for coordinated turns(duh!). Look at your rudders as they move side to side while on ground at idle. Look at the full control deflection in degrees, they look normal to what I'd expect. Get airborne and they only can travel about 1/3 of that distance either way. There is a good possibility they've modeled the rudders to become less effective with more airflow due to the increased forces the pilot would have to input at higher speeds. I believe they might have modeled this in the beta just a little too aggressively. It also notates that with asymmetrical loading due to uneven stores that the rudder should be used to fly coordinated meaning it should have some effectiveness. This also means that when I'm level and input rudder the aircraft should initially yaw towards the input then follow with a roll in that direction.<-------that's aerodynamics Neil not 0's and 1's regardless of aircraft you've flown. With that being said why do I fly level and input full rudder, get the rudder to deflect 1/3 of the way, which is all it'll do and get no yawing at all? That's not correct unless you know how to bend the rules of physics. Go try it in external view first, then go to the cockpit and see if you pipper moves at all left or right regardless of airspeed. When in real life does a control input in the airflow not make any change, it doesn't. If you need to get a hold of the manual you can find it on this forum or my forum in my sig.
  5. Sever is giving connection interputed. bull
  6. I found these two items indicated when I look up Mig 15 Starter generator. 12SAM-25 DC battery and ST2-48 self-contained starter system.
  7. The physical switches are located in the following locations: Open Close Canopy: Look above the landing gear indicator lights. There should be a gray box with a gray knob just to the right of the canopy bow. The switch is a small silver left right switch literally six inches above the gear indicators....not to be confused with the inlet screen switch. Gun/Missile/Off : Center panel between your legs, top right black knob that indicates OFF....SIGHT/CAMERA/RADAR......GUNS.....MISSILE. If that doesn't help you find it, look at your cabin pressure gauge and go straight down.
  8. I'll bite Neil, is the person who nurses back a jet with severed control cables or missing ailerons the arcade hero, or is the person who thinks a tactical aircraft cant make it back with rudder and elevator alone? Its called survival instinct Neil pass it on.
  9. Both you ailerons were just shot off or severed leaving only your elevators and rudder to get the bird home. How do you control your longitudinal axis at this point? By use of rudders. Without rudders Neil you are missing a considerable portion of the experience.
  10. +1 on using the real manual, if it doesn't work from the manual its probably not modeled.
  11. +1 on Pacific, you'd have a open wallet from me.
  12. For now sorta. Gavagai's advice works as well but nothing beats having his energy bled down only to see him go into the vertical with a 2:1 Thrust to Weight Ratio. February can't come fast enough.
  13. This technique is gaming the system since it seems the Mig is using the SFM giving him quite an advantage but it works for now. The AI is fairly predictable as well allowing you to almost foresee his next move into the vertical. If you have decent airspeed follow him in the vertical and he should stall out in front of you giving you several shot opportunities. Thank Invisibull for teaching me this technique. Disclaimer and this hasn't been modeled but I'd suspect these zero airspeed departures at the top would cause at least a little reverse airflow down the tailpipe locking in a compressor stall or flaming out the F86 and Mig. For some reason this doesn't seem to be the case. Also make sure you use the sight to its full advantage. It's use changes night to day.
  14. Whenever I've had a compressor stall it locks in at 70 percent. Going idle doesn't clear it. Only selecting throttle off momentarily then back on then slowly increasing power have I been able to clear. This was done in combat and not tested independently.
  15. I agree with the gunsmoke and canopy, but I think she still handles great. Gavagai remember these are older jets without the fancy hydraulic or flyby wire systems of today, she's also not the mustang with a big prop on the end. Swept wing design is fairly new in the world of aero so stall fences and slats haven't been optimized yet. It's different and my favorite module until I get a chance to fly the Mig.
  16. First Post!
  17. Preflight planning maybe with the whiz wheel, but don't nuke it.
  18. Your procedure works the only thing I do differently is press the release button before I release the elec. cage button and it works for me.
  19. nice catch if this is the case:thumbup:

  23. Thanks Pappy, I had taught myself html5 code basics over several days and started using Dreamweaver to build a site but once it got to the details, time ran out and I said screw it and went for the free site. This was super important since the verdict is still out on Korean War interest. Feel free to register and make contributions to the site. I still have alot of content to add so keep checking in.
  24. From Pilotmi8: DCS: MiG-15bis Flight Manual is now available here: http://www.belsimtek.com/download/documentation/ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Is there such a thing thats been translated? I've seen Mi-8 manuals translated for English speaking pilot use. Perhaps one was translated for the civilian variants flown at many airshows in English speaking countries. It'd be nice to get a head start on this treat. UPDATE: Getting Closer but not quite there yet. 25. You said what I was thinking Sir Robin.
