  1. Yes, we really need more of these. Along with toggle switches, for example "Toggle locked beam mode on/off", as I'm running out of buttons :)
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the frequency change as soon as you fire the missile ? But just like Ironhand, I'm no expert. At least it wouldn't make sense to me that, if it was possible to fire the missile with just the search frequency, that this functionality was only used in Flood mode.
  3. Can't see your track right now, but I assume you mean inverted departure right ? It can happen easily if you're not careful, and as far as I know it is not unrealistic by any means - The Flanker was designed aerodynamically unstable and the FCS can't always hold her in place.
  4. And it was there the whole time. Thanks ED, now I'm going to try this out for the next three hours :D
  5. Who ever said they wanted to model Vietnam ? Right now, let them focus on the Mirage and the Buckeye.
  6. I think you need to pull the emergency handle next to the stick first, as it also opens the gear doors, then use the main handle.
  7. RSBN and ARK emitters are only placed at airfields, so unless your flight plan comes near one they can't really be used for navigation. Think of them more as an approach tool than navigation equipment. Either use AWACS vector to target or look at the map on your kneeboard (Ctrl Up arrow). You can also press Control Down arrow to mark your location on the map, but that's a bit of an immersion breaker.
  8. I think the OP wasn't requesting a new feature, rather looking for a mod allowing slingload.
  9. Got it ! My friend finally got some money. Good luck for those who are in !
  10. Thanks. I thought that the ET's seeker was slaved to the radar, that certainly explains it. Falcon BMS has spoiled me !
  11. Hello, I am having trouble using the ET in the Su-27. With a target locked and in range according to the HUD, I am not getting launch authorisation. I have tried using EOS, radar and both on, with no luck. Sometimes it will randomly work, but I have been multiple times right in front of a target, within visual range, and the missile refused to go off the rail. Overriding LA does not seem to work as the missile doesn't track. Am I doing something wrong or is it a known bug ? I have noticed that the 27's missiles in general seem to be tough to use against Slammer-armed opponents. The ER has slight range advantage but is semi-active, and the ET can't fire at max range. And avoiding the Slammers is risky business since you get launch warning moments before impact. For example, I've tried the HVA hunt mission for the past two days and only managed to down the AWACS once, by pure blind luck. All the other times the F/A-18s would splash me before I could down all of them. I thought the ET would be a good response but as I said it isn't working for me, and you can only carry two of them while the 18s have actives on every pylon.
  12. If I remember correctly a spoken version of the tutorial is coming. But if you have trouble with anything just ask around on the forums, or get on Teamspeak online and learn with someone !
  13. Yeah, that's a problem with most cold war era aircraft. The american Red Eagles hated it, both in the air and on the ground, and it even killed one of their test pilots. But they flew these aircraft without any flight or maintenance manuals. The Syrian reports are no doubt propaganda. I think Mikoyan published a guide for MiG-23 pilots : They said it was superior to the F-4, roughly equal to the (early) F-16, and inferior to the F-15. I don't know if they were comparing ability in BVR or maneuverability, but it seems about right. The MLD variant seems quite capable. It could withstand up to 8G, and it more or less fixed the instability and spin problems with the Type 4 wing. That's definitely an aircraft I'd love to see in DCS.
  14. I think you're correct. The Phoenix was fast but not that agile. Also, I've heard it had some reliability problems, but I'm not exactly sure about that. It's also important to remember that it was a very heavy missile, so few Tomcats carried a full 6 Phoenix load - almost 1 ton of missiles. About the MiG-23 : Depends on who you ask. I know the Indian air force used it quite successfully (even contacting Mikoyan for a potential upgrade project). The Russians also had a number of projects for it, such as a carrier-capable variant. Some of them were even wired to carry nuclear bombs. They were abandoned to avoid having too many different aircrafts in their fleet. Also, if I am not mistaken it used the exact same RWR than the MiG-21. It wasn't until the ground attack MiG-27 that they finally equipped it with the SPO-15.
  15. The F-14 crew doesn't necessarily have to "fail" : the radar can be jammed using active or passive countermeasures, and BVR missiles can be defeated - the MiG's acceleration would make it quite doable. The biggest concern I'd have with a F-14/MiG-21 matchup is the MiG's awful RWR. Against an opponent with such a powerful radar the MiG is definitely going to have a hard time.
  16. Hello, I am having trouble getting my Saitek profile to work in-game. The stick itself is working fine, so I thought I'd try using a profile for added functionality. I set most of my controls directly in DCS World and only used the profile editor for keys I could not map otherwise (ex. The scrollweel is mappedyby default to mouse right click). Now, clicking the pinkie switch would bring up a Microsoft NET error and crashed the software, so I gave up on that. Setting up the profile itself was pretty straightforward. After loading, it correctly showed up on my MFD. But testing it both with the "test profile" button and in Black Shark did not seem to work. Here's what I think happened : The "Shift" indication on the MFD seemed to stay on even while I was not holding the switch. I assume that's why my buttons didn't register, but maybe I missed a step somewhere ? Is the profile loading more complicated than just hitting "Load profile" ? Thanks in advance.
  17. That's very kind of you ! I'd love the F-15C. Not for me, but for a good friend who's been out of money for a while. That way we can finally get some flights going !
  18. Are you sure about that ? When you click the IFF button the only symbols are - and =, height information shouldn't be appearing.
  19. In my experience, the radar is quite imprecise regarding contact height. "T", for example, appears very rarely, and targets on my level are often marked as "Inverted T", over me. So yes, the manual is accurate, the radar is not :megalol: Usually if I need to be level with something I lock it up for a second, since the radar seems to be more accurate that way.
  20. The Rafale is still highly classified regarding weapon systems and radar, and while it isn't a problem for a non combat add-on for FSX, you can't make a DCS-level module of it yet.
  21. Of course, otherwise it wouldn't be a DCS module.
  22. I agree that the RIO seat will take time, but it isn't the first multi-seat aircraft in DCS. The Mi-8 and Huey both have multiple seats, and if I am not mistaken the Hawk should be dual seat too.
  23. I obviously don't know if it is realistic or not, but seeing as it does not always occur, I'm not sure if it is intended or not. I'd assume that at least full AB would get you out, but apparently not.
  24. They've released other hints, look at the last pages of the "Leatherneck new Facebook picture" thread for a gif that will confirm what you think :)
  25. Without any other info I'd say you are flying too fast for the gear to operate properly, but I could be wrong. Try uploading a track file.
