Question about the discount on steam
joker68 replied to unknownaussie's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
If I own all my modules from e-shop and buy or receive a gift of a10c II from steam, will it work when I start the standalone dcs world? (I already have my steam account tied to my dcs account) -
Is there a way to hide the control stick?
joker68 replied to zakmichaels's topic in Bugs and Problems
F86 supports hiding the stick too. Should be a general feature for all modules. -

Black Shark 1 dvd version install

Hi JJflyer, is your copy digital or DVD? Now I'm curious why it isn't running on my end, as I run DCS without problems. -
Black Shark 1 dvd version install
joker68 replied to agathosdaimon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I have the digital copy of Ka-50 (the first one, aka Black Shark 1), and I installed it again in my Windows 10. AFAIK, it uses some kind of "soft starforce" (without drivers) to check for authenticity. Although I was able to install it, I'm not able to start it (it just flashes and goes back to desktop). Using Win10 1903 with latest nVidia drivers (440.97). -
Well, tried the server. Couldn't enable labels (SHF_F10 didn't work), then I lost enemy planes every time they zoomed into sky. DCS must be the worst sim in terms of spotting capability (planes are washed out against dark sky, and it is impossible to track them without labels, forcing you to choose between full "realism" or playability). In fact, in real life you wouldn't loose a plane against the sky so easily... so this kinda defeats all the "realism" DCS brings to the table. Would be nice to have a solution. I'm using a 34"ultrawide IPS monitor, color calibrated with good contrast, can track in all other sims, but not on DCS. Sad.

Thanks for the info and for testing it. Planning on reinstall the module when I'm back this Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Hi Bun, no I haven't, but soon after taking off I see that the seat goes down a bit, so it is working correctly, I guess. Also, when starting a vanilla mission (any that comes with DCS) like "intercept" (air start), the same problem occurs. Will try disable this later this week (I'm travelling, so I'll be away from pc until then). Thanks for the tip. Will report back.
-
No reason to be sorry, Lixma. I guess I will reinstall and see what happens then. Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks Lixma, I tried to create a "fast mission" but the problem is still there. Will try a bit more to adjust the views in order to find a good compromise, otherwise, maybe a full reinstall. If all else fails, wait for a new update (who knows?) or forget about it entirely. It's a pity, I really like the F86, but it's really hard to play without seeing the pipper. May try some gun mods that I've heard about some time ago, something related to correcting guns being misaligned on the original plane... didn't pay attention that time, perhaps this can save me now. Cheers.

Yes, restarted DCS, and all without trackir. No dice. Curious enough, DCS didn't create a new View folder... Dunno what happened. Also, when I try to adjust manually the pilot's head position, by the time I can see the pipper, I'm almost buried inside the cockpit (looking to the sides, I can barely see over the sidewall). Starting to think that DCS may have another place where it is looking for the view info, not the saved games/DCS/...etc...
-
Thanks Lixma, that's how I remember seeing it in older versions (prior to 2.5), and it's definitely *not* what I'm seeing now. My head is way up than this. It seems that my default view is all messed up, don't know why. Is there a simple way to restore the game's default head position? EDIT: tried this, from another thread about restoring default views: "Go to your saved games/DCSXXX/ Config folder and delete the view folder. That will return all cockpit views to default." to no avail. This is what I see: https://imgur.com/a/wQo3F3V The pipper is "above" the hud (if I duck using track ir, I can see it)

Hi guys, tried to find something related on the forum, but wasn't able to. When flying level the F-86 module, I need to "duck" inside the cockpit in order to see the gunsight reflected on HUD (I use trackir). This only happens on F-86 module, and no, I'm not talking about the raised seat that F-86 has when you're on the ground/landing. This happens after you took off and the seat already returned to the "normal" position. At first I thought that the pilot's head position was off, but lowering it in order to be able to see the gunsight ended up with the pilot almost ducked on the cockpit (good to see the gunsight, not good for everything else), so this isn't the answer. Anyone else experimenting such thing? Cheers

Will keep an eye on this. Finding F86 servers is getting hard these days.

Maybe it is because it would be much more CPU demanding to dinamically calculate where water should appear or not and adjust accordingly than just render it as a "world level base" and simply render ground textures over it.Of course I don't know about map making, but unless it is "hand made" with every lake, river or sea carefully fitted, making a "sea level" as a single object and then adjusting the position of ground map resulting in water textures naturally "clipping and filling" everything below that level seems to be the easiest way. In short: maybe having several water objects dispersed at specific locations (rivers, lakes, ocean) can be heavy on resources than a single large object. Just guessing.

I agree that I wouldn't feel a very shallow climb or descent, but you can "see" the aileron trimming going wrong just looking at the horizon. At least for me it is *really* hard to get the sweet spot - it seems it always go from "little bit less" to "little bit much", even doing "millisecond touches" on the HAT switch trying to stabilize. Oh, and I mean "seat of pants", you know, when you feel the forces with your body. Must have been some automatic "correction" from my comp.
-
I only have a Warthog, and I'm curious about your findings, as I also suffer from the same problem. Trim in DCS is a PITA, you can never be at the sweet spot - all you can do is to reduce the tendency for a while. Since we don't have seat of paints (SoP) feeling on computer simulation, it would be nice to have an "auto trim", where you would put the plane on the exact desired behavior and then push a button to "auto trim" in that situation (much like the trim work on helicopters). IMHO more realistic than trying to trim without SoP. RL private pilot too (single prop engine).

Finishing a quick action mission (dogfight mustangs vs doras) on Normandy, game crashed after landing. DCS.LOG attached, may help to identify possible bug. dcs.log-20180201-234318.zip

Thank you for these!

Hi debolestis, please use them as you see fit. Thanks again for your work creating these 3D models for us to salvage our Warthogs. A few more if you wish:

Well, the question above was asked after I exchanged some PM with debolestis, and as no one seems to have done it before, I went away and ordered the angled tailpiece. Bad side is that my country Customs made a "mistake" on tax calc and I ended up paying U$90 total for having it in my hands - a hefty step from original $12, but I'm sure this is a "privilege" only for those living in Brazil. Would like to thank debolestis again for doing this for the community. The comfort provided by flying with a somewhat inclined joystick (in a central position) is great. Salute!

132nd Public release 1: Air Warfare doctrine and TTP for Air operations

Thanks for these, guys. I'm still a noob regarding DCS, and I think this will help me to get the grip of how things work (beyond just flying the ACs) way faster. Kudos!
