Well, my understanding was that 1.5 would install automatically over the current version. Now i think it will only do it under Beta version. I got confused cause there are many posts about it and finally i didn't know what to do. Today i tried downloading the beta installer. I installed it. Ran it as admin with my antivirus disabled. It all goes ok but after getting the latest updater version, it stops at "Downloading version info..." and it crashes, getting the message "DCS has stopped working." I have no idea what to do. I downloaded the beta which is just a few mb. When is already installed and i double click its icon or run its updater, after the "downloading version info" message i get: "DCS updater has stopped working" And it closes the program. Is this right? This is happening till the release of 1.5 or i shouldn´t be getting that message?

And map names? Is there any kind of mod that allows to edit/change default names for cities, AF, etc? That would be the best add on for your textures; and campaigns would be more immersive.

Sorry for the OT guys, but i enjoy 51st server very much flying the Balalaika, excellent ground for practice and equal fights between other 21s and also hawks. I haven´t seen it online the last couple of days (and i miss it), will it be back soon Tek? Thanks in advance.

Got 2nd and 3rd two days ago, and since then I've been making progress. :smartass: First kill showed here is an F15, i knew there were a bunch of them. I made some mistakes anyway, after getting the 1st one i chose the wrong valley to escape; and also when i maneuver get at the 2nd F15 six, the high-yo yo i do is too high and was picked up by a 3rd F15 which kills me as i was launching a R13M1. Second kill is quite clear, i ambush a bunch of A-10s and got one. Funny part, the F15 pilot who shot me down is the one i got as my first kill at 104th :music_whistling:

Thanks for the tip. Yes he was lagging when i shot both R3R...they both missed, and also when i was at his 6 with cannon, which made it hard to calculate deflection Hey, i've just found this video. IMHO all MiG-21 lovers must watch; I think is the best PvP video i've watched with the "21". MISHA YOU ARE GOD! :notworthy:

GOT MY FIRST KILL! Last night i finally joined 104st server and on the second sortie i got my first kill! And it was an F-15 so twice as pleased :D After my 2x R3R missed the target, i scored a R-60M hit and finished it with cannons. First kill at 104th server PS. Thank you Haldwell and all MiG21 veterans for sharing all your videos and useful tips.

Hey Uther good to know that! Let's join each other on TS and go to some server when you feel like it. For me the transition to DCS was done three months ago when i installed the SIM and first got the lovely MiG-15bis. Smooth transition cause it was just about the same than i was used to, just gun fighting, almost no systems to care about and just focus on energy management and ACM while i got used to DCS visuals and general SIM functionality. IMO as soon as you can join online servers, it will make you progress fast! For example from the last video i posted i learned a lot; i think we usually learn more from things than go wrong than those which get 100% right.

No way, i got the MiG-21 four weeks ago, trying to figure out all this radar and missile business as i had no idea, i've been a " guns fighter" in il2 sturmovik for 9 years; and i don´t even have 5 days experience in online servers with the 21 yet. Check this video from yesterday, very short, but long enough to show the greenhorn i am haha! I did everything wrong: 1. After launching R3R i didnt follow the missile trail to find my tgt. 2. I lost track of him. 3. When i finally find him again i miss a great chance to lock him with SARH again. 4. I hesitate and lose time making up my mind whether to use IR or SARH 5. I disagree. That is subjective. Anyway, i'm not interested in dragging this topic to a futile discussion; the title of this thread says it by itself. BTW MiG21s against Sabres? Well, that is not what KOREA 1965 server is about :

Exactly mate, 1965 Korean War server is excellent for new MiG-21 pilots as myself. Server cycles between Korea 1953 and 1965 and is about 4 hours long each. MiG-21s vs Sabres yes. But also vs another MiG21s and Hawks, not an uneven fight, is it? I'm sure MiG-21s vs F-15s and Su-27s is veeery equal fight :megalol: Good pilots in Sabres can kill MiG-21s at low level with GAR8, i've seen it happening Korea 1965 is a fictitious and excellent server for newbies to get a bit of experience in a MiG-21 before joining more demanding servers. I just got it three weeks ago, lovely beast. And one more thing i also find important, not only LN product is one of the best modules, but also unlike other 3rd party producers they always come to forum and reply to user questions and keep us informed about how things go. Thank you Aus3620! I have finished the campaign, finally! As you can see here we've completed the 18 missions with my squad mates=> http://www.ecv56condor.com.ar/Foro/viewtopic.php?TopicID=45768 Now before i release it for the community I've to translate all the briefings and in-mission messages to English language. The campaign will be available for both SINGLE and MULTIPLAYER (up to 6 pilots). As i said, need to translate and tune it a little bit, and for that i need 2 Russian speaking guys willing to have their voices recorded for in mission messages; for the Chinese one i already have been offered some help, fortunately. RED DEVILS OVER THE YALU RIVER is coming after the release of DCS 1.5 if all goes well with it.

And yes, that is what i thaught, lost him behind a hill. @Neil: Yes, it is rewarding, thx mate. @Scaflight: Regarding the oscillations in my pursue with IR you are spot on, the problem is i just got a Saitek X-52 pro after using just a Saitek EVO for 9 years (a deadly joystick when you don´t have to use too many buttons, DEADLY, check my MiG15 dogfight videos :D ) , so i'm getting used to the joystick sensitivity and have not set the curves well yet; i will check what are the best curve settings for my X52 under DCS and i hope i can do smooth turns and pursues then. I didn´t IFF, you are right. The reason is by then we were the only 2 planes flying there, so no need for IFF. I've noticed the big smoke you mention, i will take care of that. BTW the AAA was shooting at me, i was above his positions and he attacked his own by mistake. Thank you again for your advice.
