Mike Force Team started following Cool Breeze
-
@AndyJWest Personally, I would look to other developers for modules regardless of how the dispute is resolved. As far as module development goes there's been no official claim in a license from ED for the Mirage III, so any developer that can prove to ED that they have the necessary documentation and capability to develop it should be given the opportunity to develop it. I'm unlikely to purchase another Razbam modules in the future. I feel many in the DCS community would prefer new developers with less tainted reputations and baggage to be given opportunities to develop what ever aircraft they have access to regardless of any dev team waving around unfinished 3-d models.

F-35A Announcement discussion mega thread.
Cool Breeze replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
DCS is nothing but 'that'll do...' modules! To this day modules like the Hornet and Viper a missing MFD pages, systems that are ITAR restricted and are still receiving tweaks to the flight models. Do you think our weapons like the AAMRAM, Phoenix, R-77,.... are anything more than ED's own in house coding, best public white paper research, SME advice, and the best CFD that ED and the third parties can manage? The vast majority of this 'sandbox sim' is best guess, CFD, and hard coding... There are literally a couple dozen modules for people to fly without loosing their heads over one module! -
Hey folk, so I'm playing around with different SEAD loadouts like Shrike coupled with Hobo or Walleye and I'm running into a bit of a delay in employment. I know TV and IR guided weapons require a three minute warm up time, but is this required for every activation? On an air start practice mission of mine I load up a pair of Shrikes and either a pair of Hobos or Walleye. Set up for the TV weapons is by the book HUD Mode to A/G with 17 mils depression, Master Arm On, Stations selected, Weapon selector to TV, Delivery mode to Direct, and DSCG select switch to TV. From there I receive picture from the weapons just fine and piper depression looks good with the TV feed. Now I switch over to the Shrike Master Arm On, Stations selected, Weapon selector to ARM, and Delivery mode to AGM-45. The search radar is up, so I'm getting good tone from the Shrike. Run in on the radars, do some pilot stuff, and send the Shrike on their merry way to teach the bad guys that shooting missiles at people is naughty! Now comes the delay, regardless if it's a quick change or a few minutes, switching back to the TV munitions requires about three minutes to get the TV picture back on the DSCG. Again if it's 'feature' then so be it, but it seems a bit illogical that once the weapons are spun up and the stations are left powered on that just switching between Delivery and/or Weapons modes should make them go dead cold immediately. I have similar results with using the Mavericks regardless of which type IR or TV. Maybe it's a difference in the platform, but if testing with other aircraft is a guide then switching from Mavericks to other weapons then back to Mavericks doesn't result in the same problem. Is this just a tactical employment issue that these weapons would have never been utilized together in real life, because of the possible repeated warm up times when used on the Phantom? I have a hard time understanding why that would be the case when we have so many pre made weapons profiles with these weapons paired, either Shrike with Hobo and Walleye or the Mavericks. If I'm doing something incorrectly I'm happy to learn and correct this issue. Thanks folks!

I didn't want to get the Corsair II thread to off topic, sorry, but Heatblur just announced today that the AI A-6 would be coming 'this summer' and we would be seeing more about it after the Typhoon gets nearer release.
-
So,whats going on with this then ?
Cool Breeze replied to badger7966's topic in DCS: A-7E Corsair II
The Intruder is in the works from Heatblur they have posted on it being a confirmed module from them on a couple different forums. That being said it's not going to be cruising the DCS sky's for a few years at best. They have the Tomcat to finish, an unreleased AI KA-6 tanker that's been hiding in the clouds some were, the Phabulous Phantom quite obviously, working with True Grit on the Typhoon, and a couple unannounced projects that could come before or after the Intruder. -
Call me cynical, but purposefully keeping the detail area around where The Channel map are located lower than others, omitting landmarks, and certain airfields is an attempt to keep that module/map relevant. Having all of the development time that ED put into it washed away with the new map would hurt ED and Campaign makers to a certain extent.

Ok, so I know I may be late to the party on the speculation on this image, but I didn't see any specific mentions of it in the forums here. Looking at Manitudes New Years post the two aircraft that are in silhouette of the red shell burst I casually thought, looking on my phone screen, of them as more Zero teasers. Now going back to them on my much larger monitor I started noticing more details that I missed. Looking more closely at the underside of the cowling there is a more prominent fairing there, the canopy was relatively frameless, the aerial mast behind the cockpit appeared in a different place, and the tail of the aircraft were very different from any Zero/Zeke model I'm familiar with. I know Magnitude and ED are working on multiple assets for the PTO including I think very obviously the AI Zero/Zeke is among many other assets, so is it possible they are hiding other AI fighters up their sleeve? My speculation here would be that they have an AI Ki-84 Hayate in the works in addition to the heavily teased Zero! Is anyone else seeing the same thing or am I completely off base here? I should have mentioned this in the original post, but one of the observations that I have make in the mission is -21 uses his afterburner prolifically! Lol Just on the initial join up over the airfield -21 is in full burner and it can be hard to join up with him. Also after leaving the Admiral Kusnetsov Task Force he is in full burner until the join up with the Su-27 and Su-34's. Thank you very much for this Campaign Stone Sky it's really been fun and enjoyable flying, Cheers!

While flying the 'Professionals' mission towards the end when we are ordered to orbit at 1000ft -21 does fine for a while, but inexplicably takes a nose dive into the ground. I'm assuming he is set to invincible because he starts bouncing and nosediving repeatedly for several minutes until he disappears! I'm not able to upload the track file, because even compressed it's over 50MB. If anyone can suggest an alternate I'll be happy to share them. https://www.facebook.com/100000072566262/videos/1224728594598755/

Gau-8 effectiveness and accuracy study
Cool Breeze replied to Cool Breeze's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
No, the one I'm looking for is focused primarily on the Gau-8 and the A-10. It went very in depth on rounds fired vs. rounds on target, the effects of the particular rounds used, effective employment angles, and the like. This is an interesting PDF thank you for sharing it, I'll dig into it when I get some more free time! -
Ok, I'm looking for a particular study done by the Army and/or the Air Force on the effectiveness and accuracy of the Gau-8 mounted on the A-10 against armored vehicles. My key word search skills are remedial to say the least unfortunately. lol I know I've seen the study shared in a few posts and various places in the A-10 forum I'm just unable to find it. If your able to share it with me here it would be much appreciated! I've found the 'Coloring Book for A-10 Pilots' and am looking for something else. Thanks for any help!

Every developer has a proprietary approach to how they code their modules which is as different as to how the various countries and manufactures installed and regulated similar engines. The coding for how ED developed the Merlin for the Mustang and the Spitfire is probably very different even though it was done by the same developer. I asked a similar question when back when the P-47 and the F4U were announced.
-
Having the clock off seemed to fix the issue, but that begs the question as to why. Selecting the WW II coalition presets and changing the date to a 1940's time period should be right where the Skytrain operated. May be it has something to do with the Transport category disappearing all together in the 1940's and doesn't show back up until 1954 with the 'Clock' on.
-
Using the 'Combined Joint Task Forces Blue' gives me an even shorter list, and still nothing with changing the coalition to the UK... lol The only time I can get the transport category to show up is with a "Modern" time setting, and the C-47 won't show there either.
