  1. Yes I'm still looking forward to spending a few hours in BF3 with ultra high settings. I bet it looks amazing!
  2. I'm using the newest driver and I haven't noticed a difference. But, I was only using 301.42 for a day so I didn't have enough time to test it out. What I'm also finding impressive is I've been able to record with FRAPS at a steady 30FPS during almost half a dozen BS2 missions. This card truly is a monster. Makes me wonder what the 690 4GB can do. Now if only DCS in future updates could utilize more cores, and with good video cards with lots of vram, along with 64bit goodness, we will hopefully end up with missions that have hundreds or even thousands of units. Yummy.
  3. Yup. It looks like technology has finally caught up to the game engine. Just about the right time to release a new engine, so we can reset all the back to the beginning.
  4. Thanks Lawndart! I tried that guide and managed to OC. I did notice improvement right away!
  5. Very nice! Arma2 is the only sim I haven't tried yet. I need to download it again. It's very CPU and GPU hungry. I hope Arma3 performs well with GTX 600 series.
  6. I see. Well, I think to solve this is to have 4GB models in Triple SLI :-) Done. hehehe.
  7. ..Because you know first hand what those challenges are as you and the rest of the team were contemplating making the Super Hornet your next DCS: Fighter, but instead decided to go with the F/A-18C? :smilewink:
  8. So you think 2xGTX 670 2GB in SLI would be better than 1xGTX 670 4GB for triple monitor setup?
  9. Hmm. I think someone with more ATi experiance would know. My last ATI card was Rage Pro 8MB
  10. Very true. $100 cheaper and performance is almost on par with 680. Problem is if you want to go 3-monitor setup (I like do one day) the 2GB wont be enough. Otherwise, for 1 monitor 670 does DCS great.
  11. Skyrim, Arma2 and BF3 should look top notch as well. :-)
  12. Hey guys... Just bought GTX 670 2GB. First thing I did was load up A-10C, pumped all the graphics to the teets, and started up a mission. All I have to say is WOW! Well, I have more to say than that. I'm getting a steady 60FPS at ground level and a steady 60FPS during most of the mission. This was always an issue wth GTX 460. The only time the FPS dropped down to about 35-45 FPS when using TGP in IR modes. With the field of view zoomed out and looking at a city, the FPS did dip down to 25 occasionally. But it was still very smooth. That is still amazing FPS considering all the settings are so high. Everything is maxed out, even the clutter and trees. I'm very pleased with performance and for the price ($420 CDN). It was this video card or Warthog HOTAS. It was a tough decision, but in the end, I realized I didn't feel like learning a new HOTAS for all the flight sims I'm flying right now. That will be next purchase though. BTW, running A-10C on 27" Asus LED monitor @ 1920 x 1080. I have Sandy Bridge doing 4.8Ghz as well, so both CPU and Vid card seem to be a great combo for DCS. Now it's time to load up the Shark !!
  13. Great news! Just curious, with the battle expanding to the ground - will the MP code support more players? I'm not sure what the limit is, but with people wanting to control ground units, as well as air units - I would hope for at least 64 player MP or more?
  14. Hi, I have a copy of DCS: Blackshark 1 that is not being used at all. I purchased the stand alone Blackshark 2 when it came out, so I have no need for it. I want to give it to someone who could use it, but doesn't have money in these hard economic times. Is it possible to transfer over a copy of Blackshark 1 to another person? Just curious how that would work. And if so, can I advertise it free on buy and sale forum? Thanks!
  15. I'm not sure there will be another DCS Jet after this update, that said, I'm fine with the DCS A-10C for another couple of years. Combat-Helo has just moved up to #1 in my list of sims to look forward to. It may not be a fast jet, but at least we know what it is, and have an idea of what is included with it.
  16. $26 bucks for the finest piece of software I have ever purchased. What a great deal. If you don't own it and you don't buy it now you have issues soldner!
  17. During this state preservation you can change your name to 'Stop', instead of 'Speed' ? :-)
  18. Hahah! Blackshark almost did that back in 2008 was it? What really did it was when I bought TrackIR with BS...bye bye lady friend. Until you find a gf that actually thinks your hobby is cool. That is not easy to find...got lucky with that.
  19. When you are least expecting it, probably on a cold, rainy Tuesday morning, you will see a huge announcement and the sim world will rejoice (and get upset - depending on the aircraft.) Just stay healthy and keep your PC healthy. The Hornet, oppps sorry. I mean the next DCS aircraft will come.
  20. Hey Sobek, I recently built a CAD/3D Max render machine for my co-worker. I bought ATI Firepro v8800 2GB + 16GB RAM. It's using a Core i7 CPU @ 2.8Ghz. I can't really compare to what other machines do because I've only built one, but this machine does great at CAD and rendering 3D stuff, and it does it really fast as well. Problem is the ATI Firepro is a $1300 video card. Ouch. Edit - The 16GB of RAM was vital. Any less and the viewports would lag a lot.
  21. I've had a pretty successful DCS BS career while having mostly avoided all enemy helos. I've shot down maybe 10 enemy helos that I detected at a distance, and I've probably been shot down about 20 times by US Cobra's, maybe a couple times from Hinds. Just turn around, get low and avoid those aircraft. It's worked for me. Their mission is usually to attack friendly armor, so once you leave the area, come back and target them when they are occupied attacking something else. Fighting enemy helos is probably the most difficult thing you can do in a Blackshark, so don't worry about not being good at it..gosh I still suck at it.
  22. I think it's safe to assume we'll have a fix for these issues within a week or two. I don't think they would wait months. It takes months for an entire patch, not a few fixes.
  23. I've loaded the following missions since new patch. Georgian hammer 2.1 - CTD Georgian Hammer 2.3 - CTD Georgian Hammer 3.1 - CTD Georgian Hammer 5.1 - CTD Georgian Hammer 5.2 - CTD Devils Cross 1A - CTD Devils Cross 1B - PC Froze Weapons Training - CTD I've given up until a fix is released. I'm patient I can wait. I do miss completing missions though. Edit - This is the only patch that has been unstable for me. Which I think is amazing, considering the complexity.
  24. hehe yeah. Problem was I wasn't waiting long enough for them to actually kill their targets. Not really seeing some SAM's on RWR lately either.
