  1. When flying missions before, I didn't wait long enough for SEAD and CAP to do their jobs, so when I went in to attack, I would usually have to deal with SAM's and AAA, and 50% of the time I would get hit or killed. So this week I tried patience...just chilling near or around IP for a long time, waited for the coast to clear, and went in to engage. Suddenly the enemy fire was not so bad and was able to easily support the advance of Mace and Pine to their objectives. :-) Lesson #122304 of 44450303. Progress is being made! :pilotfly:
  2. Comms menu - Formations - F6. This is finger four formation and it's a tight formation. Edit - Not sure if it's as tight as your picture above, but it's the tightest formation I've noticed so far.
  3. I had a chance to fly in the Nevada map in Beta. Flying in the desert is lots of fun. It's a really nice change from the current map. The quick mission generator (in it's early days) did provide some fun and exciting missions. Finding targets on the desert floor was a bit easier as well, so I don't think we'll be as glued the the TGP as we normally would be in Georgia/Russia. When the new Nevada comes out, it will have the new terrain engine so it will be a worthy upgrade to purchase. New engine + desert = fun. It's worth $20 bucks for sure. I'm assuming if it's successful with sales, we will see more maps coming out in the future.
  4. heheh yeah. I hope it can get up to 5Ghz 'easily'. My 2600k can do 5Ghz but it needs a crazy amount of voltage. If the 3930k can do 5Ghz without needing 1.5v. 2600k - Rock DCS completely. 3930k - Rock DCS completely + 1. Either way, you are right. It's still not worth the upgrade for current Sandy Bridge owners.
  5. The Core i7 3930K; 6 cores, 12 threads, 12 MiB cache, 3.2/3.8 GHz. When this is released, I think it's a better deal. Half the price of the 3960K and only 3MB less of cache. What I really want to see is the 3930K overclocked. If we can get it up to 5Ghz easily, it will rock DCS completely. I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge myself. Only had current system for 10 months.
  6. I like the idea of flying cover for A-10C's with F-15C's. Finally we have units that actually support each other in a very direct way. Looking forward!!
  7. I'm getting phenomenal performance with the new patch. Especially when activating the TGP and Maverick, the FPS doesn't drop down so much now.
  8. Yes. It turns out it was my Saitek SST profiling software. It was repeating my x & y inputs, as well as rudder inputs. I doubt this would be a solution for anyone else. I also spent several hours tweaking the settings in game. The response curves..etc. I have finally fixed it and now can fly properly.
  9. Sorry. Here is the track trimming issue.trk
  10. Hello - I'm having a serious control issue with BS2. I never had this issue with BS1. I think it has to do with the trimming. I've been messing with it for a few hours. I've done two fresh installs. My X-52 is setup exactly same as BS1, same profile, same X & Y settings...same everything. Video of issue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnchQ2GiTzE I know how to trim normally. See anyone of my videos in my channel (in my sig) and you can see I`ve never really had this issue before. The controls are extremely twitchy. Even when I`m properly trimmed, I roll right and left very easily. When I hold down the trimmer button is when it seems to get very twitchy. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!
  11. Screw it I can't wait for more activation's. Just going to buy full version. More support for ED I guess.
  12. Hello, I was under the impression that I do not not to re-activate BS if I un-install it and try to re-install it? The registry entry should still be there. I was getting ready to install BS2, so I uninstalled BS 1.2 and tried to re-install BS1.0. Now it's asking me to re-activate? Which kinda screwed me because i don't have any left. Just curious, how long before I can expect to get some more activations? My very sad cause I had the whole weekend booked for BS2 and now I can't do anything. :(
  13. Exactly.
  14. A smart pilot in a KA-50, hugging the ground and using trees and mountains to hide behind...I'm sure the A-10C will have more than enough trouble to find and destroy a KA-50. Bring it on pigs...I mean hogs. Edit - Might be a cool mission to create. A KA-50 must reach point A before a certain time. A-10C must find and destroy KA-50 before it reaches that point. Winner gets a free copy of DCS F/A-18C from ED. :-) :-)
  15. One thing I always see mentioned whenever ED released new information about upcoming products. They always state that things can change. So I don't expect things to always be the way they say it's going to be. It turns out that there was a LOT of work needed to get BS updated. Work = time & time = money. In a SimHQ thread, Wags said the new cockpit took 3 months of work! Work = Time = Money. And again, I want to thank ED for their hard work and efforts to give us an amazing product that will give us thousands of hours of entertainment.
  16. Amazing! It will make the new Georgian war come alive. I assume you made the campaign Wags? Dying to jump into it.
  17. This is exactly what I've been waiting for. I can't wait to load it up this weekend!
  18. The work on the new campaign alone probably took ... I don't know.... 50 hours? And it's new stuff. 50 hours work and we pay $20 bucks! It's a steal. Because honestly, I don't have time to create a huge campaign. I personally cannot wait to fly in a new campaign with improved AI! I was already getting shot down pretty regularly, now it's going to be even more of a challenge...cannot wait.
  19. Wow, sounds great.
  20. Sorry for my ignorance, but what is this 'EDGE' thing I've heard a few times in this thread?
  21. Wow! Great news! Just the AI updates are worth the $20 bucks for me. I was just starting to get back into BS and now ... a major upgrade! Thanks ED!
  22. I had 8GB, then upgraded to 16GB thinking RAM wont be cheap forever. Anyhow, I didn't notice any increase in performance, but I was able to run dozens of programs at the same time without any drop in performance. Well, with a little help from Sandy Bridge. I suggest SSD, or new CPU :-)
  23. DCS Blackshark is going to get some serious new life with the next patch, hopefully. The improved AI from the ground vehicles will add so much more life, realism, and challenge to fighting in the KA-50. Can't wait. Since we probably wont see a new module for another few years, the DCS BS update, along with DCS A10C, will tie me over.
  24. Sweet! Nice vids Ranger!
  25. heheheh Oh well, worth a try. Still happy with anything that goes fast. :-)
