Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Ciribob replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
TacView is disabled - the mega upload client was causing lag :( We may try a single TacView that'll upload every 3 hours to Dropbox again but we'll see how we go. If your mirage alignment is taking 10 minutes you're doing it wrong [emoji14] alignment is enforced, but you don't have to do full alignment or any (there's a backup compass). Up to you. :) Kill messages are in testing - so far no one as far as I can see welcomes them back but we'll see how we go. There have been no real changes to the server since the beta patch and we have seen it run fine (and reported by others to be fine) so hopefully with TacView stopped temporarily lag should be greatly reduced. No worries :) Not sure of the easiest way to test really, I guess side by recordings with Comms and a TacView? I've tested by simulating the values but I'd really appreciate any pilot input as I've just done it on gut feeling really as I can't find any hard numbers. I did used to work in radio transmissions for internet, and radios are really a black art. They never go where you'd expect! You can get some amazing unexpected reflections but simulating that is a step too far :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Unlikely - it just crashes your machine if you join though! :D It wasn't even a crash, the server hung which is much more annoying as I don't get a crash log or error to debug. It does occasionally happen and I think we just have to accept it as a fact of life until 2.5. it's still pretty stable generally :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -

Not intentional, I'll remove it. You won't be able to use it as no FC3 aircraft can start from the ground unfortunately. Thanks for letting me know :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -
As I said - literally this is implemented :) The transmission will get quieter out of line of sight to simulate the fact you're getting reflections or radio waves bent round the obstacle. I can't tell the thickness of the obstacle so it's assumed that any obstacle is impenetrable. Not a bad assumption as radio waves are not going to go through a mountain at the UHF and VHF frequencies :) The amount of signal loss may need tweaking, depending on how far off of line of sight you are you get it for longer or over a bigger degree of offset. There's a long post somewhere here explaining the implementation in more detail. If anyone wants to pitch in, or give me some exact details / algorithm of how much power is lost depending on how far off line of sight you are etc it would be greatly appreciated. Power loss over distance is implemented as well and that is based on the frequency of the transmission. Also a longer post back in this thread giving implementation and equation used It's open source for a reason :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

No worries :) Only other thing I can think of is the fact we hard restart the server every 3 hours. By hard restart I mean we quit dcs and it starts up again automatically Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

The line of sight feature will degrade, but the amount may well need tweaking Logic goes if no line of sight Check 20,40,60,80,100 meter offset from player position in height The offset check simulates Fresnel effect (bending of radio waves around object) so if you're just below the ridge you can hear, but if you're deep in it, you won't. Would love someone who's got some IRL radio experience to do a fly in and help tweak it at some point :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

If you ever have crashes with my scripts, PLEASE report them in the relevant thread as otherwise I just won't know that anything needs fixing. :) I've also got a bunch of scripts, so which ones are causing issues and what settings have you got in? I.e in CTLD, real sling loading or simulated? If you think it's a crash with a script, please try to replicate in a small mission as well, as otherwise tracking it down becomes impossible. CTLD generally doesn't "run" unless something happens via the radio menu. Are you seeing a crash linked to an action? Got your PM, I'll send over the server autoexec in a PM :) As you say, BlueFlag is actually running really well and uses CTLD extensively as it has done for years but I'll try to take a look. For reference BF CTLD uses simulated sling loads as the real sling loading can be very buggy and the real crates cannot be destroyed currently :( Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

For some it's fine, others not. It tried to inject and FPS counter into the radio window and causes a directx error. It will do this to any WPF based .net program as WPF uses directx under the hood. Usually if the radio fails to open, it's the culprit but of it works fine for you, as it does for others, that's great :) It's not consistent enough for me to recommend not using it either Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

If you'd like to get more on SRS, I'd add the autoconnect file to the server. :) Anyone joining that has the radio opened will be automatically connected. Anyone who opens the radio after joining and switches slots will be connected. Just take the DCS-SRS-AutoConnectGameGUI.lua from the download of SRS. No need to run installer, you just need literally one file and one edit to it :) Edit the SERVER_SRS_HOST line: SRSAuto.SERVER_SRS_HOST = "put your IP / address here" Putting in address or ip Copy that file in your server machine to saved games/dcs/scripts/hooks And games/dcs.openalpha/scripts/hooks And done. :) PM me or get me discord https://discord.gg/baw7g3t if you want any help Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Can you post full logs on Discord here? Also check sticky there for complete list of info to help debug. https://discord.gg/baw7g3t Quick things to try, make sure the server is also on the latest version and you've opened the two ports you need (used to be just one!) On the server machine Check you can hear yourself with preview audio to make sure audio input and output are configured correctly Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Map is reset Well done RED on such a great push to capture all the bases! Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -
Thank you very much for letting me know! Thats great to hear you're sorted  I think the bug you had is the weirdest bug I've ever seen - Even windows says there is audio... but there is none. Dammit Soundblaster! :D

Hi Wrench, Sorry for the slow reply. I've looked at the logs and googled around That error is "Unspecified media error" which isn't very helpful.... :( I cant see why it wouldnt work - the Channel count and Sample rate for both inputs are the same, and to all intents and purposes are the same! I have seen some weird issues with that headset before, it doesn't seem to like WASAPI, which is a newer audio output that I use. Most programs use WaveOut which is a bit older (from XP days and higher latency but sometimes has better driver support. As a weird test, i'd try changing the sample rate but unfortunately without a headset to test I can't debug further. If you get anywhere - or it randomly works, try getting me on the Discord here https://discord.gg/Hb7rYey

Nope - the Dropbox (its only 2GB) got filled in less than a day.... :( Try this link - https://mega.nz/#F!gGxSwTwJ!HSCNP-2ltGWfG0yXo24oXQ Testing out MegaUpload as they give 50GB for free -
Unless im misunderstanding - you can already use a GCI Radio - just hop into any slot thats not got an aircraft attached to it - JTAC, Game master etc (or more crazily, get a plane and crash into the ground) - hit the AWACS overlay button in SRS and you'll get 8 Radios you can use :) It is actually possible to run multiple radios in this mode with 2 tiny LUA changes allowing you to have a crazy number of radios if you wish! For having an uber admin that can listen in on both sides with Coalition security enabled - that would be much tricker and require a lot of work unfortunately so definitely wont be any time soon - if at all as it goes against the point of the Coalition security. Instead, you could just not turn on Coalition Radio security - set presets for Opposing sides that don't overlap and list channels for everyone else with something like this like we do for BlueFlag: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LYS-K2EBGBZ1RjD0UGUdOkAXJBGw3mmRQZ2cSsdbJao/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0 Ask people not to step into enemies channels but really I'm not sure how much you'll gain in the heat of the battle unless you get the enemy GCI to vector you somewhere! :D Or - only hand out frequencies in secret to each side. If you stumble across them from manual tuning, then you get some free Intel!

Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
Ciribob replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Yup from docs here https://github.com/ciribob/DCS-CTLD/blob/master/README.md#jtac-automatic-targeting-and-laser "You can also change the name of a unit* (unit, not group) to include "hpriority" to make it high priority for the JTAC, or "priority" to set it to be medium priority. JTAC's will prioritize targets within view by first marking hpriority targets, then priority targets, and finally all others." So as you say a unit name of: Sam hpriority #1 Sam hpriority #10 etc Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -

Looks like there was an issue with it - fixed now and all future flights will be saved for 2 days before deletion in this folder :) -

Ciribob replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Just add hpriority to more than one group, as long as the hpriority groups are in range, they'll be targeted first before the JTAC moves on to the unit closest to it which is the default behaviour :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -

Exports will stay off for various exploits however for now TacViews of all flights are available here: https://tinyurl.com/bf-nevada-tacview Ignore the fact it says Nevada in the link. Every flight by each user is saved and automatically uploaded after you finish your flight. :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk -
Yeah really I guess its as you say - best to spend 5 minutes setting it up once rather than a panic setup as a match is about to start. :) For the volume setup - the thing to hammer home is you MUST use the Preview Audio button to get your Mic Boost right. What a lot of people seem to do is drag that slider all the way up and go for it. I guess to solve this I need a first time user window that pops up and lists some common setup things that should be done and some advice of where things should be set to make it easier as I know the docs are a bit spread out. Really glad to hear you're committed to using it more! I'm going to post a longer post about this at some point but I'd really like to get as many servers as possible using this as its easy to run alongside a dedicated server. With Radio expansion turned on and one or two common frequencies set in the briefing it should be easy enough. If anyone ever has any issues - I'm happy to help on Discord here: https://discord.gg/Hb7rYey If im not around, just post issue and I'll reply when I'm free. Its just me that develops and supports so I can be a little slow to get back! Thanks again for trying it and running it for the event! Have a good new year. :)
