  1. Server has been updated to 1.5.7. The mission has been ghetto-ported to 1.5.7 too but because the steam client (where I have all my licence) has not been updated yet, I couldn't full test everything. Don't hesitate to report problems ; I ll try to fix them this week-end.
  2. I agree that some aircrafts are better equip than other to find targets and have better SA. That's why I am creating a CGI/Awacs system for the next Open conflict. Overwatch, the system name, will know about some OC concepts like I already talked about, like pure medics, pure transports, protected zones but will also try to blur a bit more the lines between predator and prey. Overwatch will give BRA calls with different precision on the principle that you get more precise information on your predators but less on your preys. For example, a mig21 pilot will be a predator for the attacker and will get less precise infos on them while getting more precision on modern fighters because they are predators for him. It's still in development and in testing but that's the general idea. Even if it's not the most realistic feature, I think it could be a nice feature to compensate the unrealistic facts that every eras and every roles are fighting the same conflict at the same time. As a side effect, your best asset in a strike mission will then be to bring a WWII plane with you because as a prey to all, he will have the best information :lol:
  3. I see a lot of assumptions here so I am going to explain some stuff and choices I made. OpenConflict: First off, it's very important to understand that I am trying to do my own server, not copy others or do a server that does everything. Also, I am trying to make a consistent and fun experience and yea, I started by stitching in different scripts... Then it quickly became difficult to implement my own OC concepts like protected zone, medics, rescues and have all this independent scripts know and handle these concepts well... ...so I created Skynet and do a more all in one handling. It's to get a more consistent and controlled experience that I did Skynet not for pride or something like that. CGI/AWACS: For the same reason, I want to include CGI/AWACS in the next Skynet (ReGenesis) because, for example, DCS' AWACS will still dispatch players to enemy protected zone to get rekt or 5 players in F15s to kill a MEDIC helicopter just because DCS Awacs doesn't know these OC concepts. Again... going for a more contained and consistent experience. LotATC: I checked very briefly LotATC but didnt want to invest money or time on it. I am doing OC solo ; I don't have unlimited time or money so I have to choose my battles. I am also wary of having different players having different OC experience depending on whether they bought or not the client. Combined Arms: If you go as far as my signature, you will get your answer. It's not about really about exploits as it is about being able to track what CA players are doing and make them responsible if they troll others. Without being able to implement a scripted police, servers will have their admins monitors the situation, handle troll and kick them. I didn't want to impose that on my admins and I didn't want to "lose" player slots to non flying aircrafts. In the future, if I manage to open more player slots, I may activate some CA and allow "trusted" players to join them at first but I will be honest, it's not my priority right now (again, choosing my battles) I hope this will clarify stuff.
  4. I don't think the current map requires more ways to finding targets or acquiring more situational awareness and that's already why the AWACS are flying so far from the conflict. The conflict zone is rather small and the landscape is not that much hilly so I don't feel like finding targets or having good SA is so hard that more assistance is required. On the contrary, OC used to have better AWACS coverage and it mainly helped fighters to kill lower threat targets such as transport helicopters. In the next Open Conflict, I plan to do a bigger map and have some kind of Fog Of War so having a more meaningful CGI system is in the work. However, it will also be designed to give better information to weaker aircrafts to blur a bit more the line between who is the predator and who is the prey.
  5. Thanks for the feedback ; I appreciate it. Design wise, the fox3 and such should just be available in limited quantity on forward airports so Sochi for red and Kras + Gel for blue. This is intended so that you can't spawn and directly get these weapons and maybe more try to come back alive and land on a forward airport. It's not a perfect solution but it decreases a bit the airquake. The exception to the rule is the MiG29 that is lower range that other fighters and has some playable slots on the forward airports so red Mig29 at Sochi and blue Mig29 at Kras should have access to R77 on spawn. Also, to be noted that the warehouse system (to limit what an airport has in stock) is an old feature with which I found a lot of problems and I am still trying to fix some. It's temporary solution that I don't want to use in the next Open Conflict.
  6. Yea seeing everything with perfect vision and accuracy on F10 map and using this godly information to guide interceptors is closer to cheating than proper CGI :)

  9. It's not intended and seems to be a DCS bug, I am trying to reach out to them to know what's going on. Sadly, airfield equipment are not set in the mission ; they come with the map. Yea... I don't know what you mean. Don't hesitate to add more detailed to your requests ; even if I host this server, I am far from being an encyclopedia on every aircrafts details or features :) It's by design. I don't put dangerous fighter spawns on the most forward airports to give breathing room to non fighter aircrafts to do their business. It also encourages fighter pilots to care about their life by adding the extra death penalty of coming back in the conflict zone. Problem is the fight for air superiority phase is constantly happening at the same time as the ground attack phase which is not really how wars are supposed to go so I have to artificially create gameplay space for both phases. I am working on a 2 battlefronts idea but it's still just a idea in my mind :)

  11. A weather complain ; it's been long :) "Constantly" ? Last weather was overcast and it's been like 2 weeks :music_whistling: But yea I try to change weather each map update but I have limited control over the sun trajectory because of DCS, earth and reality. The server also offers 2 sides to offer some diversity ; don't hesitate to be red :) I know it can seem that the weather you dislike is here constantly here and there is some kind of conspiracy against the weather you like but I am trying to change it regularly while keeping it flyable by all aircraft (so I can't go full night for ex). Spoiler alert: next weather will be inspired by Cosmic proposal and will be sunset, overcast and overly foggy :pilotfly: And to finish, for those relatively new to the server, here is a dramatization of the PMs and posts I get about weather and why I will never win: :megalol: When it's sunrise: "Why do Blues have to always fly with the sun in their eyes?   12. Me too but it needs to be fair for everyone. Cosmic proposed to have ETs and Fox3 in limited quantity on the forward airports where you dont spawn. It could be a nice thing to try and this extra effort to get more advanced weapons could be something available for everyone. Bonus: if you don't die and bring your planes to this airport, you can get this weapons if some are remaining.

  15. Another mean MiG15 spam-gunning an innocent Su27 MEDIC... That's just wrong :cry: I guess next update the MiG15 guns will get a 50% less critical chance and Su27 health will be bumped by another 20%. It's not easy to balance World of Aircraft :)

I don't want the server to be Mirage Conflict if you know what I mean. I am trying to ship a new update soon but the heat wave is killing me :) I couldn't find your logs on the server ; what ingame name are you using? DCS names for mirage weapons are confusing and I think it's because there are several version of the mirage in DCS for AIs and Players. But I can change the Display Name in Skynet ; the problem is to identify what DCS is sending me. This what Skynet is using for the mirage. I don't mind to change the display names but I sometimes have trouble understanding DCS code names I receive. Sometimes, if the server crashes (which happens with dCS :)), you have to wait a bit for my tool to detect it and relaunch it. I don't see explicit logs about Skynet destroying your missiles so I don't think it came from there. Even so, when Skynet destroy a weapon ; you see an explosion and have a warning message popup saying why the missile is destroyed.
  17. It's been long since I tried but last time, it was not possible to put playable slots in group. Just one per group. I will retest this and see if anything changed in dcs.
  18. It's an online game so nothing is forever :) I have found and been proposed better solutions but they might take a new map, more skynet or dcs features.

  21. Connecting without a username I usually deal with these requests in PMs but this can be be useful for everyone one. So first, no, you are not banned :) Another thing is that Skynet, my masterscript, is referencing you with your UCID (Unique Client ID) meaning changing name doesn't change who you are for Skynet. Now, for your problem :) Sometimes, when you just install/reinstall DCS, your multiplayer username will not be setup right and you will connect to the server with an empty name. When that happens, Skynet is rejecting your connection like a big jerk because it doesn't want to deal with empty names. Changing or retyping your username in the MP lobby will fix this. Also, to the defense of Skynet, the denial of connection comes with an explanation (in green) that sadly, sometimes, DCS doesn't display to you guys. :) Sorry for the inconvenience.   23. Pain Test Cobayes On an unrelated notes, I am going to need like 1 or 2 good helicopter pilots that know and are able to use the DCS cargo system for some ReGenesis tests ; hopefully on sunday. In addition to testing what kind of hooks I have script-wise for the cargo system, I will also be testing some admin features like banning, kicking, sending to spectator... Having patience, speaking English or French and having some kind of voice software are all pluses :)

Unconfortable FAQ Hello guys, So it seems like my posting of the server computer photo sparked some PMs about my least favorite subject: money :helpsmilie: After discussing a lot with people in PMs and basically having the same conversation, I thought I would do a kind of FAQ about the subject even if I don't like it. Q: Why should I donate? To support the server hosting as well as the development of Skynet, the masterscript behind OC, the current map and the creation of the next content. The donations are here to support the current server and the work I do behind the scene. The donations help to go toward more slots (from 20 to 30 recently) but they also help me maintain it when something break down (so far 1 hard drive, 2 video cards) and also help me grow the server for everyone. Ideally, with enough and regular donations, I could switch to hosting the server in the clouds next to the God of Vodka :). Finally, donations also helps me buy DCS modules I wouldn't have bought but that really helped me develop content for particular aircrafts (for example the UH1 for the rescue / deliver systems). Q: Are you doing rewards and stuff à-la Patreon like contributor-only slots? Not for now. I understand people that want something extra as a reward for contributing. However, I am not sure I want to go this way and start tracking who is giving how much and how often. It would take a lot of time to track all these data ; time better spent on the actual server work - at least for now. Still, it's something I will consider in the future and maybe that I will make easier in the implementation of the next Skynet I am working on. On a more personal note, I am not sure how far I want to go with this ; it's just a hobby for me. Q: Why isn't the server hosted on a server farm somewhere in the cloud? Because it's expensive :) However, I would like to go this way at some point and any information on this is welcomed. Q: Have you thought about making the server private with a paid entry? Nope, I want the server to be public for everyone to enjoy the game even if it gets crowded sometimes. Q: Don't you think that a bigger / more stable / more <anything> server, would get you more donations? To some extents. First of all, I don't want my work on the server to be driven by getting more donations or I would have quit by now :) I would like to host a bigger server for more people but it needs to stay a hobby for me. Secondly, I've received so many PMs saying, "if you do this, you would get more donations" ranging from "if you had more slots" to "if you put more fuel in my fighters" with a special mention to "if you put less rain". I just can't try to satisfy everyone even if I would like to satisfy more people. The server is good / stable / big / fun enough for many people to clock 500+ hours on it and still, of this, very few donations are generated. DCS being a free to play game, I just think the donation model is just harder to be successful. And this is ok, I don't do this for the money even if, like many, I would like the server to grow. But yea, the fact remains, the more donations OC receives, the more it can grow! Q: What about a sponsor? I tried ED but it didn't work :) DCS is a niche game but yea, finding a sponsor could be nice.
