  1. Yeah... i understand that and use it all the time. What I mean is... DURING a mission being able to make a new diamond.
  2. What I mean is, is there a way for me to make a "MARK" in the inertial navigation system? It can be hard to find a target at night, and when I do I might lose it before I can bring weapons to bear. Be nice to be able to make another pass on it.
  3. Might have to wait for Christmas vacation... Fall semester coming up soon. Back to teaching the kids.
  4. :pilotfly: WOW! It's amazing how good Flanker-drivers have it in terms of trim and landing and acceleration. You don't realize it until you go without it! I felt as if I had gone from being a truck-driver to being the Lord thy God. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how accurate the flight model is for the Su-27 compared to the Su-25? I assume that the T-toad is more accurate. I flew the Su-27 when it was an ISS game, then Flanker 2.0, then now. How has the flight model changed over the years. "Tell me a story grandpa!"
  5. You can always blow the canopy off like my HOTAS did!!!!:megalol: You'll get a lot of bugs in your teeth but your visibility will be great!
  6. What a powerful SEAD platform! I decided to go up against Su-25T mission #3. Simple but I had no idea how much fun it is to finally SHOOT BACK against damned SAMs! Ahh! The joy of being able to take those jerks out! You can pack this plane with serious shit to knock them out. I was able to take out almost all of the Tors but the great thing about today was being able to use the optics to take out the parked aircraft with the laser-guided Kh-25s. Wow! Enough ordnance to take out a battery of SAM protection AND then have enough weapons left to give the secondary targets a serious thrashing! Now that my HOTAS is working A-ok and that I am using my rudders a lot more (was afraid to do so originall for fear of losing control) I see how you gentlemen feel that she can maneuver enough for fights against SAMs. I never thought I'd ever say this but I think landing can be tougher than handling SAMs. If any of you guys ever are nice enough to take me onto your team in multiplayer, put me on SEAD duty or air to air. I appear to be pretty damn good at both.
  7. Actually... if your joystick is burning you might want to tell the girl you slept with last night. :megalol:
  8. AHH!! Nice! Does the bloom mod nuke your framerates?
  9. I did 3 yesterday before the Cougar snafu! 3 shots aren't hard! You just have to have a VERY fast finger on your cursor-mover and time your shots. Actually, I think that having this crazy thing with my controls made me a BETTER pilot! I'm ready for ANYTHING to happen now. Although my blood pressure is off the scale! Hey... anyone know if there is an indicator that the IR jammer is... well.... ON???
  10. It all depends on how you use it and how big it is.
  11. Oh lord... Look... didn't mean to start the flames.
  12. 1. The problem is confirmed. It WAS the HOTAS. 2. Did not mean to disrespect the T-toad out of term. Now that I KNOW it's not the physics of the model I take back what I said. I thought that all of these control issues were due to the flight model. They obviously were not. I say WERE because they appear to be fixed... for the moment. I was speaking to a few experts at the Cougar forum and they suspect that I have a short inside. An engineer from Georgia Teach was about to talk me through isolating the problem. I tape my stick to my flight chair as a center stick. I cut the tape off and turned the unit over. Before I opened it up I decided to test it through the keytester one more time. ALL THE GARBAGE KEYS BEING SENT TO THE PC WERE SILENT!!!! It's like some kind of miracle! I loaded up Su-25T mission #1 (not in the campaign, the singles) against the bridges and she was ROCK STEADY!!!! Fully weighted she flew like a champ!!! Once again, did not mean to "dis" the jet. Actually thought it was THAT difficult to fly. Get this... apparently one of the random commands being sent to the PC was the time accelerating command!!! So I was even trying to fly in a DIFFERENT SPACE TIME CONTINUUM!!!!!! :joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick:
  13. I think I know what the problem is! My HOTAS Cougar is turning it's toes up and dying on me! Great! No WONDER the plane is uncontrollable!
  14. Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try. Do you use flaps when you turn?
  15. Okay... the Su-25T is insane. 1. Nothing crashes you better than the insane autopilot modes. The "combat" mode is great for the other side seeing how it cannot keep altitude. They are the most user unfriendly systems on the aircraft. 2. Seeing how useless the combat mode is I thought I try radar altimeter autopilot mode to make a stable platform just to FIND my target. Yeah right! The thing pitches you so high you lose your target in the TV viewer... even with ground stabilization mode. 3. There is some kind of incompatibility with the HOTAS Cougar. I've never seen so many malfunctions, mis-keys or crashes than with this combination. 4. The aircraft is SO overloaded and such a fuel guzzler that it's a hazard to fly. Yeah, that's right, I actually said it was HAZARDOUS to fly. To me it's out of safety limits for human flying. The turn radius is insanely wide. It's horrendous! How can you evade missiles or gunfire? It's like trying to con an aircraft carrier in the sky! Don't tell me that I've overloaded it with fuel or weapons... I strip virtually everything off of it but the weapons I need and the fuel I need. Have you ever practically crashed on TAKEOFF in any other aircraft?! It's THAT unstable that you can lose control of it with ZERO wind ON TAKEOFF!!!!! W T F?! 5. Let's talk about how switching off an autopilot mode leaves you careening into the ground. This is because you inherit the trim settings from when it was on. Ever try hitting the reset trim key? Doesn't help at all doesn't it? Nice! I'm actually considering just forgetting FC Su-25T this morning. It's just NOT FUN! Ahhhh... feel much better. Sorry to be the AVGN this morning but this aircraft is shockingly bad.
  16. Yes Sir! All Baranovich's words are all yours! Thanks!
  17. I used the ILS dude. Did you see the circles in the Hud?
  18. Oi... here I am this morning landing without autopilot assistance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxgZrEQ77hM Mind doing a critique? No sound here just line up and landing.
  19. And I thought it was another one of my weird HOTAS problems!
  20. Day two was... interesting. I have the Cougar HOTAS which makes life a whole lot easier with sims. I think it might be starting to show its age. I had some weird problems with it today. It's sending random commands at times. For example... 1. Firing circuit for the trigger command was all fouled up on the range today. Sometimes my S8s fired other times... nothing. Sometimes they would fire AFTER my turn-away from the target - wasted ordnance. 2. Somehow the "G" and the "P" command was sent to the sim before touchdown. I had my gear down on final when all of a sudden they went up. I skid down the runway flaming all the way. The second time because somehow the P command had taken place my chute was shredded and I careened into an orchard at the end of the runway. Once again.. decent landing ruined by my HOTAS. Remember when posted the movie on the worst sim-fliying day of my life and the canopy blasted off? I traced it to my HOTAS. I'm working on isolating the problem. Does the Su-25T slowly roll to the left normally? I think for some reason my HOTAS is out of calibration too. I fixed the firing circuit (a DX problem) and plan to give it all another go tomorrow.
  21. Yes! EXACTLY! That's what I mean. The mountainous terrain makes landing the Su-25 here very difficult on the ILS so you can't use it. Sorry for the confusion.
  22. ESac I love your Clint Eastwood flash! Request permission to use it. Firefox is one of my favorite movies and books. Have you read the Sequel?
  23. There is one in the mountains that is isolated that does not have ILS. It's featured in Ironhand's tutorials.
  24. My first impression. It feels like flying a shopping cart with a wobbly wheel full of bombs while wearing a football helmet.... and I LIKE IT  I picked a random airbase to just make a familiarization flight and got to it. Nearly ran off the runway on takeoff. The tricycle landing gear is placed closely together I see. This should make cross-wind landings... um... fun. Landing for the first time... well... let's just say that I'm not dead. My random airbase did not have an ILS so I had to land by eye my first time. Kept speed close to 240 and was flying with full fuel but no weaps. Was used to the drooping nose of the flanker so when I put the front wheel down I gave it way too much pressure. Didn't know this at first. I was wondering what the heck the vibration was as I taxied until I noticed on F2 view that my front tire had blown. How cool is that?! They really did do a great damage model!!! :pilotfly:
  25. Keep low. Be patient and watch the RWR. It wasn't as easy as the flankertraining.com video. My escorts fought back. I defied convention (what I'm good at) and took my wingman with me. Much easier that way for me. Just make damn sure you keep on telling him to return to formation. No one followed me home.
