  1. ESac I love your Clint Eastwood flash! Request permission to use it. Firefox is one of my favorite movies and books. Have you read the Sequel?
  2. There is one in the mountains that is isolated that does not have ILS. It's featured in Ironhand's tutorials.
  3. My first impression. It feels like flying a shopping cart with a wobbly wheel full of bombs while wearing a football helmet.... and I LIKE IT  I picked a random airbase to just make a familiarization flight and got to it. Nearly ran off the runway on takeoff. The tricycle landing gear is placed closely together I see. This should make cross-wind landings... um... fun. Landing for the first time... well... let's just say that I'm not dead. My random airbase did not have an ILS so I had to land by eye my first time. Kept speed close to 240 and was flying with full fuel but no weaps. Was used to the drooping nose of the flanker so when I put the front wheel down I gave it way too much pressure. Didn't know this at first. I was wondering what the heck the vibration was as I taxied until I noticed on F2 view that my front tire had blown. How cool is that?! They really did do a great damage model!!! :pilotfly:
  4. Keep low. Be patient and watch the RWR. It wasn't as easy as the flankertraining.com video. My escorts fought back. I defied convention (what I'm good at) and took my wingman with me. Much easier that way for me. Just make damn sure you keep on telling him to return to formation. No one followed me home.
  5. I know its a small milestone but.. I DID IT. I see completing all the stock missions and then the campaign for the flanker as... well.... a kind of mini-graduation. The first missions were damn tough and the learning curve is sharp but once you get the hang of the flight characteristics and practice its simply addictive. I'm right in that there are only 6 missions in the flanker campaign right? I finished the 6th mission escorting the ship-killers by cutting across land to... well... flank the defenders. I popped out on the shore-line right into two helicopters. Popped them. Went on to join the firefight. Wingman didn't make it but it came down to a face to face shootout between me and an F-16. Thanks to what I learned from you guys about the VS mode I got the first shot off but be quickly followed with an AIM-9. He went down. I though I was joining him but them I quickly noticed that despite my avionics being out my bird was responding! Hydraulics were leaking but I had both engines. I used the compass to get me home and landed my crippled bird using only visual cues. Wooo hoo!!! Now I'm off to learn the Su-25T and play user-created missions and campaigns for the Flanker.
  6. Bon Jovi Rocks! Bring on next week's A-10 vid!
  7. Yeah, I bought a new system at the beginning of the year and purposefully designed it so that I could easily upgrade my CPU later. Have a dual-core now but my motherboard is ready for a quad-core later. Which... the way this sim works probably would have no effect but maybe Black Shark will be designed to better utilize the technology.
  8. What size CPU do you rec?
  9. Best I can put out without Sony Vegas. All I've got is MS Movie Maker.
  10. Some Mig-23s need help from some Flankers and Fulcrums flying CAP with some Su-25s that squeek through. An Artsy look at air combat maneuvering dedicated to the former VVS and PVO. Don't pick it apart for it's realism... rather... look at it from an artistic view.:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isakD9YOtqk&fmt=18
  11. The advice most surely helped! Thanks to all you teachers out there! I'm a pesky student. :smartass: Hope all the questions aren't boring you all. There's a great community here. It will take time but I want you schoolmasters to be proud of me.
  12. Great! I'm doing it right then!
  13. whoops! somehow got a duplicate post! sorry moderators!!!!
  14. Yeah man. I hope you don't mind. I'll delete it if you do. I was ready to quit when I saw your post and it reinvigorated me. Decided to pay homage to you.
  15. The problem with this scenario is that the Hawk battery has 12 missiles and drives me down to the deck to get close enough to the F-16s. Because of their altitude they can lob missiles at me all day and stand off. If I stay high I'll be shot at all day by the Hawks. Normally I just say HEY... stand off and let the launcher waste his missiles then go in and engage when he's expended but the bastard has 12 missiles.
  16. Okay... situation: 2 F-16s in the distance. Two Flankers in my group. I have both Semi and active radar missiles. All have jammers. As I approach is there any way to tell which bandit is the one leading and which one is in tail?
  17. Thanks D-.... I'll keep that in mind. :) What I was thinking.
  18. If approaching two jamming radar contacts, if I slew my radar cursor over one, lock it, tell me wingman to attack, then do the exact same procedure with the second contact will he attack them in order? I thought I heard Ironhand say that the AI logic would do so. Now... whether the AI wingman will HIT them is another question. LOL!:smilewink:
  19. I want to find out where he lives and STOMP him. He's obviously got a drinking problem. I noticed that the A-50 can't detect F-16s. It's like they are stealth. Must have been from great range in Su-27 Campaign mission 2. I wasn't fooled. I took my time and developed the situation. I listened to you sniper pilots out there and had my formation wide. Very nice. I like to take on the F-16's lead fighter (not the leader). I know I know... many of you would tell me that it goes against wisdom but for some reason it works best for me. I have my wingman take out the flight lead. I'm getting really good at dodging Aim-120s. You all are right... at low altitude you can fool them and make them draggy. I don't see how you can do S-turns while still approaching your target though... something i need to keep working on. I took out the #2 man and my wingman got #1, Now... we're on our way to nail that C-130. I could see his fat radar cross section in my radar scope for miles away. Wait.... no way... can't be just out there by himself! The F-16s were probably there to screen me or take down the frogfoots? Just to be safe I didn't activate my radar. I was going to go for a stealth attack using just the IRST. I was lit up by the escorts on radar so I felt it was time to return the favor. I was hoping that whatever they were they we're 4th generation aircraft. (later I found out they were Tigersharks... BWA HA HA HA!). Had my wingman launch at one escort. I fired my R-27 and turned away in case they were pissed. Next thing I see is a huge explosion and a massive smoke trail. WAAAAY too big for fighters. I KNOW there are at least 2 more fighters out there so I turn back in, illuminate the area, pick out a fighter (no jamming!!! easy!!!!) let loose my last R-27ER. BANG! My wingman gets the last bloke. Whooo hooo!!! Not bad. Oh crap... not much fuel. Hmmm... I send my wingman home. We're down to 2500 kilos!!! I call AWACS and GCI and ask for nearest home plate. Well... they give me the nearest AIRFIELD but unfortunately... it's ENEMY!!!!! So... here I am on fumes thinking "Gee... how nice of those GCI chaps to help me out." The next thing I know the RWR is chirping away AHEAD of me!!! I ask AWACS to declare the target... silence. SHIT! It all hits me and I run like hell. I died after dodging between the mountains. Put up a hell of a fight. I'm learning really fast! The sim is tough but I LIKE a challenge!:smartass: Just wanted you guys to know that I'm sucking less and less. LOL!:pilotfly:
  20. The loading screen will complete and right when the cockpit is supposed to come up I get a black screen and a CTD. I REALLY don't want to reinstall everything. Any tips or tricks?:joystick:
  21. IT HAPPENED TWICE AT THE SAME TIME DURING THE SCENARIO!!! The good news is NOOB Cobrabase beat it! Believe it or not, I beat the mission the first time I played it but DIDN'T SAVE IT! Moron. Then I beat it but the canopy blew off and all hell broke loose. THEN this afternoon I beat it but the SIM FROZE! This evening its DONE! Whooo hooo!
  22. Yup... worst simming day of my life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pdNcKwNnkg
  23. Thanks guys: A. I will change tactics by practice and..... B. I've modified my cougar HOTAS for full antenna control. Now I can quickly change scan zones. I tried it today and, while it is still tricky at times, it's MUCH EASIER to find the bastards. C. I'm going to load in CAC and vertical scan mode into my HOTAS so that I can instantly switch when I get that "sinking feeling." One question... when getting close to infrared-missile range anyone hit the "O" key and told the IRST to start searching? Is this a decent tactic?
