+1! That was great! I love hearing the F-14 was able to take on F-16s, really boosts my spirits for the DCS release. Frisco1522

The best book ever written.....for Aviators.

Nice! :book: Frisco1522 -
Try this... https://publicintelligence.net/u-s-navy-natops-f-14-tomcat-flight-manuals/ Its the same thing, but from a different website that doesn't make you sign in to anything. Download the one that says "01−F14AAD−1." They got their labels backwards for the 2 of these but the 1037 page is the one you want for the F-14B Frisco1522

I like your style! Frisco1522

Having a second person in the back seat is whats going to really make the F-14 shine, not by having 120s Frisco1522 -

Well, Leatherneck sure picked a good enough plane. Everyone wants this thing! Frisco1522 -
Would be the best thing in DCS ever. Frisco1522

Oh boy I can't wait! It's gotta be getting close! Keep up the amazing work leatherneck!:smilewink: Frisco1522

Gaaaaaaahhhh!! So close! I'm going to the Rockford air show to see their F-22, but I really wish they had a tomcat. Having both at an air show would be amazing to see. Frisco1522

I know right? Frisco1522

Danger Zone is in GTA V... Probably worse to have it in that than for this. Frisco1522

Almost none of my friends want to play DCS because they don't have joysticks. :( But with the RIO spot, in theory, they wont need a joystick! My sales pitch to them is that DCS if free and if they just get the F-14, we can fly together even if they don't have a joystick. :joystick: But I probably still want them to get TrackIR. :music_whistling: Frisco1522

Gone for 2 days and so many new stories. :book: Thank you all! I'm very excited to be flying with all of you some day. :pilotfly: If anyone else wants to add in, go for it! Frisco1522

There is a great documentary about the making of Top Gun on YouTube. In one of the episodes they talk about how Don Simpson had a phrase that everyone hated. "Mom and Pop in Oklahoma," meaning that it didn't matter if stuff in the movie wasn't accurate, to Mom and Pop in Oklahoma, it will look awesome. Frisco1522

A local movie theater was having "retro night" a few years ago and they played Top Gun. Only once, only one day. Place was sold out inside of 20 mins. To see the afterburner scene on a modern screen with bass that almost made the wall paneling come off, was astonishing. Frisco1522

Might as well be my story too. Frisco1522

Yeah I used to play a little bit of Comanche Gold back in my day. Never really understood what was going on except on one mission, Cold Warriors. I used to play a game that I cannot find or remember the name of, but it was Jane's something. I remember setting up giant battles in a mission editor and watching everything unfold. Frisco1522

That's awesome! Can you take pictures of what it looks like on the inside, or would you have to kill me first? Of course its a french comic book about US Navy F-14 pilots. (George H. W. Bush included) Thanks for bringing up the Final Countdown, everyone overlooks the F-14's role in that movie, which was actually pretty good. (Until Top Gun came along) Had a lot more bare shots of the cat, no music playing or anything. That cinema is great! Would be great if we had a full realism DCS to have someone like you on AWACS with a screen like that.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother Alicat. Very interesting story. Spot on description of the ol' Tomcat. I bet watching Top Gun with all your buddies in your home cinema must have been a proud moment for you. It's hard not to love the teen aircraft isn't it? There's just something about them, like captain_dalan said... I'm really hoping there is a lot of stuff to do in the backseat for my friends to keep busy. And letting them have such great visibility really demands teamwork.
-
Nicely done captain_dalan for being first! Keep the stories coming and feel free to add your own thoughts besides the five I could come up with. Stories like these are fascinating reads for me and I'm sure others too. :book: Frisco1522
