  1. The A-1 was pretty easy to take off with a catapult, even without any flaps or with a weight over the MTOW of land based Skyraiders.
  2. Thanks, we appreciate your thoughts deeply.
  3. In every other modules, when using the keyboard for the stick, pushing Left or Right will slowly move the stick left or right accordingly. Releasing the key will bring back the stick to the center position. With the Mirage, the stick will hold the position it's at and not go back to the center position. Could it be possible to change that and make it behave like all the other modules ? (Yes, I know it's a sim, and using the keyboard to fly is moot, but still, it would be great if the modules were all working in the same way, which is why I'm bringing this up)
  4. It's not a HoggitDev project. Right now it's a solo project, but it might change, and other people might join up as the project progresses. I get what you're saying by releasing it as an AI, and, if the project were to fail, I'll make sure to release what I have as an AI. Hopefully it does come to this and we'll all get to sit in the cockpit of the Skyraider :) And thanks for the kind words everybody!
  5. Hi all, just a quick update for you. I had a lot of personnal matters to attend to this month, so I don't have much to show for. I've been mostly working on the animations (but I can't show them yet). However I can show you the placeholder textures in game: I also got in contact with a couple of former or actual Skyraider pilots that are willing to help me. No doubt their advices will really help in the making of this aircraft for DCS. Hopefully with personnal stuff out of the way I'll be able to dedicate more time to the Skyraider. That's all for now, stay tuned for more later.
  6. Sure thing ! Don't expect a lot of updates very close together. Creating an aircraft for DCS is a looooooong process, so if I don't show something every month or so, that's normal :)
  7. No, not yet. At least not enough things that can be shown.
  8. Something like that :
  9. The Skyraider pictured above is an AD4N (with an AD6 livery) The AD4N is a 2 seater, with an avionics operator sitting in the back. (You can notice the missing dive brakes replaced by the access door) The AD6 (aka A-1H) is a single seater :
  10. Don't worry, I have plenty of reference pictures on how dirty the Skyraider is. As I said, these textures are just the first batch, they're far from satisfactory, and were more to give a quick update on the project.
  11. And here they are : It's a very early draft. I'm not happy at all with the smoke lines and will change these later on.
  12. AI could use those, but not the player.
  13. First textures are coming along nicely, be patient :)
  14. It's not the last day of the month yet :)
  15. Good eye, it's indeed a refuelling pod. If possible, I'd like buddy buddy refuelling to be a thing, but I've got no idea if it will be possible within DCS. The F/A-18C developpement could bring new things that weren't possible in DCS before, so fingers crossed. And yes, it will be carrier capable.
  16. Thanks for all your supports guys!
  17. Maybe later down the road, but it's not a priority.
  18. Of course, that wouldn't be a Skyraider without a trusty toilet bomb :)
  19. The A-4E will be available for free :smilewink:
  20. That's the end goal yes.
  21. Thanks for all your support ! Also, for those that wondered, yes, it will have one of these.
  22. Hello everyone. As some of you might know, I've been working on modding in DCS for a while now. I'm also a member of the hoggitDev team, with whom we're working on bringing the A-4E to DCS. You can check out our work here. I can also tell you that this month's update is going to be a big one! I'm happy to announce that I am now also working on a fully functionnal Douglas A-1H Skyraider. The A-1 Skyraider (originally named AD-1) is a prop driven, carrier based, attack aircraft. It's propelled by the 18 cylinder R3350 engine, the biggest piston engine ever mounted on a single engine aircraft. The Skyraider is fitted with 15 hardpoints to carry its payload. It could actually carry a bigger bomb load than a B-17! But its payload wasn't limited to bombs, it also included rocket pods, gun pods, cluster bomb dispensers, flare dispensers, nuclear bombs, fuel tanks, refuelling pods, etc... There was a saying that if something was used by the US Navy, it has been carried by a Skyraider at some point. The aircraft is also fitted with four 20mm cannons and a total of 800 rounds. With its impressive capability and its historical use, I think that the A-1 will fit perfectly within DCS, especially for the Korea and Vietnam wars era. This particullar model will be an A-1H (AD-6), which was build at 700+ units. It was used both by the US Navy, the USAF and the VNAF. I'm aiming for late 60s / early 70s avionics, which was roughly the period of the transition of the aircraft between the 3 listed corps. Features will include : -Highly detailled aircraft model, including both the exterior and interior of the aircraft. -Highly detailled damage model. -Highly detailled cockpit model. -Clickable 6 DOF cockpit and accurately simulated instruments and avionics. -Accurate flight model, including the flight behaviour of the aircraft and its R-3350-26WB engine. -Accurate weapon load. Textures are coming along nicely and should be ready soon. I'll post more once they're done. If you want to find out more about the aircraft, here's the wikipedia page. If you want to help me out in my project, please send me a PM. Note that this project is not related to HoggitDev in any way. HoggitDev is still fully dedicated to the A-4E.
  23. That's the million dollar question! :) There's "fire bombs" in DCS code but they don't seem to be working right now. We're looking for a workaround.
