  1. Not sure its a bug most probably my noobish behavior but i watched tutorials i just can't anymore.. i need special kind of help, i need forum help, i am putting my track here, anyway long story short i cant ACL my tomcat, i tried and tried and oh, i can't get past the ACL ready stage, my gear is down, flaps, hook, i do the datalink with the carrier-in the track its forrestal but i tried with stennis same thing, also, i do tacan my plane to the carrier, i align the rotary button on TDI to show 346 degrees-heading of the carrier, and also put my hud and other VDI on ACL setting, i put my throttle on auto-throttle as soon as i can-usually when gears, flaps, hook engaged, and set my autopilot for ACL and AP ON, .. then the disrepencies come to life, on my TDI the line is not aligned anymore, if my hud is telling me i have to turn right to get my alignment my tdi is saying opposite?!!? when lights do come on the console for AP to engage and take control i get to ACL READY, next stage that is needed is the one i can engage with by pressing the auto-ref button-nosewheel steering etc. but i cant get to that stage.. what gives ACL tomcat fail.trk
  2. reporting success, added folder to exclusion from windows defender, then deleted the quaranteed file, run repair of f14, asked me what to do with some useless f14 folder that is empty, i said delete, ended the repair without any errors etc.. run the dcs launcher and voila.. it works.. hope others same luck.. i got my tomcat back..ufff what a tiring night. instead of carrier landings and refueling i was forum and windows defender trimming.. ))
  3. do i need to exclude the whole folder where dcs is.. also what next, do i delete the quaranteed file of f14 and repair the f14 or restore it-aka release it back to where it was?
  4. how to exclude windows defender from touching dcs? i used to have kaspersky, and now i didn't extend and am only back to windows defender and voila.. but this can't be the reason surely?
  5. too tired to bother search the manual for a very specific quesiton, if u guys know it please let me know.. so i'm learning to drop J82s.. so far soo good, turn AG mode, turn weapon free, enable j82, set the fuse, turn tpod, hit TDC, designate target, start clicking T00, and here is my test, i do let say 4 targets, 1,2,3,4, after you need to disable and enable j82 again by deselect and select to then go to designate which targets bombs will hit, so i click 1,2,3,4.. and there you go, i drop the bombs, i hit nice.. i go 10 miles out, return, try to engage 2 different targets i can't..bombs miss.. i read about undesignate button, but it seems to do nothing, do i need to engage new targets under a T00 with a 5,6 .. or can i overwrite the previous ones and just add a new 1, 2? tried both it doesn't work ive tried everything, how to undesignate target .. u need to be in proper mode for the button undesignate, change FOV, NSW to work.. what mode? i'm in AG mode..is there a special J82 mode i need to be aware?
  6. so, we can pretend USAF landing in Tbilisi or Russian Maykop or Sochi airfield has ILS, but vice versa impossible.. on other note, this 1970 tech froggie has ILS ability to land so what now.. this seems unnecessary from DCS part, .. so in this case we can't even mod the airfields to have ils support.. or its only for Russian planes we can't do that? it all comes together when we see RED force unrepresented...oh wait, i will hear Russian government is preventing airfields in DCS to have ILS)))))
  7. what i was refering is that there is no way that today RF military airfields are not equiped with this, GPS guided bombs, cruise missiles, drones, ok, but ILS.. get out of here.. too advanced, next! .. i don't feel this is.. realistic ..is that it*?
  8. i dont get it, this is very high tech, only 4 airfields can be equiped to accept military planes that are russian and airfields are military.. is this one of the dcs stupid ideas or real life.. so basically if fog comes all planes have to divert to moscow i guess..
  9. which 4 airfields.. i mean i'm landing on russian airfields.. lol.. it used to have this option but now what.. you can land only in moscow i guess
  10. Ok, so i tried following waypoints and HSI is great, all ok, but as far as i recall the key "1" on keyboard changes the modes of navigation, from waypoint, to return mode etc.. as far as i remember there should be landing mode, which is the one that enables ILS, and i get nothing, i can get to the airfield but i cant get the ils glidepath help active*
  11. Which plane can use it, it obviously exists, a cluster ammunition with precise guided submunition for anti tank destruction in mind, yet in dcs no plane can carry it but its available in encyclopedia.
  12. Ok so i tried a mission, you can help me out here as I'm at a loss. Mission: Night attack with mi24, Support mission: illumination of area position with artillery (can't be done so you have to script it), or send plane on a mission to drop illumination ordnance. Enemy patrol closing in, this making GCI to redirect intercept flight and alerting Hind away, in my chopper more sense to hover in cover, while GCI dispatch interception flight.. After successful interception alert friendly units to recommit. Is it possible to make plane dropping candles to drop only 2 every 10 minutes for max time of light
  13. I used default sead, for ka50 i used ground attack, regardlees they fly like moths to fire.. brainless.. I really think dcs must urgently upgrade the underlying engine and ai resolution and logic chain, much more than build more modules. Problem i see here is how can i build entertaining mission if i have to test built everyrhong to a point i know the result of the mission 100 oercent before i even take off to be part of the mission...there is no "im going to try to beat ai on advanced in order to test my skills" moment.. as you build this scripted nonsense its over, you already know you will win, 3 amraams here, 2 jdams there, 1 cap friendly to save my ass, boom, why bother flying.
  14. Dear god, so you have to become excell ceo grandmaster to operate this nonsense into some sort of normalcy.. I guess the real upgrade we need is AI, not modules...
  15. Example, SEAD mission, 4 mig27 aed with anti radiation missilee, they approach the SAM area, they launch the missiles, they havr no missiles left, missiles fail to hit, SAM alive, they keep pushing with guns and obviously die.. what is this..must i specify all conditions and scripts and whatever to make them 1 percent intelligent or is this it? The height of artificial intelligence in dcs?.. Tried same mission woth Ka50, when i fly it obviously approach slowly, observe enemy, try hitost dangerous targets first, sams, then aaa, etc, when i put AI he keeps closing in, gets killed. Is this really so hard to script logic, like basic logic into the default mode..if not does it mean you have to script and define every collective movement and cyclic to make the AI not kill himself?
  16. Wow, thanks for the clip and the footage, .. insane, the memories.. i remember my friend used this prehistoric printer to print the end mission results (where each missile, plane kills is stamped out in detail and time. Wow, DCS you have come along way, but remember your roots-Su27 and one and only Kvochur. I wonder if the original game can be played somehow on today modern comps and win 11?
  17. Rest in piece my childhood hero, Anatoly Kvochur, the legendary pilot who originated the famous Kvochur Bell, he was in the very first original Su 27 Flanker game, featuring video of his flying of Su27, and oerforming also the famous Bell maneuver. I only found out through tik tok he passed away 4 days ago. To his memory i dedicate this page and hope someone finds original vid from Flanker and post it here. I cant as i am at work, plus down have the original game anymore
  18. hahaha, boys, tnx you alot, i did it!! ))) i mean i didn't refuel the whole thing but, big but, i did manage to connect in very short time and in controlled manner, and refueled for my record 30+ seconds, still overwhelming experience being THAT close to the tanker so i had some issues but over all amazing feeling, i am beggining to see benefits of being able to fly formation, refuel in actually moving the plane through waypoints and approaching airfields, CV during landing, its all much more smoother and more logical, its a beautiful experience wow. You guys deserve a shout out for real, you really did make an impact, my crappy X56 isn't actually responsible for my previous blunders (though still crappy and will be buying VKB whole set -including pedals as im also fan of the shark and hind, down the line Apache as well). Its funny, how DCS can be fun for all the different reasons to many ppl, some enjoy blowing stuff on the ground, others raking air kills in MP, to me doing the "basics" the right way and since i'm not a pilot its a full commitment and hard thing to get right on the get go. Now i can do the rest of it, navigation, frequencies, using TACAN, my god such a noob i know, and only then tactics, air to air, air to ground, and during all this not to forget to do 5 refueling missions per week for 10 min max to refresh and imprint as much of the movement into my muscle memory when its still "fresh".
  19. yup, something like that yes, .. a wonderful feeling, when the subconscious can do the work, you just have to be alert enough to let it work and clutter free to a degree obviously.
  20. roger dodger boys, practiced a bit, i agree with Imp, better to do frequent efforts that are short than long duration ones that are rare.. but being a 40+ year old dad i really struggle with time for this "hobby" of mine, so i do what i can, i starter from new year , 1st of january, and flew all together 5 times with 20 min each, today i flew for 50 minutes, i am surprised at my emotional control, not even once did i PIO to an extent to loose sight of the basket (let alone shoot down my poor assisting AI fuel station), and i flew in formation the whole time, i connected once and it was very good connection as it was controlled (than the usual ramming the probe with connection established for a milisecond). The best and worst part in today session was being in the zone, i could actually feel how totally centered i am and i was moving my stick all over the place but the plane was focused and i was coming closer and closer, and then like a dream, when you dream and in a dream you realize YOU'RE DREAMING, you become lucid, so excited, like wow, i'm actually doing this.. omg, OMG, and of course i blew it-i connected, Jester told me sweet juice something and my brain starting to celebrate and go ape<profanity> and of course i lost contact I guess you just have to be in that relaxed, pot induced state, like just don't care, and do your business and go home. But i must say i'm glad with my results, far from end result of being able to drink that sweet necessary juice but getting closer. Must say your input helped alot, especially from some members who corrected my belief (that i got watching youtuubers tutorials)that you don't need to have the stick totally trimmed out or even try to totally trim it out as you approach end stage of AAR, the be close enough in the ballpark with trim is enough, then its just stick and throttle work. But i was tense, i tried to relax a bit as well, but at moments i felt my abs, my feet, my shoulders work out like i was in a gym, thank goodness my x56 hotas is not made of dough i would have flattened it in my hands. Very much looking forwards to next sessions. And that is why i love DCS, for being hard, for the choice to pick that which is hard and beat myself, and become better for it. I remember as a kid flying the very first Flying Legends Su27, with my buddy i actually learned the Russian alphabet, and some meaning of some words, we would try to fly through Crimea and dodge S300 missiles, read the encylopedia in-game which had all planes and missiles listed (sadly i miss this part in our DCS) and even had some videos of Su27 i think performing Cobra and interview with that famous pilot-forgot his name though.
  21. thanks for all the support, guidelines etc. yeah i know its probably my fault, well it is my fault, my gear is not top notch (still dreaming of buying VKB stick and throttle, but for now i'm with the "middle" gear as in x56 rhino, the throttle is a bit stiff, i know there are some vids showing how to loosen it as it supposedly has issues with low quality grease or something, like its really hard to move it which could be an issue as well as throttle movement must be as precise as the stick otherwise you will be overshooting or slowing down too much, just as annoying as PIO. but yeah, i like the idea of flying formation, just going there and trying to hold it for 3 minutes or longer. on a side note, question-how long can you do formation flying, like if its intense (especially if its like 10-20 feet apart from Lead) how long can you do it before you get exhausted to such a degree its impacting your ability to fight, find targets afterwards (cuz you are wasted from concetration in formaiton flying)? how do the real pilots do it? probably doing loose formation flying most of the time or no? i can't imagine this for 3 hours every day.. anyhow, i will go and train, i can't promise tanker or lead AI planes will not be shot down in process in sad fratricide situation but i think releasing emotions is needed, especially since i think i have a long road ahead of me.
  22. i'm busting my brains trying to AAR for first time ever.. i fly the F14B and dear god i am starting to doubt its possible. So FIRST and FOREMOST ISSUE IS ---- TRIMMING-- how do you guys trim, that is mostly the pitch trim, what i mean is can you get positive zero with trim, that is, you let go of the stick and the freaking plane stays LEVEL, i am saying LEVEL, not 1 single feet per second climb, not even 1 foot per hour climb or descent.. i am saying level, or is it impossible thus you have to INPUT your movement from joystick therefore must have CONSTANT TENSION in the stick-which i think its BS as that reduces movement of the stick in that direction you are pulling so your precision will drop..not to mention how crazy it is to keep trimming in such a position. So, my progress so far is, i can line up, i can somewhat stablizie, i even connected like 5 times for 2 seconds before i disconnect.. obviously i will disconnect, the plane is too unstable, you need to have trimmed plane, but every single increment of the TRIM, when you press the trim once, it seems to be too much, it moves it in opposite direction, i try to get level trim, and i am just a slight above-climbing, so i press 1 click (i can't see how to press 1 tenth of a click) and boom , now i'm in a descent. !?!?!

    Proficiency poll

Exactly, this is at least what i know, how much i dont know, which is why my grades are so low, my basics when it comes navigation are very low, situational awarness low (when you deviate from waypoint to engage ground or air target and then try to rejoin your flight path..im talking mig15, mig19 navigation..or any ww2 birds.. How to study these things..i dont know, i think maybe could be a side project of DCS, Flight Academy DLC, where you enter a School of sorts and you get everything from theory and exams, understanding engine, hydraulics, aerodynamics of the plane then flying, basic, navigation, visual navigation, formation flying and then to top it all off, some sort of Top Gun to train complex air to air combat according to doctrines of the owners of planes, soviet doctrinee obviously differ from western ones, also according to ratio of kill to loss ratio.
  24. Hi guys, Small poll, i dont know if i will set it up properly, it goes like this; Tell us how proficient you are in particular module, how many you have, etc. I will do my take please take same form for easier reading. Number of modules: 7 Ka50, Mi-24, Mig15, Mig19, Mig21, F14, P-47. Proficiency: Ka50: 4 Mi-24: 1 Mig-15: 1 Mig-19: 1 Mig-21: 1 F-14B: 5 P-47: 3 Legend: explanation for marks, 1 to 10, 10 means you know not just everything but also you are very fluent in using your lnowledge coupled with your skills, for instance youcan do formation flying very close for longer time than 1 minute ( lets say 20 min), can refuel easily 9 out of 10 times and can maintain contact throughout, understand where you are on space, can find air base bacl home without F10 map option cheating, basically you are as close to a real pilot as possible, weapons employment, accuracy, aerial tactics (attacking in pairs, 4s, etc.). 1 means obviously the opposite. Rate yourself as you feel as normally hard to be very scientific with this poll, just generalization yo get a feel for it. If you can write why such bad low proficiency numbers in your modules (lack of motivation, campaigns, dynamic campaign, lack of time, bad gear (your stick is cheap and cant perform smooth precise movements etc). For me its lack of time definitely, i barely put 2 hours per week of flight time, so far i am on a mission to lewrn refueling with tomcat, started 1 month ago, and started by gunning down tanker after PIO on the basket non stop to now holding position easy, even connecting but sadly disconnecting like 3 seconds in.. Again thank you for you input, would love to see your "results"... ))))

    Mission Editor

Well obviously fuel consumption would work only as planning goes, so as you plan you can actually see will this thing from from A to Z or will it crashland.. Anyhow i would like mission editor to be more adaptable and i suspect the dynamic campaign and mission saves tht are hopefully coming slowly but not too slow will give big improvements on this case as well
