So, not sure where to put this in which topic and part of forum but here i go anyways; I would like an overhaul of mission editor to make it more intuitive and logical, some improvements that come to mind is especially important which is FUEL CONSUMPTION of planes,.. imagine putting a plane at 20k feet going at 380 knots, so this is zero waypoint, then waypoint 1, then waypoint 2, etc.. but lets say now you want to change your altitude and speed for waypoint 3-5(imagine just holding SHIFT and clicking waypoint 3,4 and 5) window opens and you specify joint waypoint instructions, so all of them will be at 15k feet at 300 knots. Now imagine, FUEL consumption graphically on those waypoints, you start with full fuel and 3 tanks, ok, you fly waypoint 1, 2, 3 and in middle of waypoint 3 and 4 the line goes from WHITE to YELLOW (indicating you spent your fuel tanks and now burning internal fuel) and then at waypoint 5 somewhere line goes RED-bingo fuel. you get the jist of it now. Second thing i would improve is connecting flights, like graphically, you have lets say one flight of 4 planes-strike group lets say-going for ground attack of some building, then you click and add a flight of 4 SEAD team, and you see on mission editor first flight and then Violet color line connecting this SEAD to flight 1 -leader lets say, and then you add CAP-fighter escort group of 4 planes that is subordinate to both of them. Obviously you need AI improvements as in today AI set up this just means big fat nothing unless you script every yaw and pitch movement of every aircraft. Idea is we need some sort of HQ command structure and AI logic that makes sense, flight leader, support units, air cover, ROE-where if enemy too powerful you can easily turn around and mission fails but you preserve the planes-something happening normally btw. Anyway after couple of more FF planes i hope ED goes to the core and core of the game should be Mission Editor aka Combine Arms, HQ add on or something. ideas and suggestions appreciated.
  2. its a pre-order on day one, one does not buy mig29 in dcs to kill enemies online, its to fly as close to really flying a legend, a true masterpiece, history and present and hint of a future all wrapped into one, the russian design, intuition, engineering solutions, elegance.. i can easily see myself just flying it, all clean config, take her to the skies, enjoy the landscape and listen to every noise she makes and land it as gently as i will master landing her.. and then i shall have a nice well deserved sleep. will probably dream about flying the bird as well. if i would have more money i would take the real mig29ub flight in moscow(doubt its open for westerners now if it is offered anyhow), so this is as close as all we enthusiast will get. Please ED, take your time, but also, please hurry up)))
  3. most analysis are very bias against USSR air force due to propaganda, i will not go into detail why this is so but it is, again, to think USSR planners are dumb af and build a plane and doctrine that will be annihilated in case of air war is stupid, but whatever, you think all of them would melt in 1 day and f15 would be flying all over siberia with air superiority)) reality is no, it would not be so, look at vietnam, vietnam fought with a measely how many mig15, mig17 and mig21? under 50x or 100x, don't know exact number but it definitely wasnt an air force of 2000 or 5000 that usa had at its disposal.. and what happened? ppl talk crap all they want reality is war is hard, difficult and you need economic logic behind a design and economic ability to replace losses and stratregy to employ planes in accordince with defensive assets, and abilities. mig23 was perfect for the role, much much again cant emphasise MUCH cheaper, and for hit and run you don't need pilots to train as much as nato pilots with their air superiorty tactics, big question is could nato suppress complex Air defense systems in a CONTESTED hit and run environment with mig23, mig21, mig29, su27?? no, it could not do it successfully meaning no losses to its planes, yes looses would be on USSR too, but their planes are cheaper and training acceptable enough to restore the number easier than western counterparts. But alas i can't argue 50+ years of propaganda with my fellow westerners, many of you will even say abrams is best tank and second best is leaopard, i end it here. back to DCS gameplanning, plane economic weight has to be put equation when making missions, and doctrines too, otherwise it makes completely no sense to have MP games, for instance mig23 would be employed in numbers and with GCI and Air defense zones where it can hide, western air force would deploy in smaller numbers with SEAD to try suppress enemy AD while air superiorty tries to hunt and supress fighters. its complex but only realistic scenario that would make flying any of these planes sensible.. putting mig23 vs f16 1 vs 1 is idiotic and not logical.
  4. first of all i agree with you completely, second of all ppl really think about this 1 vs 1 too much, you must understand doctrines and numbers and economics.. how many units could USSR pump out in a hot conflict situation, i bet it will outnumber the NATO side by a large margin, second of all, how effective would air superiority of early f16 be? with SA6, shilka and ground hugging aircrafts.. i think the advantage has to be with a machine capable of accelerating fast, having speed advantage, ruggedness to land on bad surface and being much cheaper and easier to maintain..in a war, a real gruelling war.. mig23 wins. so for that great machine, like many USSR machines

UPDATE II so, embbarassment alert, for track ir5 at least i see the problem, my stupid hot keys.. shortkey hotkey whatever for trackir5 were f6, f7,f8, now i changed it to Shift+6, shift+7 etc and so far i see no track ir freeze. Now to f14 part, yes i see the problem was just being inexperienced, i still don't understand how you get the feel for it so you can pull "max" g's and not pull too hard, i have accustomed to pulling lets say 4, 5 consistant g's, but for max g i usually over pull, meaning i will go to max max and loose too much air speed, but at least i see its not an issue of DCS or control stick, just plain old me. thanks for the support, now i'm back to tutorials how to drop bombs and lase targets etc etc..and of course crash into tanker while refueling or CV ass while landing.

OK, UPDATE, i tried playing with the tune the axis in dcs options, and only way i can pull smooth G's and somewhat constant movements is with these settings: Deadzone -4 Saturation X -68 Saturation Y -60 Curvature -9 on mig29 its somewhat stable, still a bit jerky if i pull the joystic pitch wise towards myself, i would get this crazy max turn that bleeds energy insanely, but MUCH MUCH LESS than in tomcat, in tomcat it was so severe i had to minimize my movements as to not pull more than 3 g's, ... more than 3 and i'm asking for it. i thought this is the fly module like this, than its joystick, then its dcs with its settings, i don't know, please guys just tell me as i still learning much and before i learn to use gun or PAL system to track anything down and dogfight, if you have such settings for pitch control as i put up here, am i "harming" fighting ability of the cat*? because now i pull my stick to the max and i can pull 8G, 10Gs, go and have a nice blackout and still no stupid cobras are being pulled. what the f is going on? on a side note, my dumb track ir 5 is not working as it should be, lights are all ok, they go green when i start the app, nice, go into dcs, works nice, nice, hit play, ok i can look around, unpause and i can basically look in front of me and in the 6 o'clock position, nothing else, i can do in between.. what? all lights are green, showing its working as it should, i exit game, go into trackir settings, i see it working smoothly. omg. and on a different note, i get crashed, the infamous yellow light, the stupid tracking stops tracking i guess, i guess this equipment should be called CrashIr5, or StopIR5.. i have to in such a case exit game, restart the tr5 and voila, i get another 5 minute of gameplay hassle free, that is if it works at all-look first track ir issue. I don't know if i'm just clumsy and don't know how to set up things, or just unbelievably lucks and everything i buy is crap, from modules, equipments, drivers i install lol.. Was thinking about saving a track and sharing it with you, but too much hassle, just trust me on the joystick setup, it works, don't really know what saturations do, i played with it until i got something normal from the plane, but don't know how such movement translates into dogfights?
  7. can you guys pls let me know how much sustained rate you get at lets say 10k feet, clean configuration, full internal fuel .. so what is max speed in knots you manage to turn so speed is maintained, altitude, and at what degrees per second? i will try to see if i manage same if not serious problem with something in my dcs

What is that? pitch up, you pitch a bit high but the thing goes cobra stupid? because that is what i get, i have two option, pitch like an old airliner or go super cobra.. how do i dogfight in this thing? unless i'm going for the millenium falcon with harrison ford evading lazily to the left i have no way of killing anything with guns or missiles in dogfight as i will either bleed all energy or go turn slow rate and get killed.

Good ideas, will try them out, maybe i just suck at f14 as it has no fly by wire and i don't put many hours into flying anyway, but to me it seems too slugish so something must be off, not being able to sustain 5 Gs in a turn when empty and holding up your airspeed is a no go i think. how do i do the integrity check and repair? Also the chuck guide..where can i find it? Thanks for the help.
  10. by the time this gets out i'll be retired with eyesight so bad it won't matter much the graphics.. lol..hopefully my grandkids will be able to fly it in 2040..

Greetings community, pls dont be mad i dont have the skills to find the proper article if there was such to find out what i'm doing wrong, but my f14 boy, i can't get that thing to fly normal, i own x56 hotas, its generally ok, wonky yes but other planes -flamming cliffs, etc, su25, su25T, even mig21 etc whatever i own works nice, what i am trying to say is f14 seems to be alerging to pitch controls, i can do rolls very nicely, but pitch is.. i tried dead zone, saturation, curvature, i tried it all, it doesnt matter, i try to lets say go pitch positive for somewhere in between, so not max and not min, so i should be pulling lets say 5G, 6G, well i can't, its either Airbus 320 or its a Cobra maneuver.. and nothing in between? Also i set my controls for 1 -pilot cockpit and 2- RIO cockpit, i can switch to RIO and that is it, i'm stuck there.. Also the views don't work, F5, F8, the view of enemy ground vehicles-impossible, and its set in the keyboard. I really hate the fact DCS UI doesn't see any issues, i should be seeing red flags pop up with my key binds to alert me what or why its wrong.. Anyhow, if anyone has the 5 minutes to reply and help an old noob go ahead, if not its fine as well.. just had to post it so i know i tried everything.
  12. thank you for the help, it was the auto assist option that didnt allow me to take control of the rudder. still struggling controlling it, but way easier as when before i couldn't even move it. can u imagine, trying to strafe ground target with your rudder trim offset..my god, i actually flew like this before this post answer of yours. on a side note, it would be nice if tutorial flights mention this things yes? can we give a shout out to DCS to tell developers to take into consideration everything that goes in to controling the plane, that is also the UI and all assistance that can be hindrence when just following the "tutorials"?

Hello community, need some help with understanding why my rudder trim doesn't work, i try keyboard binds, i binded to my x56 throttle stick, nothing, my rudder trim is set to can't remember what now, but its like, RH? or something, i can't change it, i mean i can use the keyboard to move it but then it automatically resets back, ...same if i try my throttle axis bind.. basically making it impossible to fly accurately. Is this a bug? if so, can i get a refund as it makes the plane unflyable?

  16. Date is default i don't know, country is Russia, i see a list of Russian planes to set and only yellow market those that are playable mig29, su27, etc.. but no mig15 or 21..

Greetings, made a wrong post in wrong section (in mig15 section) but i guess this is the right spot i think, please i need help, i don't see how to fly the recently purchased planes. i downloaded them, installed, i "see" them in opening page and can setup desktop and also configure controls, but no no, can't fly them, can't even put AI to fly them.. what?.. so, ..help is needed, .. i originally had only DCS Open beta, but recently also downloaded the Stable, so great, instead of 300gb of wasted space i have no 600gb.. wow, just doubling of all planes and maps for no reason, and even at that i see my planes are not available..what gives?

Hi there, Just recently bought mig21 and 15, got updated open beta DCs with both modules installed, i can configure controls for the planes, i can see them in opening page where u set desktop background of said planes, BUT i can't see them in mission editor so i could actually fly them...no matter the mission, cao, intercept, cas, etc.. I have downloaded.also DCs stable and same thing...so, do i need to be a hacker everytime I buy a module or just download and remove and download DCs like 100 times on hopes of seeing my planes?
  19. logic for not using afterburners is to make situation realistic.. in real life especially smart air forces would basically taunt themselves on the no man zone space, basically teasing the other enemy air asset to step over to your sam area.. so, CAP going beserk as soon as enemy comes close is not warranted, only after they are so close that turning and running away does not equal their chances of staying alive.. which means you prioritize not going into enemy airspace and especially enemy sams.. well, maybe as AI is progressing this intelligence comes to DCS, right now i feel like a lawyer having to specify not to microwave the cat when you prepare your breakfast..
  20. I don't know if this is correct part of forum for this but i would like to turn attention to making easier and better way to produce missions for either SP or campaign building on your own. I miss ability to make a mission let say CAP, where you specify at what zone from the flight path of CAP does bandit need to be to make the CAP go active and hunt him BUT make a condition it happens only if 50 miles from the flight path of CAP AND only if CAP is withing 80 miles of bandit at the moment of this incursion, AND also not use after burner until in no-escape zone more or less-engagement zone for deploying missiles with high pk situation. basically ALOT of conditions to make CAP make somewhat logical conclusions, is this possible in today mission editor or not?
  21. so, because its prototype its was simulated and no danger of the wrath of the authorities? makes little sense, ..how about simulating pak-fa t-50, its still a prototype to a large extent, with no 5th gen engines and in very limited numbers.. no?.. or maybe mig23MP which is was produces in limited numbers and was derived from mig23MS which way export oriented and was delisted of important technologies in fear of going to enemy hands.. so.. still too secret? .. ppl, its just a business decision we are seeing and it sucks cuz to me it looks like dcs will be blue force simulation. period.

Hi guys, just want some help, maybe not right part of the forum but if possible help me out, i saw this plane approaching our Pučnik airport in Slovenia, it had distinct propeller noise, couldn't make anything of it, sun was shining in such way only silhoute visible, i took a pic with the phone, hope it helps.   24. thank you guys for all of this, didn't know, and most youtube tutorials skip this "obvious" part..its just click, this, click that..yea yeah, ..and then nothing happens lol.. i need serious tutorial in INS,NAV,FLIR,TPOD,DTM, and T00 target of opportunity-how to delete the target points once you created them, i don't want to skip 10 points to get to my target?
  25. ok it works, wow, but now i don't know speed minimum i need, so i just crash into the target supersonic going brrr..lol..not exactly but not far from the truth..oh well.
