DCS: Flaming Cliffs 2024 - granted, they changed the name, but it did indeed release
-
A person I knew who was studying documentaries once said you can safely turn off any given documentary if it says anything like "we don't have any evidence, but if we did it would probably say...". Unless you have hard numbers, which I think you concede in your last sentence you don't, you have no foundation for anything you've said there.

If you're talking about DCS aircraft I might agree, but if we're talking IRL I think perhaps you are forgetting the F-22. I'm impressed with the EF and to some extent the Rafale, but I don't think either of those can compete with a Raptor, even with the EF having the Meteor... but each to their own I guess

F-14B(?) Upgrade as featured in DCS 2025 video
Horns replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Dear ED: Regardless of whether the AIM-54 can or cannot hit low altitude targets, you're doin' it wrong -
...and Nick Grey screams "HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?!"
-
I don't quite see that happening, although they might do something for owners who look to buy Charlie too...
-
When did we get told that? Official sources please. Edit: Methinks you shouldn't accuse others of running narratives.
-
It's pretty obvious that an IP breach for a company whose business is based on IP threatens that business' livelihood. The quote answered your question.
-
Funny, just now I yelled “Charlie!” and didn’t hear an echo…

If he’s the guy who redid the M2K radar after the AdA got involved, then I believe he did an amazing job. Having played the M2K in early 2019 before it was redone, I would contend well modeled radars were not a Razbam brand strength at that time, quite the opposite. Here’s hoping talented individuals will get work where they are appreciated.

They did indeed move it out of early access. More than four years after reaching that point, I believe it is supposedly in 'product sustainment'. If RB have stated that phase is also complete I hope someone will correct me. EDIT: I see how someone could have taken that to mean 'feature complete'. On a personal note, I kinda wish that FAQ (as included in Some1's post) had been posted by RB in the ED Forum too.

Happy 2025 everyone. May all of your warheads find enemy foreheads!

Yeah, that does seem to be the way of it. When it comes to aircraft I know we won't get absolutely up-to-date, and that's fine. I asked specifically about maps because I don't think they need to have the same sensitivities as airframes, and in any conflict we're likely to see 20+ year old airframe designs and other systems, so I think there could be a way to make it work well and maximize engagement, what you say is valid though of course. Thanks to both of you for replying!

Well timed!

Maybe it's not an accident they named it the *Strike* Eagle...

Fair enough, agree to disagree, but to clarify I'm not suggesting the bulk of people will have some in-principle issue with Razbam, only that they will view RB modules will be at greater risk of being unsupported in the near future.
-
Edit: Apologies for my original tone in this post, Zahnatom, that was uncalled for. My point was just that I disagree that the F-15E has been such a success since Razbam ceased support, and after this event I doubt that Razbam are going to get a lot of sales in the near future. As a result it's tough for me to see Razbam having much future in DCS even when this is resolved. If I'm right, I hope that wouldn't affect Heatblur's decisions with the Eurofighter (can't wait for that btw) or anything else. Hopefully sales of the F-4E have been resilient. I think welcoming Razbam back into DCS comes with more risk than it warrants. Either way ED appears to disagree with me and their opinion matters a lot more than mine does.
-
If Razbam’s behavior directly impacts ED’s reputation, many would say ED are better off lancing that boil now, rather than welcoming Razbam back to screw over any customers who might buy another Razbam product.
-
I wouldn’t expect fixes to any longstanding problems with Razbam modules at least until this dispute is resolved. What Raven says makes sense with my experience, it seemed like BD got handed the job of writing the AV-8B manual long after it should have been assigned. I wouldn’t be surprised if Razbam made a habit of assigning work when it could no longer be avoided instead of when it should have been done, that’s just me shooting my mouth off though. Edit: I was clear as mud there. What I meant to point out was that even if BD did the work (regardless of payment), Razbam aren’t pushing fixes to ED for inclusion in updates, so they still wouldn’t get to users. Regardless of willingness, it’s beyond BD’s control right now.

I know ED is not in a position to create any content that might attract Russia's ire, owing to having an ED office in Russia. I've also come across wish list threads requesting a Taiwan map where mods have answered that there are no plans for that and closed the thread, and those things got me wondering this... Should we expect ED to concentrate more on maps that allow past conflicts to be recreated (like Iraq and Afghanistan), or would you expect areas with current or recent tension or conflict to have a place in DCS' future? If it's the latter, would areas of interest to China (anything inside the 9-dash line and the Korean Peninsula) be off the menu now, similar to Russia? For example, if Australia finally reacted with the violence and fury warranted by New Zealand's irresponsible provocations in placing themselves adjacent to the Australian mainland and an ongoing war ensued, would a new map of the Australian East Coast and New Zealand be out of the question? PS: Just kidding about New Zealand, I love all sux of you, and I didn't even say anything about sheep!

Hi Hyperion35, Happy birthday! Kudos for getting DCS working on Linux. I guess you've probably figured this out, but in case it helps, besides the F-15E, the only other modules that aren't being maintained as normal are the M2K, AV-8B and MiG-19. ED have said they'll do their best to ensure that updates don't break the three mature modules mentioned. The South Atlantic terrain is still being maintained and updated, but it is published by Razbam. Besides the modules mentioned everything else is being actively maintained, so they should be as smooth sailing as ever. I'm speaking as a regular dude, so my word isn't official. Hope you do find something you like
-
Official enough for me!
-
Do you have an official source on this?! Sorry, couldn't resist, for reals all the best to you and yours
-
I think this is where people mention none of us know if we’ll live to see tomorrow - one can make a lot of bad decisions based on not knowing what might happen. Also, please note no third party has so much as made a public statement of sympathy for Razbam, let alone asking people to boycott any modules or products. If you worry about the future of our third parties, I suspect buying their products is a better way of showing support. YMMV.

I guess we've had our last major update for 2024, and so far we haven't seen any updates break any of the Razbam modules. I know people expected much more from the mudhen this year and rightly so, but at least things haven't gone backwards since Razbam suspended support. Here's hoping the Razbam modules stay compatible with all updates in 2025 and until the resolution of the dispute.
