From my point of view I wouels doubt that a RX9060XT will be sufficient for VR. Because of my own experience I say that a RX9070XT is a minimum!

Hello guys,
that topic is very hot for gaming DCS in Linux in general. Has anyone got managed DCS to work in Linux without Steam/Proton?If yes, please explain how you got it working.

thanks for your great work at your mad Cold War Germany! What a great scenario for DCS!
At the middle north west end at the map, a few kilometres west-south-west of Bückeburg is the location of Porta Westfalica. There you have a significant landmark at the mountain ridge. On the westside of the river "Weser" you find the Emperor William Monument.
Please add this regional important monument at the mountain ridge and the airfield Porta Westfalica.

I think you are set to go with low to medium settings in DCS. Don't hesitate, it's a beautiful experience!
For myself the biggest drawback is GPU (see my siganture).

After a few VR-Headsets I would actually recommend a Quest 3.
Its the best bang for the buck at the moment.

Ganz einfach, weil es letztendlich wieder nur um Geld verdienen geht. Genau dieses Verhalten zeigt wieder einmal, dass es um Umsatz geht und nicht um die "Leidenschaft" am Produkt. Da ist offensichtlich HB dann doch keine Ausnahme, obwohl selbst aus Perspektive von DCS der Anbieter als absolute Referenz gegenüber den anderen 3rd-Party-Anbieten zu sehen ist.
Das ist schade, da man sich so seine Reputation gleich wieder kaputt macht. Aber mich wundert es trotzdem nicht... leider

Is the advantage oft Nvidia this big in relation to AMD? The RX6000-Series is known for its huge raw-performance. Hmmm.... ok.
Thought that Nvidia has its benefits in software like DLSS and so on.

Hello folks,
prices oft GPUs are coming slowly down here in Germany. So my suggestion is to upgrade my graphics card (RX 6800 XT) to a 4090.
My question to this: Is it really worth it? I mean does the speed gain really matter?
With MT and now little better drivers from AMD the stuttering show has nearly gone; some graphical eyecandy could be realized. My settings in DCS are almost middle. With this I get ~40 fps.
What's your opinion?

Oooh PS: I am flying with a HP Reverb G2 in native resolution with OpenXR without MR (seems to doesn't work with AMD) and MT.

OMG, die BW hat doch sowieso schon kein Geld und jetzt wollen sie noch im Weltraum wirken? Und dann noch mit einer Cosplay-Show? Ich bin nur noch sprachlos...

Yes with the new MT version you are easily able to reach 45 FPS. I am getting these frames easily too with my system.

No texture settings are set to high. My setting are between low and medium. Thats why I say THW RX6800 XT can barely fire the Reverb G2.

You mean the FOV at 0.8/0.8 for example, or what do you mean?
@derneuemannMy resolution for the Reverb G2 is 100%.
For me the native resolution is more important than higher graphic settings for eye candy.

als Nutzer einer Radeon RX 6800 XT teile ich euch meine aktuellen Einstellungen in DCS und openXR (viele Grüße an derneuemann an dieser Stelle).
Ich muss noch dazu sagen, dass VR mit dieser Grafikkarte aktuell gefühlt flüssiger und angenehmer läuft als in der Vergangenheit. Keine Ahnung, ob eine NVIDIA-Grafikkarte noch "besser" liefe (mir fehlt der Vergleich).
Ob ich wieder eine Radeon kaufen würde? Aufgrund des Preis-/Leistungsverhältnisses auf jeden Fall ja. Eine Geforce 4090 würde mich schon reizen, das gebe ich zu.

@NachtfalkeKann dir die Ausführungen der Kollegen bestätigen.
Mit meinem aktuellen PC (siehe Signatur) bekomme ich in DCS aktuell zwischen 40-60 FPS bei niedrigen bis mittleren Einstellungen hin. Für spürbar mehr Frames ist sicherlich eine 4090 sinnvoll. Wäre da nicht dieser wahnsinnige Preis, käme ein upgrade bestimmt in meinen Kopf.
Zum Thema VR oder Nicht-VR kann ich nur sagen, dass ich Flugsimulationen ausschließlich in VR betreibe. 2D kommt wegen der fehlenden Immersion nicht mehr in Frage. Da nehme ich abgespecktes eyecandy gerne in Kauf. Falls du in VR einsteigen möchtest, tu dir selbst den Gefallen und nimm eine HP Reverb G2 oder etwas noch hochwertigeres, da du ab dieser Schwelle kein Fliegengittereffekt mehr siehst. Gegebenenfalls kannst du bei schwächerer Grafikkarte die Auflösung herunterdrehen. Die GraKa ist "schneller" getauscht, als die Neuanschaffung einer anderen VR-Brille.

This bird looks nice and promising! But hardly I have to say "no" to any purchase from a3rd party developer after the second loss of developer (first VEAO, now Razbam). A purchase would be a too big uncertainty for the future. Sorry, but ED crashed their loyalty in that for me!
