  1. Nice though it is to see screenshots like this, what we really need is someone with a time machine to jump forward 9 months, take the same DCS cockpit shot through the lens of Rift S, Index, Reverb, Vive Cosmos, Vive Pro, Rift CV1, Odyssey+, Dell Visor / Lenovo Explorer and show them all side-by-side so that we can actually see what the differences are.... :)
  2. Hands on review over on Tomshardware.com https://www.tomshardware.com/news/valve-index-vr-headset-controllers-hands-on,39206.html Finger tracking and lens adjustability sounds interesting, the rest less so. Personally I'd prefer to stick with inside out tracking rather than something that needs expensive lighthouses, but if finger tacking meant I could toggle switches in DCS with my fingers then I could potentially be converted....
  3. The comparison I'm waiting for is Rift S vs Lenovo Explorer.... both 1440 screens, curious to know if Oculus have done something in the lens department to give a better picture.
  4. Took the plunge with a Lenovo Explorer WMR headset. First impressions of DCS VR: WOW !! Soo much better than was expecting. Not sure sticking my head through the F-18 canopy and peering over the side is realistic, but it sure is fun :) One question I have to ask though - why does everything seem half-sized? Makes me feel like I'm a blinkin hobbit !!
  5. Thanks, good to know there is a "get out of jail free" card if one's choice of headset turns out to be over-ambitious :)
  6. One thing I did wonder - if desktop monitors can run at resolutions lower than their native setting, can a VR headset likewise be run at a lower resolution ? ( just in case the latest superhires helmet struggles with frame rate - is it an expensive paperweight, or can it be run at suboptimal resolutions until such time as the PC has been sufficiently upgraded ? )
  7. Looking to get into VR for the first time, but in a quandry over what to get. Limiting factor is likely to be current graphics card- RTX 2070 - so I guess that rules out HP Reverb for now ? Samsung O+ looked interesting but for some unfathomable reason Samsung don't sell them this side of the Atlantic :( Sooo..... Rift S or are there better choices ? ( don't particularly want to mess about with external sensors, will mostly be seated running DCS, and Vive Pro too darn expensive)
  8. Went into DCS, created a fast mission - using the spitfire, set area to Normandy..... but can't see where I need to specify 'use WW2 units only ' ? It's seems slightly unsporting when flying along in my Spitfire only to be shot down by a BVR missile from a Su-27 !!!!
  9. Ideal campaign ? That would be Kandahar AFB on an Afghanistan map..... guess SoH is the closest we're going to get to that for now :(
  10. Here's my first attempt to go from cold start-up to flying.....:poster_oops:
