  1. The server is not showing up in the list. I have been trying for a while and I know there are players active.
  2. I know they carry less and that's what I meant. I believe the argument in another thread was that a pilot would not carry less fuel in real life. I don't care what we do in the game. Maxed out or running on fumes is fine by me. I edited my post to make it clear. :megalol:
  3. Apparently some feel it's a cheat or gaming the system as no real pilot would ever fly with less than max fuel (commercial airliners fly with less all the time). I have no problem with it as this is not a historical reenactment and it makes no sense to carry a full load for a thirty minute flight when it will effect handling.
  4. I never said that it all comes down to pilot skill, just that most of the time in this game it does. If it was just who had the better plane then the 51s would lose all the time. That is not the case though. I have months worth of Tacviews that show many 109 pilots getting shot down. I do agree that on this server and at the altitudes usually flown the 109 has a mechanical advantage. The 51 is a high altitude interceptor and does best high and fast. That doesn't mean it's a POS at low altitude. I know of several pilots who kick 109 ass at low altitude (and mine has been kicked many a time). Maybe these guys are just aberrations and the rest don't stand a chance against the 109 but I'm sure there are others out there that would disagree. Maybe more 51 pilots should fly on the DOW server. DOW server has plenty of distance between airfields and actual objectives. It's fun to fly on but the air to air action doesn't come as quick as ACG. That's probably why ACG is popular though and the 51 guys keep coming back. I think most want the fast action even it means they don't have the space to get up to altitude. I am in favor of your idea of alternate airfields further back. That way those who still want to get into the thick of it quickly can still take off from close up and the others can go further back to have time to gain altitude. It's the simplest fix to this server that can be accomplished at this time. Until the Spitfire comes out.
  5. I really don't think it's planned out like that and it doesn't happen all the time. The point of my post was to counter the claims that the players who fly the German planes not only are outnumbering the p51 players but that they are constantly covering and vulching the allied airfield. On several occasions I have seen claims in chat while playing that this was happening and after viewing the Tacview there was no such thing occurring. I know several p51 flyers who can school 109 flyers, and I'm talking good 109 pilots. So this idea that the p51 is severely under matched to the 109 is not true IMO. When the p51 gets its extra boost from the better fuel the outcomes will mostly be the same. It is going to come down, as it almost always does, to pilot skill.
  6. While I appreciate the extra top end speed it is only good for straight flight. You can't maneuver well at that speed, especially turning left. However, reduced drag should have an effect at slower speeds as well with better acceleration and less loss of speed in turns. I would have assumed that it was modeled that way and not just adding top end speed.
  7. Haven't tested it but it does feel faster. Not just top speed but accelation too.
  8. I've been flying warbirds in DCS for about two months now. I have all three but almost exclusively fly the 109. I've always liked the plane and enjoy is temperamental nature as well as its older style cockpit (compared to the other two). I can't say if any of them are modeled to historical accuracy but these have a more realistic feel than some of the sims I've played in the past. If the mustang, or other other two for that matter, is not accurately modeled then I'm all for correcting the issue. I'm not swayed by arguments about historical accuracy as to the most likely matchups in the sky over France/Germany. There are innumerable factors that led to matchups that I feel that ED is not trying to replicate. The planes involved existed at the same time and place. At least it's not a Luftwaffe 1946 scenario with planes that were prototypes or only existed as blueprints.
  9. Last I checked this is not a historical reenactment. These are three planes that could have met in combat (and probably did on occasion). This isn't about what was the most likely matchup. I am not looking to fly a poorly built slave labor plane that was repaired from cannibalized parts on a frontline airfield. We have three comparable aircraft with which to play a video game with. There is virtually nothing historical in ww2 DCS but what we have is a lot of fun and I'm excited for the future. All that being said I do want all the planes to be as accurately modeled as possible.
