  1. The plane is wobbly as hell since the update where they listed changes to the control surfaces. I commented this in another thread: The wobbly feeling is at all ranges. Less at high speeds, more at low, but this was the case before as the 109 was more stable at higher speeds. It almost feels like the control surfaces deflect more for smaller movements of the stick. I think the rudder might have the same issue just less pronounced. I had to set a curve on pitch and roll to 20 to make it somewhat comfortable to fly and I never use curves. I'm not saying it's unflyable as I was able to go 5-0 last night but for someone who has flow this plane as much as I do a change like this is pretty drastic. I hadn't seen anything posted or discussed that a change was warranted or requested and coming out after the full release version is strange. As Defaultface pointed out in another thread, the slats may not be deploying either. I did a quick check of my video from last night and it least visually that may be true (hard to see on my phone).

  3. Well it sure has changed how the plane handles. It is now bouncing all over the place making it difficult to line up shots.
  4. Slack, your not wrong. The plane feels all over the place making it very hard to line up shots. There was a change in the last update and its as follows for the 109: DCS Bf 109 K-4 Electrical gauges will depend of electric power Reworked control surfaces deflection saturation to a clamping behaviour Fixed surface degradation upon detachment of control surfaces, redesigned axis-driven elevator trim behaviour Added zero tick to trim scale What they mean by reworked control surfaces is unknown to me.
  5. It would be nice if the visible damage had a greater effect on flight control. There is some level of loss of control modeled as I've lost pitch control on occasion (couldn't see if I lost the elevator) and if I lost an aileron then the plane became very unstable. Bullet holes in the control surfaces don't seem to have an effect. I shot off one of the elevators from a 51 and the plane maneuvered just fine so I'm not sure what happened there. I think most of the visual holes, white smoke, black smoke, fire are more just representations of a certain level of hit point damage done, mostly cosmetic. I've had 51s full of holes, belching black smoke who either made it back to base or put up a heck of a fight in that state so, while it had to have an effect, the visible damage must not have equated to actual structural damage. I have had engine issues much later after being hit that seemed to indicate something was gradually happening. Whether it was a simulation of fluid loss I don't know.
  6. Sorry but I have to back out for tomorrow. Have plans I had forgotten about at that time.
  7. I'm in as well. DarkRaiderss in a bf109 (flare pistol preferred).
  8. One of the biggest reasons I think the WWII servers remain so sparsely populated has nothing to do with the quality of the sim, but more so to do with the lopsided odds presented. Nobody wants to spend the time learning either of the great modules to be presented with 3 to 1 matchups with red aircraft overwhelming superior to blue in the type of play on MP. -SLACK I see complaints about lopsided odds with more red flyers than blue as if it is never the way around. I've flown many times with 3-1 odds against me and I have pointed out in my streams many times when blue outnumbers red. Yet it's if this never happens. Couple things to point out. First if he numbers are say 8-4 one side or the other, that doesn't mean 8 guys are flying together in formation. Most likely they are singles (especially the axis side) and are all over the map. I've flown on B.S. A few times with 7-7 odds and never saw another red pilot for long stretches. I usually engage by my self against the 51s without help around as we are not coordinating. I was the only red plane in the server last night against 3 blue but they were all over the map. Second point is the numbers are not static, they fluctuate and one moment one side might outnumber the other and 5 min later it's the reverse, and 5 after that it's flipped again. Performance wise the 109 is generally the better plane for the air quake engagements but the constant complaints about being always outnumbered based on the server totals is not valid. It does happen that a guy in a 51 will have 3 109s on his tail and that is usually a death sentence but trust me it goes the other way too. Even when red might have the overall numbers I've been in 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1 encounters (almost always a loss but part of the game).
  9. I'm not disputing that and that would fall under the new damage model for all the planes. I just pointing out that the posted video is not specific to the 109 under how DCS handles damage for the planes. The 51 can soak up a lot of damage as well, the difference IMO is the 30mm not that the 109 has been made extra durable by ED in excess of the 51. Once we get the new model the 51s guns will hopefully perform as expected. Even if less powerful, the 109s 13mm guns should also be more effective than they are now.
  10. I got plenty of videos of the same thing except in reverse. It isn't like the 109 has magical +3 armor. The 30mm is what makes the difference and when that's out its only the 13mm guns and then the results are much more similar.
  11. I've noticed the same issue recently. I agree with Schnarre in that I only pull enough to stay out of the other's sights. I've thought I was safe due to the position of his nose and then I was getting hit. I would have pulled more if I saw him getting a firing solution on me.
  12. The 30mm is not usually a 1 hit kill though it can be if it hits the right place. It's almost triple the diameter of the 50 cal and it explodes so it can be devastating to an aircraft. It's drawbacks are poor range and significant drop. You have to get fairly close or get a lucky shot.
  13. I believe it's a battery issue as I was able to get the plane to start using ground power. Of course you could just get in another plane to avoid the issue. As a side note I've noticed after flying a long time (multiple landings and refuels) and using the mw50 a lot it seems that the tank isn't getting refilled. I eventually have to get a new plane when it runs out.
  14. It's just hearsay as I didn't communicate with the guys my friend was quoting. He named three individuals who were not happy because they were experiencing high speed stalls that I guess hadn't occurred before. He told me this in response to my question as to why it seems less people are flying ww2 as of the last couple weeks. I told him I had not seen anything on the forums and that you guys would be quick to point out a problem. I did tell him I would post this to see if anyone had noticed. Thanks for the input. I will ask these guys in question directly next time I see them online and follow up if necessary. Thanks Update: I spoke to one of the pilots. It seems my friend (English is not his first language) misunderstood. This pilot said that occasionally when an update is pushed out he notices a change in how the P-51 handles. He keeps two installations of DCS so if this occurs he uses the one that he didn't update. Eventually whatever the issue gets corrected and he uses the update. He has had the 51 a long time and said this has happened several times. He said the 51 is fine right now. So my friend took his comments that the FM is currently broken even though it's not.
  15. I've been told by a friend that several flyers of the P-51 are upset that the flight model of the P-51 has changed. I was told they are complaining that it's stalling more easily. Has anyone noticed this. I don't fly the P-51 that much so I couldn't tell. I haven't seen any mention in the forums either but the complaints are apparently from some very good pilots who fly frequently. Thanks
  16. So the damage modeling on the 109 is different than the 51 and 190?
  17. Those settings pictured are for the rudder axis. The guy in the video is talking about why he chose he settings based on conversations with a P-51 pilot. Reducing his saturation is just reducing the maximum deflection of his rudder. In this case I don't see this as necessarily an advantage just an attempt to replicate the real rudder feel.
  18. That is interesting. I had read the older version. Even though I only get the non-start occasionally, I'm going to try turning off the battery in the future to see if I can avoid this issue entirely. Thanks for pointing that out.
  19. I have that happen on occasion but most times it starts up fine. I've never turned the generator/battery off during flight and don't recall that in the manual. I do shut everything down during repair (including all breakers) and seem to have better results (i.e. not draining the battery). I don't shut down for rearm/refuel as that's not necessary.
  20. The more the merrier. We had that spike in traffic during case blue that has waned a bit. I too hope that Normandy will generate more interest and there's no reason to think it will not. I expect the Spitfire will also up the numbers. Between both I expect we will see some new blood as well as those that may have left DCS because the WWII climate was limited.
  21. That was great behind the scenes insight. I never would have considered the level of detail involved in determining a failure of the gpu. There was a lot of really high end equipment in that lab.
  22. I've had a great time flying on your server. I enjoy the variety of the missions and the DOW guys are a great bunch to fly with and against.
  23. I'm sure there will be those doing just that. I'm also sure, based on comments I've read on this forum, that there will also be those saying the spit is a flying brick and is underperforming. There will be complaints when inexperienced pilots get out turned by a 109. I have see both sides complain their plane sucks or that the opposing is overpowered.
  24. I always check the pitch setting after he most minor hit to see if it's still moving. You can still be effective in combat if it freezes at a certain pitch range that still allows decent power. I have gotten many kills with the prop pitch out though it becomes much more difficult.
  25. I'm in the US and on this and other servers many times it's blue heavy. I have often flown by myself with 6-8 blue on the other side. I've flown with even numbers and red heavy. It fluctuates and I never complain when I'm outnumbered. It's not like I had 8 guys chasing me at one time. Unless they are all on TS and coordinated I can usually find the strays and avoid being overwhelmed. I find red usually has less teamwork when I fly than blue.
