  1. Well today was our first attempt at the world record cross country, I would say it was semi-successful as we ran out of time to make it all the way to our last stop, but we were able to successfully land at kutasi. Journey started out a little rocky. C101 tried to land at krasnodar with no gear and the Hawk forgot to flare. So right off the bat we were delayed about 45 minmutes which is what prohibited us to finish all the way to batumi. However once we took off from Krasnodar on the way to Maykop things started to smooth out. The 3 ship was separated due to pilot error and the stranded Hawk ended up getting R27ERd to the face after becoming hypoxic and blacking out at 17,000'. Now we are down to a flight of 2, C101 and L39. Our next segment had us departing Maykop eastbound to Nalchik via Mineralyne VOR. However over the course of 140NM several surprises came upon us. Moderate ice was encountered and forced our 2 ship to climb rapidly at full military power. In the frantic climb the C101 forgot to switch fuel tanks and lost engine power. An airborne restart was attempted then failed due to fuel pump positioning. (pilot error) However the second re-light attempt was successful thanks to flight lead guiding the scared trainee through the procedures. Once the Engine was recovered the pitot static system iced over on the C101 and forced him into a dive to get out of the icing and find warmer temperatures. He eventually found his anti-ice switch and turned it on.... Rejoined with about 50NM to way point Nalchik beautiful screen shots were taken during the sunset flight and approach. We tuned in the ILS and did practice ILS landing. The next segment of flight had us crossing very rough high altitude terrain and dark was fast approaching. Hot refueling procedures at Nalchick and the 2 ship was off to brave the mountains. ***meanwhile mr hawk pilot has been on an intercept heading full military power to intercept our position*** We began flying up a small mountain valley below the cloud layer. Rapidly realizing the mountains are becoming obscured by low level clouds we begin a max power climb. Completely in instrument meteorological conditions and in high terrain at night...bad situation. Luckly the C101 broke through the top of the layer and frantically told flight lead to climb as fast as possible. Struggling to maintain airspeed as is I pitched up to brink of stall. Eclipsing the cloud layer I noticed we were heading straight for the tallest peak!:surrender: Clearing the side of the mountain by less than 50' crisis was averted and we re joined tight formation to capture a few more shots of the terrain above the clouds. *at this point the hawk is only 5 miles to intercept us! he pulls up to clear terrain, blacked out, stalled and ended up a smoking hole in the mountains north of Kutasi..RIP Cravgar:worthy: Server running short on time we max power fly to Kutasi and land successfully, however still about 60NM short of our original intended destination of Batumi...maybe next time.:pilotfly: For just a flight with no weapons it was still action packed and we were all exhausted after nearly 2+ hours of constant flight, refueling, instrument navigation, and system failures. Maybe next time we will leave a bit earlier:thumbup:
  2. Its not an endurance record, more of a point to point cross country with multiple stops and covering max distance N-S without travelling laterally or backtracking Still waiting on dispatch(mirknir) to release us tho....;)
  3. Oh man what a blast today, carrier ops (carrier kamakazie if you are Bert) in warbirds, and off road back country bush flying while trying to refuel and re arm on FARPs :D ! After many (10-20) failed attempts Nasa landed on carrier then myself. In the pics you may see another crazy warbird using the carrier as a ski jump!....note the splashes from the ocean, this is where he went to find Nemo...:pilotfly: Hope you found Nemo in the ocean Bert! Not to mention how I was literally crying from laughing so hard whilst watching Bert do his famous, "SimultaneousEngineStartFullThrottleTakeOff" :megalol: You know its bert talking on teamspeak when all you hear in the background is mouse clicks from a madman trying to start up fast as possible to go slam the carrier again!
  4. Cant wait! we are anxiously waiting from dispatch (mirknir) to release our 2 ship to embark on a new OC record setting flight! Would it be possible with the new server update to switch time frame to early dawn?? would be kinda fun to take off at night and fly through sunrise again :) But please i hope the rain stays! we must plan for anti icing and IFR navigation:thumbup: Will probably take 2 hours with our landings and refuels at each spot
  5. What is the benefit of radio beacon? You mean beacon for tracking a rescue or something? Moving ship is pretty fun.
  6. Tomorrow we FLY! Open Conflict longest cross country flight record, L39 and C101 will be accomplished:thumbup: I will bring the vodka:beer:
  7. almost forgot! Mirknir in cognito last night said this "your puny army wont touch it" I think they beg to differ!
  8. Tho i was not very sucessfull in the killing the 25Ts, i did manage a pair of fighters F15 (just for you mirk!) and Su33. Ship defense will continue until kill ratios improve! We fight for moskva! Also a fun mini helo party took place, cosmic stepping into his big boy pants with UH1!
  9. You conveniently left out the part where i had you dead to rights and YOU ejected prior to me firing the missile! Damn capitalist dogs. I will be there to defend my comrades tomorrow again!
  10. C101EB....:megalol::lol: what you like flying Cessna 172 in DCS?!
  11. Carrier qualifications underway for warbird pilots! this time i did it with gear Mirknir! ...may or may not have bumped prop tho:lol:
  12. Some more cool shots from today! Also i could spawn huey on ships with no problems today, not sure if that was something being tested or not but they worked as of a few mins ago. And then the last one basically sums up my first day in the P51
  13. Ah i see in regards to making ships not be crazy. Well for all I care test away as I have no power today lol just as I was about to release some firepower on BTR. Also for those that love top gun, and for those who say crosswind is unrealistic check out the crab angle right after lift off in this awesome HD video. I do not know the strength of the wind but as for the L39 in DCS this looks almost identical to taking off in OC during dynamic weather!
  14. Well I love the L39 spawns at Gelenz! Was going to do some more flying but now power is out :( also I made the report of the L39 not tuned into awacs anymore? Did this get borked in an update? Perhaps I was out of range tho I know you did say you moved the awacs flight path. Like the new season ! No more dynamic weather is coming in update tho?
  15. That moment when you update DCS before Mirnkir says too and now you cant find server in MP list...
  16. Well cosmic if you ever make fun of me for posting stories of sorties I will be very mad!:D Looks like I've been missing out! However I do see a sale on DCS, are my F190 pilot actively flying their warbirds?! If so should I buy the p51 so we can have open conflict warbird parties this week?!
  17. Some more epicness on Oc today Flying in formation with Bert in some old warbirds! Great fun. Not to mention the a2a guns kill from F86 to Mig29 :) Mirk, any chance u can change F86 default radio Chanel setup to AWACS like you did with L39 channel? Much appreciated!!! Also request per Bert...and me I guess hehe Any chance to spawn the warbirds at Gelenzhick? And Fw190s on redfor?
  18. I confrim, mission time january INS wont align properly
  19. haha thats also what happens when you fly an airliner for a week then comeback and try to fly like Maverick and Goose in an L39. also @Mirknir, trying to track down a bug with Mirage INS. Is the server time frame set in January? If so this explains why the m2k does not align (known for m2k HOT aircraft.) Or if its not, its due to the newest patch. Then again it would be yet another 1 step forward, 2 steps back for RazbaDz
  20. hmmm not sure if this is linked to "January", but i know the HOT start m2000s are not aligned properly anymore
  21. Great now I have to find the radio power in mig21 lol
  22. Lol Mirk does not baby us that's for sure! Still rinsing the R73 taste out of my mouth:;) I don't have a monster PC but I'm able to run high settings across the board on OC with only the occasional stutter (typically towards the end of the mission). Love the dynamic weather on high setting with early morning fog over the ocean. BEAUTIFUL
  23. I'd be ok with cutting the export and adding some ship madness watching everyone get killed lol could be fun even if it's just a temporary change. Also I never knew DCS even had subs! That's interesting
  24. Sorry about the enter key! Lol typing from my iPhone hehe Your explanations make a lot of sense, I seem to always forget about the "performance" side of things too. I'm glad you are as smart as you are! No wonder you have fancy new job:thumbup: As for the -ag mine I did not know about this, cool! I'll be trying it out!
  25. Hmm. There has definitely been an advanced level of players on OC now that I have noticed too. I always thought it would be kind of cool if there was a map rotation system (Kashuri and Tuapse) and Kashuri can be kept as a training round with exports enabled and indestructible tankers /awacs then when it rotated to Tuapse it could be a more "hardcore" version with destructible AWACS and tankers, maybe even smaller protected zones to force the team to really work together. And if it is unbalanced and someone wants to just fly a Huey and not get spawn raped at the airport he could join the overpowered team and still have fun destroying the objectives and such. I think if you can broadcast the score board in the hourly "server reset" message with things like "blue team is behind 1500 points" or something of the sort to drive all players to do their best for their team. I think a lot of us regulars agree that sometimes if you can successfully sneak in to enemy territory and start tearing up the opposing team you deserve to have that ability after sneaking past convoys and other enemy players along the way while not being hindered by FLAK zones. Like how fun would it be to have a coop mission to attack Gelenzhick air defense with A10s and have player CAP support and helicopter ground pounders. While blue team is trying to scramble and get their base back under control. That type of play adds a dimension that is never identical to the standard, spawn attack supply base that's always where u left it 2 weeks ago then rtb lol not hating or saying anything bad about current play, let me be clear, you have done marvelous work on Tuapse and I will forever be a dedicated regular as long as it's hosted. Just my 2 cents. Maybe some regulars that play in TS can jump in here and share their thoughts on this too? I know we talk about it in TS a lot too. Last thing side note, question, possible request, :) What do you think of adding all objectives red and blue to the "-ag" menu so that players can elect to "defend" their teams objectives. I.e. Blue team player types -ag under defense needed or something could be their infantry incursion that red players might attack? Could add a new play style to those helo pilots and light aircraft. Long post sorry this is what happens when you get to sit in the airport for 3 hours waiting on maintenance
