  1. Since they got better sensors and range anyway, that's not really necessary...But as I said, this pissing contest is utterly pointless. I may start to consider the grave consequences of a few seconds more to scramble when Blue actually stops stacking the teams to ridiculous degrees. Maybe then they actually might come into the situation where they need to scramble, because they don't have 3 or 4 times the numbers. Until then I will find it very difficult to take these complaints in any way seriously.
  2. Which is not faster than a 3 fuel tank scramble in an F-15 and gives you only a fraction of the time. Stop the pissing contest already.
  3. I'm extremely excited for this, you guys, looks very good. Yeah, a smoketrail should be added, but i trust the cosmetics will come with time. I'm very much looking forward to how this will change the PvP dynamics in servers like BlueFlag. Keep on rocking PolyChop, your Gazelle is still my favourite module to fly, only being rivaled by the Mig-21!
  4. I do not understand where this weird notion is coming from that Blueflag rounds need to be associated with specific time periods. From what I have read it was the goal to create different setups that allow for different gameplay experiences, which certainly can roughly lean towards time periods, but not necessarily need to. Yeah, of course you can take away all A-G capability of RED, because you set some arbitrary cutoff date, if you want an empty server that is. It's a stupid proposal. Now if DCS had most or all of the available Aircraft of a certain time period, sure, there would be options to do it then, alas it does not. So the only reasonable thing is to work out different setups that work. Work in the sense of "There is actually fun in a more or less balanced, but generally working gameplay experience to be had." Sure, you can make claims of the "But mimimimi, Nato was so much superior in that time period, this is a Sim, so Blue must be superior, too!"-like but what happens then is what we saw in Round 6, which was over very quickly, had ridiculously low playernumbers on the team that got ****ed in terms of balance and a high level of discontent in the process. You need to be realistic about this: This is not a realistic flight simulation. The missile physics are galaxies away from that, most of the flight models and sensor systems are, too (looking at you FC3). This is a game and it needs to be treated as such if you want a reasonable number of people to actually enjoy it. Not many people are willing to suffer constantly in terms of gameplay in the name of """realism""".
  5. Well, it all depends on Red's ground attack capabilities I think. I have both the Mig-15 and the Sabre and in the Sabre it's extremely easy to be very effective with ground strike (especially with the rockets, but also with the assisted bombing). With the Mig however I just gave up. The slightest deviation in angle, speed and altitude will make you miss a smaller target, so you need to be perfect. Which is fine, of course, were it not such an extremely boring thing to practice. ^^ Are there people who are that good with a Mig in divebombing? Apparently yes, but I do not expect those people to be many tbh. It mostly depends on the question of what we're facing in the event. Stuff up to the M113 can be dealt with by the cannon, but things with more Armor (LAV, Bradley etc.) need a direct (!!!) hit with the bombs, and I just do not see that happening with the Mig on a regular basis. I just hope the situation with ground capability and targets presented will keep the necessary skilllevel on a reasonable scale (and no, training for hours day in and day out to get perfect with the Mig in divebombing for one event is not reasonable ^^), otherwise I fear this will devolve into an Airquake at least on Red's part. But I guess the BS-guys already know that anyway and will plan accordingly.
  6. As much as I love integrated radio for games where it is useful (simulations especially, ArmA and stuff), it has always proven to be tricky in open servers/open events, because...well of the human condition. :> The only times I have seen this truly work is with an enforced whitelisting-system. You show a Supporter that you got it installed and it works - you may join. I do not know if DCS has a whitelisting-system, although providing a password-protection for the server could also be a solution. Alas, BS always wanted to keep the server open. I fear this might fracture the players even more in terms of communication, which is bad enough as it is, at least for RED, since we got a lot of language barriers going on anyway and a lot of our guys are not in TS. As much as I'd like to zap through the then probably emerging frequencies to enjoy an authentic "Cyka Blin!", it might prove to be a challenge to implement in our environment. :D
  7. I would like to know if it is true that Blue can use the 120B, but Red loses both the ER and the ET. Because if that is the case....
  8. Your timing is perfect sc, the round ended minutes ago. ^^
  9. Since when can Gazelles call in bombers after they were destroyed? I never experienced that. If you die, you usually lose the intel. If you just heavily damage a Gazelle that's on the ground and don't bother to actually destroy it and kill the pilot, then yes, it can use the intel. But that's easily preventable - by shooting it. Can a Gazelle theoretically solo a FARP? Yes, it can. But a Gazelle is practically defenseless against anything airbourne, so even a single little Huey, MI-8 or whatever can prevent the Gazelle from doing so. Not to mention that it's extremely easy to shoot down the bombers in any kind of Fighter. A Gazelle is only strong when you literally do nothing about it, so I don't really get the problem here. I flew about 15 sorties in a Gazelle with the intention to solo a FARP, 2 of them were actually successful. One a few days ago, because Blue just didn't care, one an hour ago, because the Bomber came through after the F-15 that patrolled the Area got too comfy with my IGLA and 3-4 Huey/Mi-8s were not able to prevent me from landing on the FARP. So the only thing you need to completely shut down a Gazelle is either a) An F-15 that goes for the Bomber or b) a huey that hovers over the Farp and just snipes the Gazelle with the flexi-sight when it approaches to land. I do not see anything that's OP here. And on another note, you do realize that you mostly just provide entertainment, right Jesterino?
  10. No, a few KM distance is enough.
  11. Quick question: Can Blue GCI switch off the radar on Airdrome defense like the S3? Because just now it seemed like that happened. I checked for Red and definitely cannot do that (yes, Combined Arms installed). Was that just a really freaky repair timing?
  12. The Gazelle can, the Ka-50 cannot. Gazelle: Slow but agile, can carry crates/troops and has 4 wireguided missiles. Can also recon and send in a completely useless bombing strike. Huey: Fairly quick, fairly agile, can carry crates/troops, pretty good Weaponry for a transport. Mi-8: Much faster than the other two, good for long range transports, can carry troops/crates, not very agile, pretty good mixed Weaponry. To be honest the most useful Chopper is the Mi-8, since what you're mostly gonna be doing is flying straight to capture stuff and the speed is nice to have. The Ka-50 is cute, but better on the Blue side, cause if you're flying for Red the F-15s Masterrace-Radar will spot you most of the time even if you're being sneaky. And if your Team has Air Superiority the A-10 and Su-25 are simply quicker to do the job. Sometimes the Ka-50 can do an amazing job, but the Strikers will do most of the work.
  13. Is that the new "Me and my 8 other F-15 buddies just fired 8 AMRAAM's each at the 2 defending red jets and flew home, hurr durr!" - Meme? ^^ But in all honesty there is no need to lose sleep and get angry over the current situation and setup. If you really want to effectively critique it, just wait it out, let it be over in 24 hours and maybe enough people on the blue side get bored with killing AI only to let the concept of balance creep into Blueflag again. All this shitposting and argueing has proven to be utterly pointless anyway. I come from a background of purely WW2 simulations and we had the same nonsense there. Back there it's everybody stroking themselves over ze almighty Luftwaffe, now it is a bunch of mostly MURICAH!-Natofanboys that fill this role. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's the only way to effectively prevent you from having an aneurysm and to prompt the other side to change things up. Or heck, even join them, the sight of 52 blue players on the server could be the best signal boost there is. The worst thing to do is complain and rage on the forums AND then play it and thereby legitimize the setup and give them their fun on both platforms - forum and ingame. Either play and live with it with some dignity or don't play and flip them the bird. A mixture of that is always meh. ^^
  14. Thank you for that, looking forward to not having Capt. Creepy breathing down my neck in the near future. ^^
  15. I'm definitely looking forward to the Mistral weaponry..That will be a game changer, especially for campaigns such as blueflag. The Ka-50s and Hueys will learn to fear me! :D
