  1. Instinct and intuition are different things and are causing different reactions. Especially considering the startle and surprise effect when entering an unintentional spin at very low altitude and the danger of immediate death. This has very little to do with stupidity etc.
  2. Ok, so are you talking now about turn rate or turn radius? Two different things. Btw, concerning AF447 there's a lot more to it than a superficial assumed simple pilot error. There were additional facts which were unknown at the time of this accident which contributed to his reaction.
  3. It might only be 'counter intuitive' to a gamer or armchair pilot with zero experience and zero knowledge about aircraft and aerodynamics.
  4. Why is this counter intuitive??? Suggest you do a lot more research for both issues, since neither 'explanation' makes sense.
  5. What's a random touchdown? Although I haven't flown MiG-29s IRL , I've flown other mil jets and the A320 and I can easily imagine that the Mig-29 is easier to land than an A320 IRL. You simply can't compare the A320s comparatively low pitch authority, plus the FBW flare mode etc. with a 'real' aircraft with powerful flight controls and a natural and immediate feedback. Apart from the high sensitivity due to the missing force and the short travel of my joystick, I do find that the DCS MiG-29 is easy to grease on.
  6. Thanx a lot for posting this essential piece of additional info. :) No problem in landing the MiG-29 here either.
  7. Oh, that's great, thanx :) Btw, the main reason why I dislike the term video game in this context is, because IMO it's simply inappropriate and impolite to start the interview with an insult towards the developer.
  8. You happen to know the difference between a game and a video game? Btw, if you consider DCS a game, you are missing a lot while 'playing' it.
  9. So DCS is the same as Ace Combat? Seriously?
  10. I've stopped listening to the interview when the Grim Reapers guy said right at the beginning that until 5-6 years ago DCS was only a video game.....
  11. Don't understand this question since you quoted bkthunder, who's obviously referring to the F-5E.
  12. I agree with BIGNEWY. Not only does it take a very strong wind to really affect the flight model, it can be circumvented by flying without (significant) wind. It's by far my most flown aircraft in DCS. Compared to all the other sims, handling, feeling, realism, immersion and smoothness is a delight :)
  13. I am in a position to judge the accuracy and I'm not 'having a beef'. Prop aircraft simulation simply isn't a strong point of DCS. That's all.
  14. Where? In your video the F-5 was definitely not in a flat spin.
  15. The effects are there, but the simulation is, lets say, questionably.
  16. Yes. Confirmed, required rudder input changes with airspeed, but that shouldn't be the only factor as it is right now. 'good' engine model sounds different than 'on point' ;) After my experience with the MiG-21 and watching their Eagle promotion video it was obvious to me that downloading the Eagle would be a waste of time. The Yak-52 is apparently a much better product, nevertheless I haven't come across a single convincing prop driven aircraft in DCS concerning the prop specific simulation.
  17. An old ex WWII pilot instructor explained it to me that way (although not with the Shinkansen) when I made my glider pilots license many many decades ago. IMO still the best and easiest explanation, but obviously it doesn't always work ;)
  18. I do live in Europe, but flying with you sounds like a rather dangerous idea. FYI, I was flying gliders for many years in the Alps and for a few years I even owned 1/3 of glider. Strangely, I never observed anything like you and 'nearly' all pilots you know did. Btw, if your theory is correct, why don't all pilots you know confirm your observation?
  19. Sorry to say, but if you are a real pilot since 20 years and you (still) believe that wind affects the aerodynamics/performance your lack of knowledge is shocking. You are really lucky that you didn't run into serious problems until now!
  20. Again, it doesn't matter. A goldfish in its goldfish bowl, which sits on the table in a Shinkansen, can change his direction in far less than a second and he will not be affected at all, despite the fact that he's moving along at 170kts.
  21. If you compare the RPM/MP values with the real Yak-52 you would notice that the engine dynamics are definitely not on the point. So in the real Yak you don't need any rudder at full power on the edge of a stall?
  22. That's a bad idea since it would only prove that you are exactly one of the victims of this common misconception. I really don't understand why you are trying to suggest something you don't know anything about and you are apparently not even trying to understand. This 'classic' (steady) wind problem has been discussed numerous times in DCS and countless other forums.
  23. The Yak-52 is similar unrealistic. You don't need rudder during a loop, close to the stall etc... Tried the Fw190 and that one isn't convincing either, neither on ground nor in flight.
  24. Thanx: :) Although I'm not sure if the results from this highly swept high aspect ratio wing with its supercritical airfoil can be applied to the short straight CASA wing.
