  1. Are you loosing your rotor every time you takeoff? You might have some double mapping taking place. Have you tried deleting the presets from all your controllers or just the x-52?
  2. Outstanding job brother! Definitely keep us posted on the progress :)
  3. Those gunnery missions are so much fun in VR...hell, everything is fun in VR. I can spend hours just hover taxing around airfields and have a blast lol. I really need a good set of dedicated heli controls though. I can probably wait on a cyclic but a collective will probably be my next big purchase. Maybe come summertime I can save up some money to pick one up. I emailed rich from Komodo not too long ago and he's finally getting some help with production and said his turnaround times should be drastically shorter come January timeframe. we'll see if hegy or anyone else in the community can come up with a better solution. Lynx's button boxes seem to be a great solution for the VR crowd who still like To have the touchy-feely of physical switches. I can see putting a couple in the overhead panel and a couple in the center console to use for start-up, armament system and lighting.
  4. Thanks guys! I am really enjoying the Rift! VR is the real deal and I can't wait to see how much VR improves in the next 5 years. Like others have mentioned, the resolution isn't the best but the immersion you get highly outweighs the resolution. I have been spoiled with 4K gaming but the experience you get from VR is 10x better imo. The big question now is what do I do with my pit? Do I halt all improvements now that I have a Rift or do I continue? After a lot of thought the pass few days, I'm going to make them both work together. Why choose one over the other when I can have the immersion of VR while also having the tactile feeling of actuating physical switches in a simpit. Besides my simpit building won't end until I get my hands on a fuselage :) Until then I guess I'll enjoy the Rift when I fly alone and the simpit when I fly with the kiddos and friends.
  5. Where do you guys go to enable and disable ASW?
  6. Outstanding job Lynx!
  7. Well fellas....things just got real interesting!
  8. Looks great brother but I concur with Mr Burns! Your adventure has just begun :)
  9. Sounds like a interesting project!
  10. The obutto revoltion rig is finally phased out! It makes the sim look much more cleaner and less congested. I posted the obutto for sale locally and it sold in one day. Now deciding if I should use the cash for a collective or a Rift ;)
  11. Todays update: painted/installed the overhead panel stand and mounted my tv on the wall to eliminate some of the cluster from the obutto stand.
  12. Decided to scratch the overhead console stand and go with something with a smaller profile and cleaner looking :). Not sure if I wanna paint it OD green or just stick with black.
  13. Lynx is almost done with the MIP plans! Looking forward to see some more huey pits in these forums!
  14. Today's update: the Huey seat sat two inches lower than what I liked so I had a local machinist build a base for the seat and he also welded my warthog mount directly to the seat. Totally digging this seat :) The last photo is a picture I took yesterday of the two pillars that I previously built for the cabin. I just stacked them up to give me a visual idea of how I wanna build the overhead console stand.
  15. Exactly! That beam that stems between the two front windshield will connect to the overhead panel.
  16. Lol.....next is mounting an m-60 :) The chair is surprisingly comfortable with the seat cushions. The obutto seat hugs the body better but it doesn't provide much cushion. I will be adding an additional layer of memory foam from an old mattress topper that should add some additional comfort for long gaming sessions. A set of Huey controls are definitely needed but a VR headset might be next on the list unless Oculous will be releasing their CV2 within the next couple of years. I started framing the overhead console today and I'm not too happy with they way things are looking. The footprint of everything is too big and looks ridiculously out of place in my mancave. I am now debating going with a simple pillar directly behind the center console that will hold the overhead panel like picture below.
  17. Here is a picture of the armored Huey seat installed
  18. Couple updates to report: I started working on the cabin today and made some progress. Next will be working on the structure that will hold the overhead console. Once the structure/skeleton is complete, I will begin with adding thin aluminum panels for the skin and painting everything OD Green. I ended up buying that armored huey seat so the next few days I will be giving it a good clean and some fresh paint. I planned on adding the sliders from the obutto seat but the entire seat is lined with steal so its going to be a pain in the ass trying to mount those badboys.
  19. Thanks! Starting to brainstorm how I'm going to build the enclosure! :)
  20. Thanks for the input fellas. I've given it some sought and I think I'm going to go with the actual seat. I did the cost analysis and it would have cost me about $60 dollars to make one (plywood, box of screws, bottle of wood glue and paint) plus about 3-4 hours to build it. Having a real seat will look pretty sweet and I can take measurements of it to share it with the community if they would like to build one. This seat in particular is missing the armored "wings" but it should be easy to replicate them.
  21. I wanted to get some of your feedback on a armored huey seat I came across locally. I am debating if I should purchase it or not. Its in pretty rough shape but nothing some black paint cant fix. Its extremelly sturdy and heavy but I will need to build a base for it. The seller is asking for $100 but I can also build one for alot less. What do you guys think? Should I pick it up or just build one?
  22. Added some eye candy to the instrument panel today. I finally found a compass card holder and designed the compass card using excel. I also added a couple decals to match 229th's skin mod.
  23. thanks for the awesome input gents! my helmet arrived early and it looks like the most cost effective route is to take my old logitech g35 headset and tear it down to make it work with the helmet. I should be able to isolate the speakers and mic to make it work without having to remove any of the original parts of the helmet. The ear cups are fairly deep so I dont think it would be too hard to make everything fit. If for some reason things dont work out.... I'll have an awesome piece to display in the mancave!
  24. Thanks for the assistance! It looks like they sale adapters that are pretty much plug n play that should work just fine. The only unknown would be the quality of the headset in a helmet that was made 40+ years ago lol. I have a extra logitech headset I might take a look at and like you said..install the parts from that. Should be a fun project!
  25. I have a SPH-4 helmet with a mic that should be arriving early next week and I was wondering if it would be possible to make it work with Teamspeak/DCS? Has anyone tried this? The mic has a standard 3.5mm jack similar to what you would find in a guitar cable. I know it's a little over the top to flying with a helmet but I'm currently building a Huey cockpit and a helmet will help add to the whole immersion experience.
