  1. Does anyone know where I can purchase these plans? I tried PM'ng flim but no luck :(
  2. Quick update gents...Lynx has begun working on the files for the Main instrument panel! I just wanted to say how great the support has been from this community. It's only been 30 days or so since my first post asking for community help and already things are starting to come together FINALLY for the helicopter community! Here is a quick picture of my current Huey build in progress. If you guys are interested, I plan on starting a personal build thread. I think it would be nice to see a helicopter build thread in these forums lol. Also once Lynx begins rolling out his Huey line he will be starting a new thread as well.
  3. Awesome Hans! Thanks for sharing! soon you'll be able to add a full instrument panel to your setup ;)
  4. Thanks for the awesome feedback Swiss! You've mentioned some great points. I've also heard great things about Rich's controls and customer service. But to me..having a solid and authentic feel is really important. The best example is really the thrustmaster warthog stick....it looks and feels like the real deal!
  5. If you don't mind, what are your thoughts on the build quality of the collective? Does it have a sturdy solid feel to it? I know the collective head is 3D printed but I'm curious if the shaft is made out of aluminum or stainless to give it that authentic feel. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Keeping my fingers crossed! It would be awesome hitting objectives with a crew of 4!
  7. I've gotten some PM's requesting information on the Huey we are using for the measurements so I wanted to share a few pics. It has the markings from the 114th Assault Helicopter Company which did some heavy time in Nam but I'm not entirely sure if it's an actual bird from that unit or just added during the restoration process. There wasn't a AC call sign on the instrument panel so it's hard to see where this bird has served. I'll ask the museum on my next trip out there!
  8. How much did shipping run you? Did you go with the cyclic and collective combo or all 3?
  9. I Currently have a 22" monitor attached to the center mount that is temporarily displaying gauges until my real Huey panel arrives. The plan is to mount 10x30x1" plank directly to the center mount and then mount two 22" monitors side by side to the plank to cover the entire Huey instrument panel. I also made a quick diy speaker mount for the rear speakers. Just a wooden dowel, a "U" bolt, a couple pipe tie downs and a couple 4" pieces of 2x4 for the speakers to rest on. I can try to take a few more pics for ya if you would like! I currently have a center pedestal that I used for my bell 206 sim but the plane is to obviously build s Huey pedestal Later down the road to house the control panels. I really dig the obutto man and I'm sure you will also! There is soo many ways to modify and make this baby fit your favorite dcs module! I might even build a Huey fuselage around it! Lol
  10. Just a little sarcasm...that's all.
  11. No man, it's about $2K. You have to purchase the collective head and the base! Same goes for the cyclic....cyclic shaft and base are separate.
  12. They are awesome controls if your willing to wait 6-12 months. Its about $1000 USD for a collective and $1000 for a cyclic. They are awesome controls for sure but most of us dont have $2000 to spare for controls. I have no issues with my $250 warthog with extension. I am currently using a modified x-52 pro for my collective so that will be my next upgrade! OE-XAM also has outstanding collectives at under $500 but they currently only have controls for the bell 206 which really isn't a big deal for some. Keeping my fingers crossed that someone will soon release a quality collective at a reasonable price!
  13. Quick update Gents! After months of searching I finally found and purchased a instrument panel and glareshield! I had to donate a testicle for it :megalol:... but its going to allow us to make TRUE 1:1 accurate template for the community! It should be delivered within the next couple of weeks! The panel has obviously seen better days but I still haven't decided if I want to media blast and fresh powdercoat or just give it a good wash and to keep its original charm! which route do you think I should go with?
  14. Great work! Do you plan on making an actual collective or just the collective head?
  15. 10cm extension still available! $45 shipped
  16. Thanks bud! I was able to take a couple screen shots to use for reference later down the line! I wonder how hard it would be to build a fuselage? Lol.
  17. Just a guick update gents! spent today taking measurements and over 300 pictures of the huey. Its going to take me a few days to consolidate the measurements but the great folks over at Lynx.dk will be creating the free templates for us as well as providing 3d printing services for our huey pits. SUPER STOKED!!!!
  18. Thanks! What do you guys think about providing both a full size panel and a 2/3 panel (without copilot guages)? The instrument panel is 39" wide and some folks might not have that type of realstate in their desk or simpit.
  19. T6 aluminum in .125 thickness is what they typically use! You can purchase the sheets online at aircraft spruce! I put this panel together in less than two hours with the rough measurements I took a while back. its a 1/8" piece of mdf I bought at home depot for $5 and a drill with a couple hole saw's. I just did it to get a feel of what it would look like running helios. Obviously there would be bezels, switches etc... but I think you guys get the general idea of what we are trying to achieve for now.
  20. I saw your message! I should be able to get dimensions of the seat, center console, pedal height and width, length/diameter of the collective and cyclic etc. I'm gonna give the museum a call and see what the best time would be for me to take some measurements and of course a ton of pictures. I have a set of digital calipers that should help me dial in some accurate measurements of the gauges and bezels.
  21. Hey fellas! I posted this in the Huey sub forum but this section would be a better fit! I have been looking for months on several simpit/home cockpit forums and I have yet to see anything related to building a Huey cockpit. Some basic measurements but nothing like the level of detail for the A10 module. There are dozens of free and paid plans, cad/cnc files available for the a10 but absolutely nothing for us rotor-heads :( so here is what I would like to do and I am open to any suggestions as their is more than one way to skin this cat! - I live right down the street from an air museum with a huey so I have the ability and luxury to take pictures and measurements of just about anything inside the cockpit. I can create/trace the template onto a poster with all the measurement but I would need some assistance of someone tech savvy enough to help build this into a cad file or some type of cnc file that we can take to our local workshops to get one cut out of T6 .060 aluminum. So what do you guys think? Do you think there would be enough interest?
  22. Its debatable that VR will be the norm in the next two years. I've tried the Rift on DCS and although it is pretty immersive the resolution is utter garbage imo...but it might also be because I spoiled myself with a 4K 50" TV for my primary display :). Simpit builders love the tactile feel of having a physical cockpit, being able to actuate switches etc. I think VR would be awesome to throw in the mix every now and than but it definitely wouldn't be my primarily go to for simming. I've seen that thread you were referring to but nothing ever came from it and it died years ago. A huey instrument panel should be a pretty straight forward build...just slap a couple monitors behind the panel with helios and your rockin and rolling!
