Looking at your log I had two of the same errors as you.  They’re in a French Assets mod pack.  The ground units “IFV” and the “Toyota desert”.  I deleted that pack and was able to play a full mission last night.

The strange thing is, it only happens in the late afternoon. No problems in the evening and now I also just finished 2 hours working on my mission.

  4. +1 for the Nike Hercules. It is mandatory for the new Cold War map. It was the backbone of the air defense well into the 80s, Germany was basically littered with Nike sites (I had one a few km from my home). So how can it not be "time appropriate"?!?

Exactly! The enemy of good is perfect. It will be good...not perfect 🙂

Really looking forward to that file, as it will help us mission builders a lot. And I know how much work goes into it, I spent the last two days creating something similar for Lower Saxony alone 😉

Btw, do you happen to know, if ED will give us a Nike Hercules for the Cold War era? Imho it is absolutely mandatory.

I have both the NIKE-Hercules and the Patriot site
    image.png

Some are still obvious or history can show them, but others are not. And if I had a penny for the way the German government turns old missiles sites into windfarms or solara farms, then I would power my PC through this!

There's lots more to do, the issue is time, both my time and how much time has passed and when the sites were active and who by. We are talking generations since the Cold War and everything in the world has changed. The sites changed hands, from German, to US 3rd Army, back to German during the period 1945 onwards. One amazing example is an office in Nuremberg:
The SS HQ there was captured by the 3rd Army and called both the South Barracks and Merril barracks until 1992 when it went back to Germany and then went through changes until it became the Federal office for Migration and Refugees. This is an example, but these things changed hands, so the perspective of a modern German is that this is Germany, but from a cold war perspective, these places changed hands and capturing the accuracy is somewhat open to 'debate'. 🙂
In the same way, some Nike sites were replaced by Patriot sites especially after the withdrawl of Nike-Hercules in 1984 (approximately). So, those sites could be reused too. I must include the time before 1984 because it was so close to the start of the end and tells half the story, if that.

Basically all airfields changed ownership, often multiple times. You cannot cover that and imho one doesn't need to. Is it of any relevance for the Cold War map that for instance Ahlhorn was a RAF Base with iirc Typhoons and later Meteors? Barely anyone will be interested in the Luftwaffe Sabres and Noras there either. What matters for a cold war map are the Hueys and A-10s.
Same for Geilenkirchen. It is the NATO AWACS base, not an RAF base. And so forth.
About Patriot - I can only speak for Niedersachsen, but none of those Nike bases were converted to Patriot use before the end of the cold war, from the data that I have seen.
What I mean by this, don't make your life harder than it needs to be 😉

But its not approximate by any means, its a nightmare. Here is a Nike-Hercules site in 2024:

    image.png

It's a solar farm. the site was decommissioned in the eighties. This is one of hundreds of examples and how much work it takes now that the landscape is being covered up. A lot of installations like Kasernes are now Lidl or housing. The people that served in them are at least 55 years old. What I need is the coordinates of ones I dont have, which is even harder than starting from scratch. 😕
    Hope that makes sense.

I am curious, is this the correct site? As a few kilometers west there is an actual SAM site, converted to Patriot by the looks of it.

I switched it off about a third of the way back to base. I agree, the spinning bearing needle wasn't very helpful :), but at least seeing the distance and time was. Also, setting the correct QNH (I know where, but it doesn't work, I think).

Yes, QNH doesn't work yet. input of MG doesn't work at all and if I try to enter 1012 MB (the equivalent to 29.88), it shows 1050. I am looking forward when all this is implemented, also the full radio navigation 🙂

  9. Insurgent fighters have mined the vital supply routes from Jalalabad to FOB Thunder and thereby cut off the base from being replenished by road. Your task is to fly 5 palettes with about 10,000lbs of supplies from Kabul to the base and on the return evacuate 6 wounded servicemen. Due to the insurgent activity, you will be escorted by Reaper21, an AH-64D Apache.

    Mission features:
    • ~100 quality voice overs
    • custom kneeboard pages
    • internal cargo transportation
    • dynamically changing visibilities
    • custom ATC (do NOT use ingame ATC)
    • detailed manual
    • seperate audio crew briefing (thanks Nathan!)

    Your requirements:
    • flightplan handling in the CDU/MFD (you will have to fly the reverse route on your way back to Kabul)
    • setting radio frequencies on the ARC186 and the CDU
    • use of A/A TACAN (not mandatory, but helpful to keep the proper distance to Reaper. How to is included in the manual)

    Enjoy!

Oh thanks for responding! I'm using this version: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334349/, is there a newer one I missed?

Edit - I used my brain and went to look at all your uploads and found the hotfix you uploaded in Jan 2024, apologies.

The campaign file includes the bug fix as well, but only if you downloaded it after 6 January 2024.
I had a look at the loadout issue, it seems they added these new double racks for the inboard pylons. I assume that's why my original loadout was invalidated.
I will also look at the radio presets that Proper Charlie mentioned above. I don't want to rule out that I messed something up, when I swapped the F1CE to the F1BE in those missions.
If it is an isolated problem with just one or two missions, I will supply hotfixes, if it turns out to be something general, I'd like to wait for the F1M, as I will have to update the campaign then anyway.

Not sure if I am just doing something wrong, but the radio presets in Appendix B don't seem to match what I actually have in the plane... maybe Aerges changed something in the module which caused all the radio frequencies to be reset?

Either way, I'm enjoying the campaign, and can change the radio presets in the mission editor for missions that need it anyway, so no big deal.

    Thanks for the missions. 👍

I will have a look, thanks for pointing out!

    Having some issues with #B07:

First, there's no loadout on the aircraft at mission start. The instructions mention belougas so I load them on all pylons with the rearm menu

Second, I'm pulling up to 40 degrees at the green smoke but the bomblets are landing on the town about half way between the green smoke and the red smoke (target).

Has ED updated the belougas since the last release maybe? Or am I just bad? (Very possible)

This is strange, sounds like something was changed (or my sausage fingers messed something up). I will check it - thanks and sorry for the trouble.

    21 hours ago, its_me_fuzzy said:

Alright, so I overcame the issues with #B07 by using the alternative attack profile with SAMP-250s instead of Belougas.

However, I've just done #B09, the LGB strike, and, probably because of changes to DCS's fusing and arming windows, the laser code is not set correctly on mission start. Its on the default 1688 instead of the 1588 the drone is using. This could be fixed either by just briefing it or updating the default in the mission editor.

Great campaign otherwise, I'm having a good time!

Hmm, I fixed this in January 2024. When did you download the campaign?

...and a collision model to register hits, a heat signature for the FLIR system and it would be nice, to have civilians, that do not stand out if in a scenario with insurgents.

The key is mostly to have the challenge, to identify combatants as legitimate targets and ensure to NOT drop bombs, rockets etc  near civilians. Even the standard insurgent model without any weapon would go a long way, to enable us to do this.

The aspect of "populating the map" is a bonus, but the simulation of ROE is definitely more important.

Fully agree. Civilians are needed to create immersive missions, where the player has to think twice if or how he attacks a target.

    Woop!

Speaking of ops (and dealing with my frustration of the last DCS patch needing a fresh install, which took up all my available 'flying' time till my next leave)...

...an expanded mission set/campaign for the Loach would be make the mod such a complete package 🙂

There are so many cool cargos, stunningly immersive assets, and already a couple of good tutorials and the Playground mission already...so I want more!

Partly this is greed, I know, but also so much work has been done I do think it might be worth seeing if a mission designer would be interested in making a set of scenarios to show it all off. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes the idea of designing my own missions but in reality spend limited free time learing aircraft instead of learning the mission editor, and so miss out on a lot the mod has to offer. My loss, but a pity not to make the most of the Killer Egg.

I'll hope they'll forgive the namedrops, compliment intended, but the likes of @Chef98's Move Order campaign and @Don Rudi's Bronco and Cedar Spear missions (and FAC/spotter scripts) put them at the top of the list of those I'd be excited to see getting involved with the OH-6A. I won't tag those like Reflected, who I know from the Lancaster mod are keen to help but unable to due to their work.

Just a thought whilst I look forward to trying out v1.51 🙂

Thanks for the kind words 😊

I didn’t have the time yet, to have a look at the latest iteration. But I sure am interested in making something for the OH-6A. I will have a few inspirational beverages 😉

I agree there needs to be at least one Iranian airbase in one of the detailed areas! Of course that's not enough to simulate in-depth scenarios from the Iran-Iraq war, but at least it gives you SOME possibilities to simulate Iranian defence scenarios or something like that.

If performance is an issue, by all means leave out Doha International for example.

I don't buy the performance argument. Syria has 51 airfields iirc, so many more than what is planned for this map. And as you see, just leave out the shiny eye candy International airports - they serve less purpose than these important military bases, imho.

  15. This map has great potential to recreate the famous Air battles, deep strikes and naval strikes of the Iran-Iraq war.

    TFB.4 Dezful

    TFB.5 Omidihyeh

    TFB.6 Busher

Would all be in the detailed areas of the map(s). Esfahan as an important base is only in the low res area, maybe a simplified version might be possible?  But even just TFBs 4, 5 and 6 would add a whole new dimension for the map and provide a natural playground for the F-4, F-5 and F-14.

    Please consider adding these. Thanks.
