  1. Thank you, guys! All of you. Got it pretty nailed down, an I'm starting to suspect that some of MY problems are actually flaws in the F-14 itself. Every time I go to look up something on HeatBlur, they're still referring to the Tomcat as "early release." Again, thanks! That's what these forums (forae?) are for - helping each other and promoting the hobby. I'm an old fart at 72, and sometimes it still frustrates the hell outta me!
  2. I've just recently got the time to apply myself to the F-14 tutorials, and hae aa few questions. I've got Chuck's Tomcat Guide and have read everything I can, but still have some questions. 1) I have my X-55 stick set up for wing sweep. Settings are Forwardd, Aft, Auto, and Bomb. Tutorial says set my wing sweep to Manual. Is pressing either Forward or Aft supposed to do that? There's no Manual button. When I press Aft, to put the wings back to 68 degrees when approaching the airport, the wings will not sweep back further than about 55 degrees, the setting for Bomb mode. The gauge says "Man", but the wings will not go back to the 68 degree position, no matter what. 2) What is the best way to slow down when approaching the airport? The tutorial starts out with the Tomcat at about 450 knots and the wings at 20 degrees (and for some reason, with full flaps, which I immediately lift), and puling back on the power takes time But trying to use the speed brake seems to do nothing, and the DCS system doessn't work, either. Can someone give me their method of slowing down efficiently when heading for an approach? I'm used to flying the A-10C and civilian A/C, and this F-14 is a real handful! Thanks,
  3. Just point me in the right direction. I've done everything I can to my controls, but can't seem to figure out how to apply modifiers to those controls. Where is the "how to" on this? Duh! Never mind! So many different manuals, so little time.
  4. Assuming this is the response to my query about getting the Jester wheel back, could you be more specific? There is no option on my Vaicom menu under the EX pulldown. And I have never disabled the menus on Vaicom or VA. Vaicom states that the Jester wheel has been disabled when using Vaicom, but when I now launch DCS andd the F-14, without Voice Attack, the Jester menu still doesn't come up with the "A" key.
  5. Giving Up...Can't Get Jester Back I have tried and tried and triied again, and I cannot get Vaicom to work with the F-14. I have a high-end headset with a good mic, and have no problems speaking clean English, but my failure rate is too high to be able to use this. Anyhow, I shut down Vaicom and Voice Attack, and restarted DCS and now I cannot get the Jester wheel back. Probably missing something, but please advise as to how to get my Jester command wheel to appear with the A key. Do I have to uninstall Vaicom?
  6. Just wanted to add that the updating of the keywords drove me up a wall. On my system at least, the entry box was blank, although I could see all the words when I moused over the field. It took me over an hour to realize that they were "invisible" and the delete and paste worked even though I couldn't see it. Why is that?
  7. Probably a stupid qyestion, but I can't solve it. I am running Win 10, the DCS 2.5 Beta, don't have Full Screen checked, but when I launch DCS, once it's open (appears as full screen anyway), I cannot switch out, either to the desktop (Win-D) or to another screen (alt-tab). I'd like to adjust my mouse, or my TrackIR once in awhile, but once I'm in DCS, I have to quit to do anything else. Any help out there?
  8. Hollywood, aside from Jester, what about the new regular commands for the F-14? Just starting it, and at start-up, I have to ask the Chief to connect the external power and air. There's nothing on the list for those two commands, plus the radio system is different, too. I'm lost!
  9. Still can't get Viacom to load, although VA works fine. But it may be an install problem. I had the older Viacom and decided to start fresh, so I deleted the Viacom folder and re-installed the new version per instructions. I hadn't had any chance to open it and install my new registration, yet when I launch VoiceAttack, it is showing "VAICOM PRO for DCS World. License:PRO" My old version was licensed, so it masy be looking at the wrong place for the new one. In any event, I need some guidance from Hollywood, maybe, to get this fixed.
  10. Nope! Didn't work! Next idea?
  11. I just downloaded and installed the latest app. Followed all of the instructions, and Voiceattack runs and loads the Vaicom Pro profile. Only problem is, Vaicom Pro will not open with the Lctrl-LAlt-C command. Any ideas?
  12. Thanks! Now I just have to find the registration keys!????
  13. Upgrade Cost? I'm running the older version of VaicomPro, along with the Chatter pack. Just noticed the upgrade while doing a refresher on YouTube. Don I have to pay again for this package, or can I use my prior registration to use the newer product? And will I have to do an uninstall/reinstall to get it working?
  14. Or a rag for the pilot!:smilewink:
  15. I also noticed, at least in the Hornet pre-release, that rain droplets were appearing INSIDE the canopy on the back of the HUD! This been fixed yet?
  16. Never mind! Somehow, my axis list got edited, and the HOTAS Slew controls were assigned to a rotary on my X-55 throttle. Soon as the aircraft loaded, the cursor immediately slewed up, constantly. Found the culprit and removed it.????
  17. Just downloaded the latest 2.5 updates, and went to set up the TAD on the A-10C. As soon as I made the left screen SOI, the map screen went crazy and started changing the map range. Never touched anything, but after it stopped, I tried using the DMS Down to change the range, and it didn't work. I tried running a repair on DCS, and it didn't fix the problem. As soon as the TAD is set SOI, it's hosed. Anyone else have any idea what this might be?
  18. I do get that "white noise", and since I didn't disable the menus, I get the list (F1-F10). I didn't turn off Player Voice, either, and I get what I say in the upper left, but no response. It's almost like I'm tuned to the wrong freq, but I haven't had the chance yet to actually look at the radio dials to verify that. You're right in that I should go over to the Vaicom forum and check there. I have registered both Voice Attack and Vaicom, and think I've set up my preferences there okay. Back to the research. Thanks for the reply.
  19. SO: I installed Voice Attack and Vaicom Pro. Read all of the manuals. Set up my 4 PTT switches on my X-55 Throttle. My A10C is set up with Easy Comms ON, so I expected the radios to be auto-tuned to where-ever I was starting off. But when I click the PTT for VHF/AM, I get the menu (I have Disable Menus turned off in Viacom), and ask for ATC (F5, I think) by voice. Nothing happens. It turns out that no matter which radio I select, there is no reply from the other side. I'm thinking that the radios are not getting tuned to the proper freqs. And then I read that Easy Comms may only work under the Gameplay mode. What am I doing wrong here? My mic is working fine, all commands are showing up fine in VA, but no response to any of my comms.
  20. Stupid question: I am trying to go through each tutorial for the A10-C. I was running 1.5 but am now running 2.5. Example: I start the tutorial on take-offs and flying. I take off, establish a climb on heading 300, and stop the climb when told. Turn to heading 40. At this time, the instructor seems to disappear. After a long pause, he finally tells me to climb to 12000. After that...nothing. There's supposed to be a dive, then a 360° left turn maintaining speed/altitude. Nothing. Any idea why the instructor is stopping his instruction? Or maybe how to make him continue?
  21. When, pray tell, can we expect to download this great new addition. I just pre-purchased it, too!
  22. I've already downloaded and set up Discord. I'll check out your server link.
  23. I'm working on learning every system in the A-10C right now. I prefer the sim over the gaming model myself. I'm using every YouTube video I can find to learn more about the Hawg. Now I just need to get on a server and see what interacting with other flyers is like. Still a newb at most of this, but I'm learning.:joystick:
  24. Hey, guys! Been lurking for a long time, and want to get involved in this multiplayer stuff. I've been a flight simmer since the 80's, so I know how to fly. But never been into military aircraft or dogfighting. Figured it was time to expand my horizons, so to speak. Been checking YouTube and Twitch and watching Grim Reapers and Ralphidude, for example, and now I'm wondering - do you guys use the gaming setting of your aircraft for these missions, or the sim setting? Seems that all that cockpit work in a "study" aircraft would diminish the fun factor. Secondly, how does one break into the multiplayer circuit? Any suggestions on where to start? I'm still doing the A-10C tutorials, and learning the weapon systems. But I'd love to get my feet wet somewhere.
  25. Well, while I didn't yet check to see if the space bar was bound to anything else, I do know that it worked for the first two lessons. And, lo & behold, when I started up the lesson in question, and squeezed the trigger, the lesson did continue. So I know now that the trigger will work. Next time I start things up, I'll check on the bindings to see if the space bar is assigned to anything, and let you know. Thanks!
