  1. Yeah, i'm thinking blue flag is going to be my go to server when it eventually comes online
  2. I've been getting into Multiplayer a bit more as of late however it seems as though the servers i fly on (104 and Open Conflict) are mainly comprised of the FC3 planes and the occasional A-10c for A2G. Are there any modules out there that can stand their ground in A2A against the likes of the Su-27 and F-15? I have the F-5e but that is severely outclassed in A2A against the above mentioned jets so i generally only use it as A2G and in the F-5 vs servers. I've seen a few Mirages flying around but not sure how they stack up.
  3. I would but have noo idea what i'd be doing. And i couldn't make a box as pretty as those. just wish they were flatter and didnt have the USB on the "bottom" if you have it face up
  4. Guess i need to practice a bit more and see what is causing the seeker drop after launch
  5. That's what i thought, however in the documentation and training it makes a point to show the radar locking procedures prior to missile launch. Or is this more just just making sure you're in range?
  6. Something I've been testing out recently is how good the missiles are at tracking with the radar in standby mode for a sneak attack. It seems very hit and miss and I'm not sure if it's something i'm doing or not. I can point my nose at an aircraft, get the missile tone, uncage the seeker and give it a bit of a lead. about 50% of the time if i fire the missile (still with the correct tone) it just fires straight and doesn't seem to track at all. I know it can be done or should you always use a radar lock before firing?
  7. As the title says above. Has anyone used the DSD button boxes? And if so which ones? I can see some of them are stated as being natively supported with DCS. Are they plug and play or do they involve some kind of set up to get the toggle switches to work? For those who don't know about them http://www.derekspearedesigns.com
  8. When ever the server restarts. It seems to start at 5:00am and slowly goes to day time over the course of the mission
  9. I've been messing around with the mission editor to get a feeling for it. I'm wanting to make a mission where it's your task to stop an enemy plane and artillery from attacking an airfield. however i want the airfield being attacked by the time you arrive. I'm unable to find a way to mark an attack target on an airstrip for AI or does there have to be some kind of ground unit that they are attacking?
  10. I've been reading through the Manual for the F-5e before i purchase it, and i've come across this before in the FC3 manual, it talks about caging and uncaging the missiles, bit i've not been able to find what the difference if between the two. Apparently the terms are used in the f15 manual but are wrong as it's referring to the boresight. Would someone be able to explain the difference between them and in which situations to use them?
  11. well i made a profile in the software but it doesn't seem to work in DCS it just tries to take the in game mappings even if there's nothing assigned to it.
  12. So i've been playing around with different control setups on my X52 (mapped in DCS itself) and while i think i have all my main functions assigned, i came to the realization that I'm only using mode 1. yet i have found no way to be able to use the other modes, setting up a profile in the soft ware doesn't appear to work, nor is there a way to tell DCS the controls are in a different mode. Is it possible to get the modes working in some way? Basically i want to try and remove as many commands away from the keyboard so i was thinking of have mode 1 as being all the regular flight controls/systems and mode 2 being made for startup procedures and mode 3 to be what ever i need it to be if it's possible to set it up. Has anyone had any luck with this?
  13. I'm still relatively new to DCS (about 40 hours or so) and currently only have the FC3 module. I've been flying the campaigns that come with FC3 to learn the planes and the basics before getting a full Fidelity module. I have a few issues with the f-15 that I've not noticed in the Russian planes. While it excels at BVR it feels pretty much useless at all other times. It bleeds energy way too quickly, even during shallow turns and once an su-27 in on your tail it's very difficult to lose them or turn the tide, doing a tight turn and dropping speed makes it far less maneuverable, therefore harder to get away. I know i'm not supposed to get into these situations, but like i said, i'm still learning. What's the best way to keeping distance between you and the enemy while still being able to fire off missiles, having enough time to react to missiles being fired at you and not allowing your self to get into situations that will end up with you being painted on the side of a mountain?
  14. Hi all. I've been trying to teach my self the BVR systems of the F-15 but there seems to be an issue that I'm not sure if it's supposed to happen or if I'm doing something wrong. I Set up a 1 v 2 mission with the enemy planes about 140nm away from me to give me time to scan them down using the VSD. I alternate between TWS and HI as they are set up to fly directly at me. Is my radar supposed to be able to find them before they are pinged on the TEWS? It seems no matter what range i have my radar set to (for example 160) they will not pop up until they are 40nm away from me. does the Radar have a max range of 40nm to pick up another plane and if so what is the reason that you would push it out past this? Does anyone have any good videos or documentation that goes into depth about how to use the VSD effectively?
  15. I've been slowly going through the campaigns in FC3 as i'm still very new to the game trying to get better before i go full sim. Im currently playing in Game mode and i've noticed something that im not sure if it's something to do with my controls or the planes. During take off and landing of the F-15 and SU-27 (the most noticeable), the aircraft seems to turn to one side of the runway and i have to use my rudders to stay straight, trimming the rudder doesn't seem to do anything. However in the MiG-29s it's perfectly straight with no input required. Is this "normal"? I'm using the same input controls for my flight stick on all planes, so I'm unsure why this occurs on some planes and not others. Unless it's just something special that the MiG-29 has?
  16. So i recently got my new Flight Stick and have been playing with it and absolutely love it. However now I'm looking to expand what i currently have to something more personalized. An idea i had was to use my Android tablet as either an input device or a monitor displaying the radar or something similar. Does anyone know of any apps that would allow you to create custom keys which are able to interface with my computer? For example make a few buttons that control different cockpit controls, things that i cant put on the flight stick due to running out of buttons or things that don't get used often enough. If nothing for android tablets, what about windows 10 tablets? I run DCS on my main Computer and have a little W10 tablet for side things.
