DCS SweetFX + JSGME Tutorial
Schwarzfeld replied to FireFox500's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'll post some screens in a bit from inside the cockpit (thats where the difference with SweetFX really shines) but here's a shot from a hop over Sochi in the 51 using the JSGME ready SFX settings I attached on page one: I took the F-86 for a spin over vegas this morning and I was supremely impressed with how much improved the SFX contrast tweaks make the picture look from inside the cockpit. -
If you look down at your center lower console when in the DCS 109K-4 cockpit, you will find a bomb mode selector switch, the aircraft can indeed carry two sizes of bombs in default loadouts as seen here:

DCS SweetFX + JSGME Tutorial
Schwarzfeld replied to FireFox500's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just for kicks, here's my personal settings in JSGME ready format, no setup needed just drop it in your JSGME folder and play, tested on 2.0.2 and 1.5.4. If anyone wants to publish this file on ED User Files, feel free to! SweetFX 2.0 ReShade 1.1.0.zip -
1.5.4 and Reshade with SweetFX
Schwarzfeld replied to TWC_SLAG's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I've posted a DL link for a JSGME version of SFX w/ ReShade included, and also posed a preset that I cooked up in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=172409 -
Let me know if I can lend a hand in any way, my grandfather flew AD-5s for VAQ-33 for a number of years. On the weekends I volunteer at a nearby warbird museum (all flying for the most part) and they've got an AD-4 and an AD-5, would be happy to provide photos or any other reference needed.

It might appear that way at some resolutions due to the LumaSharpen value; if your menu/gui/HUD text looks wrong, go into SweetFXSettings.txt and decrease the value for LumaSharpen, or simply disable it entirely - this feature sharpens the image based on the value input for it, if its enabled at the top (0/1)

Certainly not the likely winner, but... having logged time in real actual taildraggers, I have been in love with the Bf-109 since long before release version. My video will undoubtedly not win... but... I thank the devs for the module, it is outstanding. [ame] [/ame]

After a couple years learning this thing as it's gone through admittedly bumpy beta days, I really gotta say, I LOVE the 109 as it stands for release version. Having logged time in real taildraggers, I really think DCS has done the best job of realistically portraying how one actually handles on the ground... and the 109 just feels right. [ame] [/ame]

Okay guys - just playing with this a bit, I cranked up the contrast and dynamic saturation - thats about it. If someone else has a little time, take this preset I've attached below (see screens for reference of what it looks like in play) and see if you can use tonemapping or curves settings (or perhaps gamma lift, maybe exposure values?) to get a little more of the 'blah' grey tint out of the image. Bear in mind I was flying under live current weather for KLAS which is pretty cloudy so that probably is why one of those images looks a little greyed out! SweetFX_settings.txt

Speaking of metal surfaces, now if I could just figure out how to fix all my F-86 skins that are ruined by the BORT # after the latest update, same with the MiG-15 and 21 :**(

Yep there certainly is: [ame] [/ame] Also check the SFX site and forum: http://reshade.me/forum/general-discussion/295-is-there-a-guide-for-creating-presets https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/

ACK! Sorry, I neglected to note the developers left the splitscreen value set to "1" in the settings file - here's a fixed JSGME ready mod folder, replace the other one with this entirely. Maybe someone wanna put this one on User Files since its tested to work now and I fixed the splitscreen value lol sorry guys! SweetFX 2.0 ReShade 1.1.0.zip

FYI I've attached an updated version of the JSGME ready folder for this, latest version of SFX and ReShade, with the DLL renamed for DX11 use, tested and runs properly. From here on out, its on us to start making new SweetFX settings txt files to tweak the appearance I'm assuming... I remember in Skyrim with SweetFX there was an in-game GUI, I think we brought it up with F11 - I dont see anything in the readme for that, does that functionality still exist? SweetFX 2.0 ReShade 1.1.0.zip
-
Step by step would be to: Download the zip I posted on page 1 Drag & drop that folder into your JSGME Folder Go into that folder, rename the file "ReShade64.dll" to "dxgi.dll" This will allow ReShade to run via DX11, give it a shot see how it goes...
-
Double check SFX 2.0 as noted above on page one with the DXGI.dll edit, I totally forgot about that since the version change moved everything to DX11, that may solve the issue. Honestly it would be nice to get a contemporary DCS 1.5.4/2.0.2+ SweetFX database going, being a graphics guy, in my opinion, the default DCS engine looks fantastic obviously, however its contrast is too low and so is it's saturation.
-
Actually they're in 1680x1050 lol, a little bit of photochopping here and there to crank the contrast but with ReShade 2.0/SFX 2.0 running properly it will tweak the contrast for you. Also, Mustang's experimental cloud shapes do help the look quite a bit. Also, here's the sweetFX thread, it hasn't been touched in a while though.... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=126200&page=7

The best DCS vid I have ever seen
Schwarzfeld replied to REDEYE_CVW-66's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Sweet fancy moses that was awesome -
Its possible thats why I wasn't noticing much difference; perhaps the 2.0.2/1.5.4 update has rendered the system more or less incompatible with SweetFX 2.0 - 1.5.1 worked the best in the previous versions, but I can't make SFX 1.5.1 run on either DCS install without DCS barfing, sorry. Might have to tinker around a bit and see what you can make work.
-
It's a graphics engine post-processing filter system that runs a wrapper (DX9) DLL, it will not have any effect on multiplayer server integrity checks or paid campaign content in any way.

The last time I tried to use SFX 1.5 on DCS 1.5.4 the game flat wouldn't load, I got a black screen. I tried 1.5 on DCS 2.0.2 and it did the same. Sweet FX 2.0 w/ ReShade seems to run okay, but as far as profiles/tweaks and settings, there really aren't many current/new ones for SFX/RS 2.0... Here's one that I use, not sure how much difference it really makes though, it's pretty light in terms of tweaks... the attached zip at the bottom of my post is a JSGME version, do NOT manually install it, you'll regret it the next time an update hits, trust me!
