  1. I think that DCS:BS has a lot of potential to create not boring missions/campaign that still has not been explored. Campaign Deployment and GOW are way "quick cooked" but worth going through in the begining. Actually I'm working on campaign that woud be different from the two: - I'm trying to follow some storyline - A pilot (player) has to know the flight manual seriously. Not just startup, flight, lock and shoot. How about to prepare a flight plan by pilot himself that will be sychronized with given data, times and informations. Hopefully will finish it this year
  2. :) Well, I am able to hover without Hover mode very well. But as there is option to use this function, why to bother with manual hovering (I thought till now) Disengaging altitude hold channel while in auto hover is my almost routine immediately after engaging autohover. Seems that good way could be to engage auto hover, wait till the chopper stabilizes itself, trim and then turn off the autohover.
  3. Viper, thanks for explaining. I think that's it. So once I'm in hover the trim should be used more often (simply said)? ...yeah the landing was quick :P
  4. No, rotor RPM is OK. There is nothing else being shut down but autopilot channels. Situation is very simple. I'm hovering (hover mode on) and moving shkval to another target. All of sudden AP channels are off and chopper is falling down. No chance I hit somethig accidentally. In that time I was only manipulating with hat to move the shkval.
  5. It happened to me several times already. But everytime I thought it was due to low altitude (to close to ground). But this time there is no obvious reason to me. I was just in hover finding another target, focused/zoomed on shkval screen, when suddenly the chopper started to pitch up without limit. Can play the attached trk. It happens in 13:39. Any reason for this? Or it is a bug? Thanks couldnt attach here so uploaded to http://www.mediafire.com/file/nzwdtnmmnin/suddencrash.trk
  6. There will be a patch for BS as well (have read it somewhere in the forum)
  7. You did a best possible decision ;) Enjoy!
  8. First Welcome! Which module? well I think it's clear enough. If you do prefer choppers there's no better choice than DCS:BS If you don't prefer choppers but quite like them still recomend you to get DCS:BS. If you hate choppers there's no other option but wait for the A-10 (or try other sim to learn basics, principles and so) Average time needed to fly? Well, it's individual from person to person. Simply said as soon as you gain proper feel for the stick and throtle (cyclic and collective), get familiar with the basic aircraft physics. Just to fly, you can manage it in couple of hours (one day). Note: My girlfriend's first flight was using red/blue glasses for 3D effect. She successfully landed only with broken front landing gear. Off course with my verbal assistance ;)
  9. No problem switching cockpit language EN>RU>EN>RU.... here. Patch 1.0.1c EN installed over clear unused download version
  10. Found it. This is much better explanation (from patch ReadMe): S-8OM – illumination rocket. Once fired, the rocket flies a ballistic trajectory. After 17 seconds, the nose section separates, a drag chute opens and the illumination flare begins to descend at a rate of 8.2 m/s. The flare burns for 35 seconds. The S-8O (OM) illumination rockets are designed to increase the effectiveness of aviation and other battlefield forces in nighttime conditions by providing artificial illumination of specific areas of the terrain. Thanks
  11. I found these rockets do nothing. There's even no explosion once they hit target. No 2 million candles iluminating area as written in the manual: "The S-8O and S-8OM are used for illumination of the target area. On impact they emit 2 million candles of visible light for 35 seconds." Am I doing something wrong?
  12. Be prepared for some FPS hit. On my config it is around 15 - 20 (win 7 x64) in free flight. Heavy missions will be probably worst.
  13. I have tried the R/B glasses... Its unbelievable experience for free flying!!! Hovever it is not usable very well in missions. The HUD has not proper displaying "depth". It is displaying as a drawing on transparent planar foil. It means you are almost not able to point on any target e.g. while firing the cannon. I'm not sure, but I assume that real HUDs are set to infinity. So no matter if you are looking with just one eye or both the HUD points to the same place still. Some images....
  14. C'moooon. The answer is easy... upcoming AH-64 can't run on 32bits :D
  15. press " ' " key while in the mission (on the left from enter) It shows you acctual mission accomplishment status
