  1. Ah ok. Looks like Wiki needs an update then.
  2. Yeah exactly. And even on something like Blue Flag, we're likely to see F-14 on both Red and Blue sides (much like the Mirage is on both). Should be fun. Can't wait to take the bombcat for a spin :-)
  3. That IFF may be a responder that tells other aircraft not to shoot you. The F-14A radar may have not had the ability to determine whether a contact is friendly or not. That info probably came from the AWACS instead. Im guessing here. I'm not disagreeing with you. Also, it may seem crazy to not have IFF but as you can see, the USN had the long range missiles for decades and never used them, so maybe not such a big deal in reality. In a sim environment though, where everyday it is the apocalypse, its a different story :D
  4. From wiki: F14 page "The participation of the F-14 in the 1991 Operation Desert Storm consisted of Combat Air Patrol (CAP) over the Red Sea and Persian Gulf and overland missions consisting of strike escort and reconnaissance. Until the waning days of Desert Storm, in-country air superiority was tasked to USAF F-15 Eagles due to the way the Air Tasking Orders (ATO) delegated primary overland CAP stations to the F-15 Eagle. The governing Rules of Engagement (ROE) also dictated a strict Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) requirement when employing Beyond Visual Range weapons such as the AIM-7 Sparrow and particularly the AIM-54 Phoenix. This hampered the Tomcat from using its most powerful weapon. Furthermore, the powerful emissions from the AWG-9 radar are detectable at great range with a radar warning receiver. Iraqi fighters routinely retreated as soon as the Tomcats "lit them up" with the AWG-9" AIM-54C page: "Despite the much-vaunted capabilities, the Phoenix was rarely used in combat, with only two confirmed launches and no confirmed targets destroyed in US Navy service, though a large number of kills were claimed by Iranian F-14s during the Iran–Iraq War. The USAF F-15 Eagle had responsibility for overland combat air patrol duties in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, primarily because of the onboard F-15 IFF capabilities. The Tomcat did not have the requisite IFF capability mandated by the JFACC to satisfy the rules of engagement to utilize the Phoenix capability at beyond visual range. The AIM-54 was not adopted by any foreign nation besides Iran, or any other US armed service, and was not used on any aircraft other than the F-14." The later models maybe had IFF, like the D, as you point out.
  5. Soooo. The F14 doesn't have IFF. So MP be like: 1. F-14 spike on RWR 2. Sh1t!! 3. Go defensive 4. Oh, was friendly 5. Go to 1.
  6. I also get the same. If you look at the framerate stats you'll see the 'simulation' part is using a lot of the frame time. Weird.
  7. *Shut up and take my money*
  8. Its from going too fast. I blew my tire on the Mirage, was going around 180kts on the runway, back wheels still on the ground. The A10 probably has trouble going fast enough ;-) I've been blowing the front wheel on the Su25 too, that seems to happen when I turn too sharply while taxiing. Annoying.

    Mirage F1

The AZ's systems are still classified and the IP for it is owned by some South African company. So yeah, we getting nuffin' there.
  10. Click the "DEST" button on the INS panel then enter the waypoint number e.g. DEST -> 0 -> 2. There is also a keybinding you can bind to your HOTAS. I forgot the exact name for it but I think it is *somethin* waypoint *something* next/previous.
  11. Hey thanks for this. Its really great. Not sure where to put bug reports. I tried doing different air to ground missions in the M2000 and I'm having trouble getting the JTAC / laser / GBUs to work together. Everything seems correct but I don't think the laser gets switched on at all. This is on 2.0.4. I was running 2x Matra, 2x rockets and 4x GBU-12.
  12. Not true, at least that dry lake bed next to Groom Lake AFB, is usable, even with jets. There's even some lines you can see from the air. Maybe some others too.
  13. Ah right. Yes, it is the same. However, it doesn't happen when you drop them one by one.
  14. Yes, in CCRP mode (GBU bombs, Mk82) you have to mark a point on the ground every time. (However, this is not the case in 1.5.5, as I've explained above) In CCIP mode (Mk82S) you release on every trigger press.
  15. Hmmm, OK. Let me try to explain again. When you are in CCRP mode, bombs will only be dropped if: * Master Arm is On * Radar is On * TAS is selected * Bomb is selected on weapons panel * A point on the ground has been marked * The trigger is pressed when the release cue line passes the horizon line in 1.5.5, when you have selected 02, 04, 06 or 08 on the fuze panel and you have dropped a bomb (or bombs) already, bombs will drop when you press the trigger, without having to mark a point, and regardless of whether there is a cue on the HUD or not.
  16. Not sure if this is a bug but I believe it is. To reproduce, in 1.5.5: * Select > 1 bomb to release * mark point * release as usual * press release again Then on every subsequent press of the weapons release button another set of bombs are dropped. I believe in CCRP mode this should not be the case. When number of bombs to drop is selected as 00, subsequent presses of the weapons release do not release bombs, you need to designate a target again, which I believe is how it should be.
  17. Cool. Thanks for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. So it seems we're getting the AV-8B Night Attack variant. Any place we can see the armament and goodies it'll have?
  19. Happens to me too. I think it kicks you off if your ping goes too high. I live far away so it happens often :(
  20. Oooh, there's something you should keep in mind. The speed of sound (and you mach number) changes with altitude (temperature), also the drag and engine performance changes. Keep that in mind.
  21. This is probably a small thing to fix and not super important however, it can break immersion. When the aircraft has taken damage, it is possible to see right through it out the other side, where in actual fact there should be stuff inside that blocks the light.
  22. This must be in a dev build, the new CCRP cross and stuff isn't in 2.0 yet, which is what he was using here.
  23. I just want to add to this. Yes, the M2000C is mainly an interceptor and you'll find that most people use it for exactly this on Blue Flag and Open Conflict etc. However, the M2000C is a multirole fighter and as such it is able to deliver bombs and rockets with reasonable accuracy as would any other 4th gen multirole fighter. The fact that the French Air Force never used it for such a role is irrelevant, they had enough funds to have dedicated strike aircraft. In an alternate reality, an air force with only M2000C would certainly be using it for the A-G role too. This is all we're asking for here, We'd like to use the real M2000C capabilities to their fullest, because we can in our simulated environment.
  24. I think the missing crosshair correctly reflects the real aircraft. Not sure why the real one doesn't have it. Small, pedantic detail, the precision (grouping of bombs) is fine, the accuracy (how far from aim point) is not, but Zeus is working on it.
  25. I want to do this also, my username is difficult for people to understand and say on TS / SRS
