Having problems with a Frigate and the viggen
lemoen replied to kunterbunt's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
You must fly low. You can get plenty close enough to launch before the Moscow fires on you. I did this by flying at <10m above the water. My missiles missed the ship though. -
Any news about this special modes locking issue? In a furball this gets hairy (harhar).

yup.

We can use nightvision mods in Blue Flag? O_o

I wonder if the same problem is being experienced here as in the Mirage 2000. The 30mm shells all land short. I think the reason is that the air resistance is too high for those shells, and seeing this one uses the same ones it could be the for the same reason.

I wish we could make community maps. Spread the work, let us help.

Yeah, I set up a mission for myself to practice hitting the bunkers. The 4 excellent level Shilkas are crazy effective at low level. Tossing (using INS bombing) is difficult, the bunkers are small and need a direct hit from a mk82. You can drop a JTAC Humvee from a helo but you cannot specify the targets it must lase first, it chooses the nearest target first. Also, I don't think the SU25 can lase for the mirage. The A10 can, however. My best lone wolf strategy so far is to fly at 25k+ ft with the M2000 and then drop Mk82 (dive bomb) onto the bunkers, 4 at a time with minimum spacing. You need to know where the bunkers are because you probably won't see them from that high. You'll be launched on by the SA-8 and SA-3 but its doable like half the time.

Its not a useful loadout in general. Also, let's not mistake loadouts not used by an air force for unrealistic loadouts. They have their reasons. Our simulated combat arenas are different so we adapt in different ways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If it works then use it, as long as its not an exploit in multiplayer. In this case it is not so fair game. We can't really complain if it stops working though, the manual warns us that it may not work.
-
There is at least one mixed loadout that works. From outer to inner pods: magic, rockets, 2x mk82/mk82s, fuel tank This loadout allows you to carry 2 rocket pods and 4 mk82 / mk82s.

That was bait and you bit :P I do really want to bomb things though. -

It really seems that way. A pity. Gets boring shooting down Su27s with the Mirage all the time. Wish I had something exciting to bomb. -

Well, yes. But at the moment Blue Flag is biased toward CAS missions. The only strategic targets are at airbases and they are very small and very well defended but the majority of the ground targets are of the low-value and/or air defences variety. I can however see that the Viggen + Mavericks can be used for taking out some of the more dangerous SAMs at bases and FARPs though. Just its speed alone will make it way more survivable in a high threat environment. -
Yeaaahhhhhhhhh

Oh wow, I didn't know that. It doesn't seem to be used by anyone and I guess its not the easiest thing to do before the defenses are down. Challenge accepted }:-)

Hi All, Now that the Viggen's release is imminent, we'll be in a situation where Red and Blue will have 3 capable tactical strike aircraft (M2000, M29, Su27) and B(F5, M2000 and Viggen). Are there any plans to add tactical ground targets? I'm thinking along the lines of a set of hangers at an airbase where 'very useful ammo' (maybe vihkrs, mavs or SAR missiles) is stored and when destroyed denies the enemy the use of those weapons from that airbase until a repair crate is brought, say. Currently the ammunition never runs out, effectively. At the moment the ground war is totally skewed towards CAS and tank plinking and our fast jets are only useful as dogfighters and interceptors. I feel more variety and extra strategic options would take Blue Flag to the next level.

I tried the belougas against T-90s. They take a few hits to be destroyed. Maybe that's not too bad against a mainline battle tank for a cluster munition. Softer things like ZSU-23-4 and BTR takes a single hit to die. Easier to hit with than mk82 thats for sure;-)

Some of the newer models are probably better still. Gripen? Rafale? In DCS the Mirage is a lot easier to fight in than any of the others for a start. The FC3 aircraft are super simple but they've been simplified a bit. -
Missile seekers don't all work that way. The missile usually stays upright (using spinerons) and the seeker head spins. So if the heat source is off centre, it'll wobble about on the detector, so you can determine (without using a computer) in which direction the heat source is, because you know the seeker's angle at which the source is a maximum. Look up "Spin Scan". Kinda like the reverse of a beam rider. DISCLAIMER: I don't know if the DDM works like that, just pointing out you don't need a camera and a computer to do these things.

triple monitor FPS vs. single monitor FPS
lemoen replied to fitness88's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Its not surprising your framerate is dropping. Not only is there now 3x the pixels to draw on, there is also a much wider field of view, so more things are in view. Also, with only 2GB of memory on the graphics card a single 1080p monitor is going to be fairly close to using all the memory available. If you drop the resolution you'll see the rates improve again. You probably need a beefier graphics card here. -
Thanks for this feature. It bugged me that there's a switch I can throw to enable a something useful but it didnt work. In the Lemoen Air Force the 2000C is used as a multirole fighter and it is nice to know that there will be a bit more protection against those dang IGLAs while dissassembling enemy vehicles.

I would like to try that. I'm in a similar timezone but my ping will be rubbish.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!

Wiki's language shouldn't need interpreting, it should unambiguously state facts. WIP and will always be :-)
