  1. The next update has a fix for this (it'll work like a big bomb in MP for the moment). However, there's a wider issue in multiplayer with cluster bombs. They make the FPS tank in a really bad way. Also, 100m is too high for SA-19. You need to fly low, pop up into the launch height for BK90s then fly low again. Low on the modern battlefield means 10m or less. Hint: It's dangerous but safer than those SAMs.

  3. Here's a question. There's a rumour that the night vision mods will work on this server, which gives the non-nv equipped planes an advantage they probably shouldn't have at night. Is this true?
  4. I kinda like where DCS is going at the moment (besides the WWII / Modern split). I don't see the point in having ultra-modern starwars planes (F16 Block 70 / F22). Less and less flying your plane will happen and more and more using the gizmos. Taking this to an extreme will get us to the next evolution in war planes, which is automated planes without human control, which will mean we battle each other by coding them. I'm guessing few of us here wants to do that (I do want to but not in this game). I'd like to see the range of middle to late cold war era planes filled out. F16A (maybe early C), Mig23/27, 25, 29, A4, Phantom, A7, F111, Mirage F1, Su17/22 27, F18, F14, Mi24, Ah64A, Tornado, Jaguar etc. This way we can have battles that involve some gizmos but that still requires good piloting and hands-on skills and coordination between players. Having a push button that kills an enemy without fail at long range is boring for everyone. Along with all this we need some functionality implemented into DCS, stuff like better runway denial, more realistic AI (at the moment you can't really surprise them, THEY KNOW EVERYTHING), better damage modeling etc.

  6. In SRS there is a settings tab where you set your PTT buttons for the different radios. On the main page there is an input and output device selector. There is also a 'Preview sound' or something button you can use to test your mic input volume. Set this to something like -70% and try the preview sound thing. Twiddle the devices here until you can hear yourself, then you should hear the others. YOu can also hear the radio going click click when you push your PTT button (if your plane's radio is set to go)

    M-2000C vs. Su-27

    Erm, not really. Yes, the Su27 can launch earlier but the missiles are pretty easy to dodge in general if shot at maximum distance. Once you get within IR range, it gets tricky, the Magics have a pretty short range but are deadly, the SU27 can fire off-axis but the M2000 can turn better (initially anyway). I shoot down Su27s on Blue Flag way more often than they shoot me, biggest threat on red side is M2000 at the moment.

  11. Just tried the first mission. I found the target but it wasn't visible, I could see the wake in the water but nothing happened when I overflew it. Edit: It was visible on the radar though.
  12. This is cool. One comment. It would be much butter if you can cut out all the mission editor bits and just have the tone with the radar name. Play each for 5s or so. This will shorten the video and also make it easier to compare the different tones.
  13. The Mig21 is woefully outgunned by the more modern planes. Unable to find and fight modern planes and DCS's spotting system makes the tiny ground targets impossible to see. Not a good comparison to the M2000 in this case.
  14. I see. I highly doubt the radar thing though. I get locked and launched on before I even have the contact on radar even if I know where they are (via GCI). Regarding the m2000s fighting, well, that's something to take up with the mission designers. You can't take the M2000 out of BF completely, it IS the only full fidelity fighter we have. Maybe the solution is to work out a more believable scenario, that isn't a Russia vs the Rest scenario. Maybe we'll one day get to a point where we can drop the FC3 aircraft completely. At the end of the year maybe we can drop the F15 and use the F14 instead, or drop M2000 from red, add F14 to red or whatever.
  15. I would say fly faster than M0.9. Go as fast as you possibly can, the more speed (and altitude) the more energy (range) your missile has. You're still being poked by the M2000's relatively short radar lock range. Still, you can beat their long missiles and once you are in a turn fight with them you have the upper hand in your smaller, faster and more maneuverable plane (if you manage your energy)

It takes some skill to beat the Su27s and Mig29s even though their workload is less, you have to flip switches and stuff a lot in the M2000 as well as tilt the radar up and down to find your targets. Also their radars have a longer range, I get locked on and launched on before I can do so in the M2000. I think you overestimate how good the M2000 is, even though it probably is (rightly so) the best interceptor in the game currently. Defeating the SARH of the M2000 is basically a matter of notching them to lose radar lock. This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME the enemy notches. Try it.
  17. Still not sure why people complain or are surprised about the M2000's effectiveness. It is supposed to be very dangerous, being the most modern fighter in the setup right now and doubly so in Blue Flag where active radar missiles have been taken away. Even with SPAMRAAMS and whatever the Russian version is, it'll still be something you cannot just dismiss in DCS. The F15s and Flankers are not the sole proprietors of freedom in these lands.
  18. Unfortunately the runway bombing is only semi-useful. Some modules don't register the damage if they log in after the damage is done, also, they may or may not see the runway damaged. Others can take off over the craters and I don't think one can repair it. So its a bit hit and miss (harhar). Blue Flag in particular is unsuited for the Viggen but most MP missions are like this. What would be really cool is that bombing the hangars, say, will reduce the number of slots available for a type or take away radar missiles or fuel, until it is repaired. Give the protectors an actual high-value target to protect. Same for FARPs. At the moment you can go and try and drop a bomb on the SA-3 site, but that still leaves the million SA-8s, even if you make it there with the clairvoyant AI SAMs and MANPADs. Also, because cluster bombs are not enabled in BF, the Viggen's primary land weapon is not available. This effectively leaves you with the choice of lobbing Mavs/ARMs from an A10s and SU25s from afar and this is fun! but we could have even more options and strategies available to us.
  19. I've been raising this point too. The high value target strike missions aren't being implemented and the one ore two cases I've seen on MP servers it was basically an afterthought, tank plinking being the norm. The Viggen was meant for this kind of thing (and killing ships) but there are other planes that can do this too e.g. Mig29, Su27, Mirage, even L39, Hawk and C101 with more on the way e.g. F14, Mirage F1, A7, Harrier. I would very much like to see this. Also, runway damage and repairs need to be fixed so that we can use that strategically in MP.
  20. There should be some submarines, aircraft carrier, some frigates and destroyers. Look under USA and Russia when placing ships.

  22. Hi, I really like playing on your server. The battle for Moapa is particularly nice, however, seeing that the blue side is always quite well populated I usually choose red. Now, at the Mesquite Airport, one can spawn in 2x M2000, 1x Su25T and maybe some others. The second M2000 keeps spawning on top of a stationary Mig21. I'm wondering if there's a way to remedy this? Cheers!
  23. OK cool. Another question. I just made a mission with a bunch of planes taking off, taking missiles with them. Then, 16 Missiles of one kind was requested from the warehouse, I set the 'size' parameter to 1t. After a few minutes all the missing missiles were replaced. Does this parameter affect only fuel or does it affect weapons too or something else?
