So, QNH gives the altitude above mean sea level (when working out altitude from air pressure). QFE is the air pressure at the level of the runway or airfield or some other point on the ground. So you set your altimeter to that. These values are only valid if you stay close to the place where the pressure was known, air pressure changes with temperature, winds, weather etc. In your case, QNH and F10 map should be approximately equal, like you're seeing.

Yeah, the spotting is insane. Zoom back (wide fov) and stuff on the ground appears. Zoom in and at a point they change size and color and becomes invisible until you're much closer. Its angry-making and it reinforces mission design for BVR fights and guided munitions.

There is the terrain avoidance radar mode. Meant to be used in low visibility situations to not hit stuff.

Puts a whole new *spin* on the roll inertia thread...

I thought it would be nice to have a route planning app (web or offline) that can allow one to create waypoints, for e.g. the Viggen, and get their heights / qfe or to find the best route to fly below radar in a helo, from one place to another. This would be very useful on multiplayer where the kneeboard doesn't contain it. It would probably mean than you'd have to enter the values manually but hey. In order to do this offline, I'd need the terrain mesh lats / longs and heights. Is it possible to get this?

This is because the screens are very close to your eyes. For monitors we need less (but still more than 4k).

I'm inclined to agree. The other thing is that the guy who is doing the FM updates is a Mig 21 pilot in real life. I also feel that there is not enough roll inertia but this is just what I *think*. However, placing some 500kg of bombs under the wings should make it roll slower and add significant inertia, I haven't tested this yet but it is a sanity check. Software bugs happen, afterall.

One question what is the fidelity of M2KC flight model?

Blasphemy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sounds like the engine governer is off. Did you check that?

Ok I understand now. I misunderstood what you meant by training shots. Yes. Those allow one to start making some model of a missile's engagement zones and pK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Link? I'd like to see. I won't take too seriously the training shots, those are 'firing solutions' which means the missile seeker was locked onto target. That's only a small part of the equation of actually hitting the target. Like you point out, pK involves a bit more then saying 'bang you're dead'
-
We don't have a lot of data, which is the problem. The claims from manufacturers for their systems are probably slightly 'optimistic' and missile combat has been pretty much a non-event for decades now. There's been a bit of shooting here and there but not much and certainly not enough to know what the pK is for a given missile system in a given dogfight scenario.

NTTR Only and Mig 21 through DCS online store (NOT Starforce)
lemoen replied to Cavemanhead's topic in MiG-21Bis
You MUST deactivate your module. Starforce is the software that is part of the module that stops people from pirating it. Follow their instructions to deactivate, clean registry, update then reactivate your module. -
One question what is the fidelity of M2KC flight model?
lemoen replied to DaveRindner's topic in M-2000
Not sure, maybe because it was the only anti-runway weapon the French had available. Also, the M2000C was mostly used for interception and they probably didn't bother integrating Durandal with their systems. Also, flying over a runway these days is too dangerous. -
Yes, they do.
-
There *should* be Mirage 2000 updates in too, A2G Gun calcs, dispersion. So again, the changelog looks like it is incomplete.

Blue Flag runs on stable, so the BK90 wouldn't work. Maybe today's (7 April) patch will allow it to work.

The M2000 uses the BAP-100 anti-runway weapon. -
I saw that, yes, the Vietnam Sidewinders were the first generation and they sucked. However, I'm not sure even the Ps will get much over 50% if that. Expecting a kill per missile is a symptom of gaming ;-)

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Can have some important targets for fast jet strikes? -
Oh I see what you mean. Yes. It will crab due to wind in that way. What I meant was, you can get the ball in the middle, in the Mi8, by lowering/raising the collective (within reason) then trimming. I do this all the time.
-
Sometimes you have to to a china hat back (or boat aft I have ch stuff and not a TMW) to bore sight the mav before china hat fwd long slews it onto the SPI.

IFF's inner workings are secret but the way it works is not. You ping someone with a radar, signal with a message: "Please return the code", the IFF transponder then sends an encrypted message back. You can then match the transponder signal with the radar return. I'm all for at least setting the IFF transponder codes in the planes, but only the full fidelity ones can do this at the moment and we'll have to hand-wave away the difference between the NATO, Russian, US etc transponders. Also, people have issues with using the M2000s IFF already which works even if the plane you're painting doesn't have an IFF. So now we'd be able to get shot down because we forgot to switch on and configure the IFF. :D That said, bring it, would be great.
-
Sure, but you can make it not crab without that way too. If have a rubbish rudder system like mine its easier to balance it with the collective.

Ms and Js and I think. Whatever they had in Vietnam. The P is from the the same time period so I wouldn't expect it to be much better.
