  1. You are using too much / too little collective. Look at your attitude indicator, you'll see the ball is on one side, change collective until it is centered. Cruise speed should be around 250kph.
  2. The trick is to create a SPI, then slave the maverick to the SPI. Sounds like you have that part. Then, making the maverick the Sensor of interest (SOI) you can use the TMS up short command to make the maverick lock onto the target. However, to make this work you need to be in CCIP mode and the maverick must be the active weapon on your HUD. Sorry for all the acronymns, the A10 is actually pretty unfriendly, workload wise and it is easy to miss a step somewhere.
  3. In total 452 Sidewinders were fired during the Vietnam War, resulting in a kill probability of 0.18. -Friedman, Norman, The Naval Institute Guide to World Naval Weapon Systems Naval Institute Press, Anapolis, MD, 1989, ISBN 1-55750-262-5, p. 439. You'd expect, on average, a hit every 4 or 5 missiles (Note, this doesn't guarantee a hit if you fire 5), is this different from what you see?
  4. No advantage. Sometimes, in MP it is useful to hard lock an enemy before they're inside firing range to make them stop their attack against a friendly. That's if they take the bait.
  5. If you single lock it, the target is in Track While Scan mode, so you can see its velocity vector. It is not a hard lock though, the target doesn't know you've locked it yet and the radar will display other targets and update their positions. To guide a weapon the radar must be in STT (single target track aka hard lock) mode however, when you fire a 530, the radar will automatically go into STT mode.
  6. Let's not pretend this is not the most beautiful aircraft ever made.
  7. Yeah, there are smaller tanks that contains the fuel for when the aircraft is inverted or in negative G flight, but they're only so big, which is why throttle setting matters.
  8. Money very well spent yes. "Realistic": Who knows, RAZBAM certainly tries very hard to make it as good as it can be. They've been tweaking the flight model constantly to get it 'just right' according to the information available. "Are start up, operation, and weapons employment procedures detailed and accurate?" Yes they are. The systems seems fully complete. We still need a weapon (anti-runway weapon). There is no engine management in the M2000, everything is automatic. There is also no departure, spin etc. It flies or it falls but it is very stable either way. The M2000 is great because it is an excellent Air to air platform but it is also a decent strike aircraft so you can set up a nice variety of missions for it. The built-in campaign does this nicely.
  9. I don't buy that theory. Balance is something that can be evaluated without playing the game at all. Maybe there's data for the last few rounds that we can analyse, I'm happy to take that on. No point in arguing about stuff without having hard data. Blue Flag admins, do you have tracks or something we can look at? I personally always choose blue because I now know a few people on there and they always choose blue. The last few rounds has been pretty one-sided towards both Blue and Red. My opinion is that Blue Flag has more issues than just the balance. There's also the glaring issue of server performance (prob hardware and software related), causing crazy lag and the associated poor missile performance.
  10. At the moment the outcome is most strongly correlated to the side RVE chooses. A biggish squad that works together religiously. Think about it.
  11. I also agree with not having the same planes on the same sides, but, the mission will need to be changed (later this year). At the moment, Blue kinda has a lot of the nicer modules on the way. The Hornet and Harrier is going to be really effective at taking out SAMs, for instance. So you can give them to Blue and remove the SU25 from Blue. But then you'll have loads of people who want to be blue just to be able to use those two. What then? Give Mirage to Red only, SA-10 / 11 / 15 to Red? To get people to go red maybe give them the Tomcat (and not to Blue) ;-) Could open up an interesting scenario, where the balance is is looked at holistically, not in terms of air-to-air performance only.
  12. Hi All, I've noticed that when I'm trying to engage a target with the gun, the gun pipper initially (or beyond a certain range) has a very low update rate, like twice per second, when I get closer, it starts updating continuously. I have the target hard locked so its not due to track while scan updates just being slow. Is this the correct behaviour? Should the pipper not update continuously when it is hard locked , since the pipper is showing range and hard locking means the radar is following that target only and can continuously update the range info?
  13. It is not being developed as far as I can tell and unlikely that it will any time soon. It would certainly sell very well but I think there's a licensing issue that won't be overcome for the time being.
  14. You can remove the VRS by making sure you don't have a lot of downward vertical velocity when the rattling stops (when you are below the translational lift speed). The rattling and shaking is normal and happens when you cross over from slow, ground effect to faster translational lift or back. Not sure what you mean by exhaust covers. This is not needed to learn to fly.
  15. Pull 6+ Gs will make most people pass out and at the very least make them have an extremely bad time. We're sitting comfortably in our chairs with 1G whilst doing these manoeuvres. Maybe having the pilot a little bit sensitive to G is OK.

Remember, the M2000C is firstly an interceptor. It was designed to go fast and that it can do. Use the Combat Air Patrol loadout (2x Magic, 2x 530, center fuel tank) and after takeoff climb to 30 000 ft on the way to your patrol area. Then, once you have a target in sight, don't lock them but keep tabs on them. Jettison your fuel tank, FBW switch to air to air mode, burner on. You want all the speed you can get now. You'll find that doing this your maximum launch distance is more like 15nm. Usually you'll dive onto them, launch a 530, it may hit or not, if it misses just zoom climb back to 30 000 ft. They won't be able to launch on you. This gives you the chance to either run away or re-engage them with your second 530 or with the magics.
  17. Here's to hoping/not hoping for a nice sale of stuff I want / don't want. A nice juicy patch will be nice too.
  18. Yeah, The sound is a bit borked. When starting up the plane there is also the volume drop when the engine kicks in. Doesn't seem right.
  19. Mine has not made it to South Africa either. Our postal system runs at geological pace though.
  20. sadly, mine too.
  21. I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING OVER THAT LACK OF JET ENGINES!
  22. Plenty of big things they could announce today. 2.5 Merge, New explosion effects, New Netcode, New damage modelling, F/A-18, Caucasus 2.0 version, Mi24 module etc etc. Dream bigger, people...
  23. IL76 has mega jammers which confuddles your F15 radar.
