Has anyone played DCS with the Tobii eyetracker? Is it any good? Adequate substitute for TrackIR?
-
I've been playing on a small screen for years, and now have the cash to upgrade to better. See my rig details below. My grafix card is a Radeon R390, but I'll replace it if needed. What's an ideal screen size -- 24? 27? 32? Is a curved screen worth it? And what details do I need to consider for max vividness and sharpness? TIA.

Fellas, I'm currently using the Thrustmaster 16000 HOTAS and throttle. They're good pieces of equipment, moderately priced. I've had no problem using them, and they're still working fine -- or were. Starting today, when I press a button in game, nothing happens. DCS clearly recognizes the button presses when I'm doing a profile setup in the controls panel, and I've confirmed with my Windows software that the controllers are recognized, but in game there's no response. And this has just happened suddenly. It feels like maybe a corrupt profile, but a rebuilt profile has the same problem. Any idea why this is happening?

No joy Okay I’ve adjusted my PC to use the Rift’s headset audio output and input. I’ve checked that the PC is recognizing both. But somehow dwVAC is not hearing my voice commands. Any ideas why?

I have my F-15C profile loaded correctly on dwVac, which is turned on and works perfectly with my Logitech headset. When I switch to Rift audio output and input, the Rift microphone is clearly working, but dwVAC is not responding. Anyone have any idea why?
-
Thanks Boris. I had my PC set to my Logitech headset mic. I’ll switch after work today. I’ve been using dwVAC for years.
-
Thanks. So I assume you set your computer to receive input from the Rift mic?

dwVAC Is it possible to use dwVAC (Voice Activated Commands) with the Rift? If so, how?
-
Exactly. If you have enough RAM to preload the max, the likelihood of stuttering is reduced.

After 16 years dabbling in LOMAC and DCS, more or less as an avid but permanent novice, I crafted my first mission this week and flew it today -- Persian Gulf, four F-15cs (AI pilots graded excellent) vs. four Mig-29s (AI pilots graded good). Iranians 4, good guys 2. Back to flight training. You're never too old to be humiliated by your own computer. :(

Deleting those folders did the job, Hardcard. THANKS!
-
OK, emptied my saved games folder and deleted the one mod I had. No effect. What do you mean "Rename one of these folders . . ." -- to what? I'm running 2.5.4 stable, but I have two folders, one DCS world and one openbeta. Is openbeta simply redundant?

No idea what I'm doing wrong. testmission.miz

discwalker, I can't attach my mission because there is none -- the editor will literally allow my to place NO units. I click on the new plane or new ship button, then on the map, and zero happens.
-
I create a new mission, click on an airport and assign "blue" status, then click on adding a new plane and try to place a unit. Nothing happens. Same with naval units. My mission editor will not allow me to place any units. I must be missing something basic, even after watching a couple of tutorials. Anybody have any suggestions about this?

Guys, MANY THANKS AND KUDOS. It was the #$@^&*! brakes. No problem lifting off now. You saved me beaucoup $$$ at the psychiatrist. ;)

Will try this. THANKS.

Latest crash track attached. What am I doing wrong???? cantliftoff..trk

Still working my way through these good suggestions. Will post when something finally works. Right now I've managed to get airborne once in the last six or seven tries. What's baffling is that before this weirdness started, I was having no trouble at all with the A-10c; moreover, the problem is limited to the A-10c. I've recalibrated my HOTAS and throttle, reset and checked tuning on my axis commands, run rctrl+enter (throttle so far seems fine), etc. But I'm not getting speeds more than about 122 before I run out of runway. ;(
-
This is driving me nuts. No joy yet. ;(
-
Thanks for all these ideas guys. I don't see a controller conflict on the system board; and pitch works fine when I'm airborne. I disconnected my foot pedals some time ago because the TM 1600 does a good job in their place from the stick. I had two similar but slightly different A-10c profiles in my input file; maybe that's the issue? I deleted one but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Will check your ideas above and report back.

Yes, checked saturation. That's not it, alas.

OK, here's a weird one. I use the Thrustmaster 16000 HOTAS and throttle, and they're great. But all of a sudden I can't lift the A-10c off the runway. It's the only plane that has this problem. I've cleared and reset the axis commands in both the throttle and the HOTAS. Roll works fine, pitch just won't lift the nose -- and this problem just started, because I've been flying the A-10c on and off for a week. I've also noticed that the engine thrust builds very slowly, barely surpassing 130 before I roll off the runway's end and blow up. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Anyone have this same problem? Any ideas?

Is this still working for you, Chumpnut?? If so, I may try it.

Simple bottom line, if I'm invested in an AM3+ motherboard, what's the fastest/best AMD chip for playing DCS?
